Dr. Ramesh Thondapu was born in the Midwest and grew up in Merced, California. He spent one year at Duke University prior to transferring to the University of California, San Diego. At UCSD he played on the Mens Tennis Team and was a member of the NCAA Division II Final Four team in 2007. He received his B.S. in Biology in 2009.
He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. At Tufts Dr. Thondapu participated in microbiology research which he presented at the ADA and AADR conferences. In 2014 he graduated Cum Laude from Tufts and was inducted into the O.K.U. honor society. He went on to obtain his specialty certificate in Endodontics from Tufts in 2016. His specific interests in endodontics include the pathophysiology of endodontic disease, bacteriology and biofilm structures, irrigation techniques and preservation of root dentin. To this end, he has introduced The GentleWave Procedure into his practice.
In 2017 Dr. Thondapu and his wife, Elizabeth, relocated to California. Before purchasing Dr. Steven Penns practice and starting Sattva Endodontics he spent four years in private endodontic practices in Roseville and Fairfield. He lives in Davis and enjoys biking to work. His interests outside of endodontics include cooking, all things tennis and other outdoor activities including hiking, biking and skiing. He loves to learn about and discuss history, foreign and domestic policy and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Thondapu is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, ADA, CDA, SDDS and the Davis Dental Institute.He expresses genuine care and open communication with his patients and strives to provide the highest quality endodontic treatment.
Dr. Penncompleted his undergraduate studies in biology at the University of California, San Diego and received his Dental degree from Loma Linda University in 1980. He practiced general dentistry in Solano County until 1997. He then attended Boston University'sGoldman School of Dental Medicine where he was awarded a post graduate degree in Endodontics in 1999.
He has practiced endodontics in Davis since 2001. He is married to the former Eva Gonzales.He has two grown sons (David and Derek),two step-daughters(Rosalie and Analiza)andtwo beautiful granddaughters, Summer and Olivia. His outside activities include scuba and free diving, racquetball, fishing and, of course, being a grandpa.

I can't believe my root canal was done with NO PAIN at all. I thought that I'll at least suffer for a few days afterwards, but there is just no pain or any discomfort. Dr. Thondapu is professional and he explained everything to me. They also gave me a callback one day after the procedure to check if everything's okay. I can't say that I like having root canal treatment, but I did have a positive experience.

I will never look at root canals the same...it was a painless procedure... Steven E. Penn was extremely professional.. Highly recommend If you need a root canal .

Staff is amazing! I was so nervous when I went in but Dr. Penn and staff are so caring while also 100% professional. They made me feel safe which then made my anxiety almost disappear! Recommend for sure.

I have needed Steven Penn's help with 6 root canals - and I think he is outstanding, along with his staff. Every time I was either in pain (either physical or emotional) and always left feeling so much better (physical and emotional). You don't want to get root canals, but if you do, this is someone to rely on.

I was referred to Dr. Penn's office by my dentist for a root canal. Dr. Penn performed my root canal and it was such an amazing experience. Leticia at the front desk was very kind, and worked with me over the phone to get my appointment scheduled without a consultation appointment. During the procedure itself, I felt no pain at all with the exception of the small pinch of the anesthetic needle. Dr. Penn did such a great job on my tooth (meaning he used a very small hole that maintained the integrity of the tooth) that my dentist opted for a permanent filling rather than a crown. On a molar? Unheard of. As far as root canals go, this was the best experience I could have asked for.

Dr Penn seemed very kind and careful. I had a molar root canal this morning. No pain what so ever, better experience than a crown or filling and I have had many. The procedure lasted about 2 hours. I recommend him.

There are not enough adjectives to describe Dr. Penn! Warm, caring, funny and extreme knowledgeable and professional just don't do him justice. No one likes a root canal, but Dr. Penn guided me through with expert care and minimal discomfort. Thank you, Dr. Penn!

i was so scared, i hate going to the dentist. but with my expierence there i will go back anytime. he does great numbing the area. i didnt feel one thing. i was comfortable. his staff is so sweet. i got a root canal done and its the next day and i have no pain or swollen. thank you so much. awesome work.
