Dr. Steven P. Stern, one of NJ Monthly Magazine's Top Pediatric Dentists, has been practicing pediatric and adolescent dentistry exclusively for his entire career. After obtaining his degree in Biology at Rutgers University, Dr. Stern graduated from Washington University School of Dental Medicine and then completed his education with an internship and a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Eastman Dental Center. Dr. Stern established his practice in Manalapan, where he's also raised his four children, and now spends quality time with his nine grandchildren. When he is not in the office, Dr. Stern enjoys gardening, attending classic car shows, listening to Bruce Springsten music and spending time at the Jersey Shore with his family. Dr. Stern and his Smile Team are focused on making a trip to the dentist a fun, comfortable and positive experience. He stresses preventive dentistry and truly understands the unique needs of every patient, catering every visit to each child.
While Dr. Stern takes pride in his success and in his place in the community, he is most proud that as past patients have grown-up and started their own families, they continue their visits to him by bringing their own children. However, perhaps the greatest achievements in Dr. Stern's career are evident in the compliments that parents provide, reaffirming their children's successful, positive, caring experiences during their visits.
Dr. Stern is an affiliate staff member at Central State Medical Center and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the NJ Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the Monmouth and Ocean County Dental Society.

Wow really impressed from the office to the nurses really nice courteous! Dr Stern above all really kind and patient takes his time explaining everything really caring about my child! Would recommend to anyone looking for an amazing dentist!

I took my three year old daughter here today for a cleaning, and I cannot say enough about what a positive experience it was! She can be very apprehensive with doctors, and we experienced two awful pediatric dentists prior, yet Dr. Stern and his team were so calm and knew exactly what to do/say to get her to trust them before they even touched her. Dr. Stern was clear and thorough in his analysis, I felt I could trust what he said, his office is beautiful and updated, the staff were professional and welcoming, and most importantly, my daughter was happy the entire time! It really is hard to find pediatric doctors as warm and patient as them, so we already booked her next cleaning! Thank you Dr. Stern!

My son has been going to Dr. Stern since he is 2, he is now 12 and Dr. Stern is the most gentle, kind and informative dentist I know. Takes his time, and always makes my son feel comfortable.

We have been taking our kids, now 11 and 15 to Dr. Stern since they got their first teeth. We have always had great experiences. The staff is friendly and helpful and Dr. Stern is great with our kids. He always takes the time to explain what he is doing to us And to the kids to make sure the are comfortable with any procedure.

We took both of our kids to Dr. Stern for a few years for regular checkups and didn't have an issue. We thought we'd be seeing him until he retires. When my barely five year old got a cavity, he took and developed x-rays (captured by old, non digital machines) and evaluated that she needed fillings. When I asked about the procedure, he became instantly aggravated and stated that parents aren't allowed within viewing distance while the child is undergoing the procedure - with nitrous oxide. That did not sit well with me and when I asked why, he raised his voice and stated that that is how he does it and that if I don't like it, I should go elsewhere. Consequently, we did change dentists but the office ignored multiple requests to provide the kids' dental records to the new dentist; then, told us that the records were mailed; and ultimately, we had to pick them up in person. Their equipment, mannerisms, and practices are outdated.

Dr Stern and his staff have the best chair side manner and approach to working with children. We currently moved here and of course I asked around our neighborhood for the best doctors and dentists. Multiple people recommended him and I'm so glad I listened. My kids and I left happy and cavity-free! We will definitely be back!

I went to Dr. Stern on the recommendation of another dentist. So glad I did! Besides being super knowledgeable he is kind and so compassionate. I came with a 1 (!) year old and Dr. Stern explained everything to me before my baby had to even open his mouth. His staff is very friendly and it's a very relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend my friends to come here.

This is my 1st in this office and meeting Dr. Stern. My son start seeing him last year. This office is great, tge staff are loving and understanding. The Dr. is very good with kids. Overall experience is satisfactory.

My children love to see Dr. Stern and his staff for their dental visits. Dr. Stern is kind and educates parent and child on how to prevent cavities. He also spent time speaking with my daughter at her appointment before she was to have her cavity filled--putting her mind at ease. She said having her cavity filled was easy! We love Dr. Stern!
