Growing up, Dr. Steves father was a Methodist minister and his family moved around quite a bit. By the time he was in high school, Fort Wayne was the place they called home. Its where he attended high school and put down real roots for the first time. After completing dental school, Dr. Steve returned to the area to establish his own practice.
Dr. Steve co-founded Sonrises Siempre, a non-profit agency that provides dental care to residents of developing nations. He also serves as the President of the School Board for the Medina Village School in Sierra Leone.
When he isnt at work, Dr. Steve is busy taking one of dozens of continuing education courses during the year or volunteering with the Matthew 25 Clinic. Not only is he an avid learner, Dr. Steve also teaches a materials course to dental students at IPFW and has been on the Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce since 1990.He also plays a lot of golf and teaches a Sunday School class at his church.
Dr. Chase has been working with his dad, Dr. Steven Ellinwood, since June of 2019. He continues to love working part-time with our practice alongside his dad and providing the compassionate, quality care you have come to know and expect in our office. In addition, he has thoroughly enjoyed and will continue to enjoy work at his other office, Neighborhood Health, helping our community receive dental care.
Dr. Chase and his wife Chelsea finally feel settled in their home near Georgetown. Their one-eyed dog, Wink, recently became a big brother to their first child and son, Ezra Charles Ellinwood. Chelsea continues to work as an R.N. for Parkview on the pediatric unit as well as the head gymnastics coach at Snider High School.
Dr. Chase and Chelsea like to spend time with their family and friends in their free time when Ezra will allow. Wednesday is one of their special nights together because they both are big Survivor fans and dont miss an episode. They are even part of a Survivor fantasy league. On the weekends, they like to walk Wink to The Donut Bar in Georgetown Square. During the summer months, you may run into them at Zestos or Hawaiian Ice since they visit these two establishments as much as possible.
Dr. Steve is the son of a Methodist minister. As such, he moved around a lot, but Fort Wayne was the first place that ever felt like home. Thats why he came back to the area to practice dentistry. His two children graduated from R. Nelson Snider High School, the same school that Dr. Steve attended. (Go Panthers!)
On Sundays, Dr. Steve still teaches Sunday School at his home congregation, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. He also helps to coordinate annual donations with the Food Drive for Associated Churches Food Bank.
