As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. David C. Hoffman, D.D.S., F.A.C.S., Lydia J. Lam, D.D.S., and Steve Yusupov, D.D.S., M.D., F.A.C.S. manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. Hoffman, Dr. Lam, Dr. Yusupov, and Dr. Abdou practice a wide range of oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures, including dental implants, bone grafting, wisdom teeth extractions, oral pathology, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma surgery, cosmetic filler injections, cleft lip and palate surgery, and treatment of facial pediatric congenital deformities.

The surgical staff at Staten Island Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is comprised of certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants that aid in the administration of I.V. sedation, assist during surgery, and monitor patients during and after procedures. Our surgical staff also includes a registered nurse to assist in surgical procedures and available board certified anesthesiologists to administer general anesthesia within our state-of-the-art facility. All staff members are well-versed in healthcare and insurance policies and are CPR certified.
Dr. Hoffman has been in practice since 1981 after completing his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital and Southwest Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and also completed a two-year NIH fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. He completed his dental school education at NYU School of Dentistry.
Following his residency he joined the staff of Staten Island University Hospital, where his is director of the division of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery. He has been on the faculty of numerous hospitals and educational institutions including Columbia University, Downstate Medical Center, and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Rutgers Health Science Center).
Dr. Hoffman is a Fellow in the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Additionally, he was granted a fellowship in the American College of Surgeons, a distinction to a small percentage of oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
Dr. Hoffman is a member of the American Cleft Lip and Palate Association, the American Society of TMJ Surgeons, American Dental Association, and the Academy of Osseointegration. He has presented at both national and international meetings on a variety of topics including orthognathic surgery, TM joint surgery, dental implant surgery, and cleft lip and palate surgery. Additionally, he has multiple publications as well as several chapters in major textbooks on oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Hoffman has an active interest in treating children with cleft lip and palate deformities. He has been the medical director for healing the Children and has been involved in over 75 trips to third-world countries with Healing the Children and other international health organizations. He as well has an active interest in temporomandibular joint surgery and patented a temporomandibular joint prosthesis with Dr. Michael Pappas known as the Hoffman-Pappas joint, which has been used worldwide.
Dr. Hoffman has been in involved with dental implants since their inception and currently focuses his practice on implant dentistry. He has pioneered the use of virtual planning for implant dentistry as well as introduced with Dr. Lam, to Staten Island, Teeth in a Day using the All-on-4 system for dental implants. This technique has helped numerous patients benefit by having their teeth extracted, implants placed and new teeth placed all in one day.

Dr. Hoffman and his colleagues, including Dr. Lam have appeared in both local and national news for their charitable work, bringing children back to this country for facial reconstructive surgery. He was featured on the Discovery Channel series entitled Super surgeons for the work he did with two children he brought back to Staten Island for treatment of TMJ ankylosis or frozen jaw joint. Most recently, he and Dr. Lam were featured on the national news for their treatment of a 14-year-old young girl from Gambia who had a large life threatening facial tumor, and for a 16-year-old boy who could not open his mouth.
Dr. Hoffman is accompanied in his practice by two of his previous residents, Dr. Lam and Dr. Yusupov. Together, they have put together one of the most technically advanced practices for the treatment of patients who require implant dentistry. They have contributed to Staten Island one of the more sophisticated implant dental programs incorporating the latest in digital imaging, dental scanning and 3D printing as well as virtual surgery planning for optimal patient care. Drs. Hoffman, Lam and Yusupov are proud of the fact that they have developed one of the major and most advanced oral and maxillofacial surgery practices in the New York Metropolitan area located on the campus of Staten Island University Hospital.
Dr. Hoffman was featured on the Discovery channel for the treatment of TMJ and facial jaw deformities. He is married and has four children. His hobbies include tennis, jogging, skiing, and traveling. Dr. Hoffman is also a sculptor, and many of his pieces may be seen in his office.

For the longest I had teeth I never liked. They were uneven and I was even missing an incisor tooth. When I met Dr. Yusupov, I got the start to my fix. He finished my surgery successfully, and now my jaw is properly aligned. This has opened a gateway for a better smile, as my teeth are currently being treated with braces, something I couldn't do without the doctor. His staff is really friendly and his wife, who also works with him, represents the business with him well. I would recommend his office with flying colors.

I can't say enough about my experience with Dr. Yusupov. He is a true talent. My procedure was SEAMLESS. I had extensive surgery on a Sunday and was back to work on Monday, no bruising or pain. You can tell he is truly passionate about his craft. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. The office, immaculate.

I have been wanting to share a review on my 2 visits so far to Gold Coast Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery office. Last mid August, my tooth acted up so terribly. My dentist wasn't available at that time since she was out of the county. At first, I thought of just wait for my dentist to come back and tried to endure the pain I felt at those moments. The pain was gradually increasing day after day. When I couldn't bear it anymore I went to the emergency room at the closest hospital where I live to have it checked and hopefully get relieved from that excruciating pain I felt (my first ever hopefully last tooth ache experience in my whole life) at that time. After the emergency room doctor checked my tooth I was told that they don't have available oral surgeon to take care of my needs. He added that I need to call my dental insurance and/or look online to see where I could call to book an appointment for an oral surgeon to take care of the extraction of my infectious tooth. This is how I come across GCO&MS. I have searched and called up multiple dental offices to try to book an appointment BUT no one has given me an immediate schedule to help me with my current terrible situation w/ my tooth issues EXCEPT GCO&MS. I have seen and read all these awesome reviews online about GCO&MS. I got their contact number online, called, spoke to Courtney(one of the nicest customer service/appointment agents I've ever spoke to), and have myself booked for an appointment right away. I was able to come to their beautiful, clean, friendly, welcoming, and brand new top of the line office. I met there the world's most amazing dental/oral surgeon Dr. Steve Yusupov. He had helped me fixed my tooth problem instantly. He was surrounded by a wonderful team who are obviously happy with their jobs. My experience at Gold Coast and particularly with Dr Yusupov, was incredible. The office is state of the art, immaculate & the front desk is more than accommodating. Dr Yusupov takes his time and offers copious options before proceeding with anything further. Dr Yusupov made me feel extremely comfortable and at ease regarding my case. He and his staff truly care for their patients. I was even called twice since my visit to follow up on how I was feeling which I have never experienced before and I'm in the medical field. All physicians and surgeons should lead by his example.

Hi My name is Kathleen Lyons and I was faced with a very horrible situation to have two molars pulled. They were both root canals and Capped. My oral surgeon could not take me for one month and my doctor's oral surgeon was very expensive, so I went online and started looking put in best oral surgeons in Nassau County and Dr. Yosupov popped up. So I called the office and they said come in tomorrow for a consultation, I did and it was a wonderful experience and he pulled my teeth that day, and I had ABSOLUTELY no pain ever after he pulled my teeth. I was so scared because the last tooth I had pulled I had in the insane pain for 10 days, so I'm very thankful to have this new doctor in my life. I would recommend this office to everyone. My experience was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!

Dr Steve Yusupov and staff are the best in the business!! Went today for a little bit of an emergency tooth extraction. Honestly was very nervous going into it because I've had negative teeth experiences before. Not only was the level of professionalism absolutely exceptional but everyone made me feel at home and really calmed my nerves. The surgery was fast, seamless, and not scary at all. I could not recommend Dr Steve and staff enough. Hopefully I won't need many more extractions but if I do, I know that I'll have a pleasant and easy experience at Gold Coast Oral surgery!

Coming into this office was the best decision I made for my mouth. I needed 3 implants for my upper mouth but the other offices I went to told me I needed to get a sinus lift and return. I didn't want to have to travel to two offices so when I came to Dr Yusupov he told me he could do the sinus lift and the implants which was amazing. If I could give more stars I would.
