Dr. Colin Malaker is the founder and owner of Sterling Dental Care. He built it from the ground up on the premise of providing dental excellence in a soft, relaxing environment. His goal is to make every guest's dental experience, no matter what is being done, the best they have ever had.
Dr. Malaker started his career as a commercial pilot after graduating from a four-year flight program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach Florida. After five years of flight experience, he found himself wanting a change that allowed him caring contact with more people instead. He turned down a position with TWA and went back to school to start the journey of becoming a dental care provider.
Dr. Malaker graduated from the University of Illinois - Chicago College of Dentistry with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Along with his degree, he also completed an externship in oral surgery to enhance his experience. He attends numerous continuous education programs each year to keep up on the latest technology and techniques so he can pass that quality on to his guests. He is a standing member of many organizations to keep abreast of modern dentistry and to help resolve issues with Missouri's underserved dental population.
Sterling Dental Care is founded with the principle of Comprehensive Care built in. Dr. Malaker is experienced in so many aspects of dentistry including orthodontics, implant dentistry, cosmetic, pediatrics, and much more, that it allows you and your family to get the most comprehensive care possible in one place. Sterling Dental Care will become your home for most all the dental needs you may have.
Our patients are my favorite part of my work. Every person offers a unique chance to learn and connect with someone new. I am happy to spend my days helping develop healthier smiles and improve their overall wellness.
Susan joined Sterling Dental Care in 2007. She has a B.S. in Dental Hygiene, a graduate certificate in Health Ethics, and Expanded Functions certification for orthodontics and restorative. She provides thorough cleanings, preventive and maintenance care, and patient education so you can achieve your healthiest smile. Susan has been married for more than ten years and the couple has two children. The family enjoys participating in many activities with their church family.
Mary joined Sterling Dental Care in 2005, bringing with her many years of experience. She offers a range of patient care, assists Dr. Malakar with procedures, and makes sure every patient has a comfortable dental experience. Marys married, has twin boys, and recently became a mother-in-law. She loves to travel and thats a good thing: one of her sons lives in Thailand! In addition to travel, Mary loves doing yoga, taking daily walks, and volunteering in our community.
I love being part of a remarkable team, helping people love their smiles! Everyone at Sterling Dental Care is professional, kind, and friendly. My coworkers, along with Dr. Malaker, make sure our patients have comfortable visits and achieve their best smiles.
Julie found her professional home with us in 2010. Working in our clinic, she provides chairside assistance, educates patients about dental health and homecare, and offers patient care. Julies time off is usually spent with her family. She has a wonderful husband, seven kids (five girls and two boys), and her first grandbaby is on the way. Julie loves to travel and camp, as well as garden with her father and work with her mother at their family restaurant. She also enjoys kickboxing with coworkers during lunch.
Dusty has been with us since 2014. As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, hes licensed in Class 1 & 2 restorations, orthodontics, and full and partial dentures. Dusty spends his free time with his wife, Kim and their daughter, Mika. Theyre expecting a second child in May 2018. The family is involved with their church and Dusty enjoys golfing, BBQs with friends, and trips to Dexter, his hometown, to visit with family and friends.
Julia joined us in 2014 and has, in the years since, completed orthodontic and restorative courses. Youll meet her in the clinic, where she assists Dr. Malakar during procedures and supports our patients as they improve their smiles health. A Columbia native, Julia enjoys spending her non-work hours with her husband and family. The couple has two dogs and is expecting their first child in February 2018.
Ambers been part of the Sterling Dental Care team since 2016. Shes both a Certified Dental Assistant and Certified Orthodontic Assistant. Youll meet her in the clinic, where she assists Dr. Malaker with a range of dental and orthodontic procedures. Outside the office, Amber loves spending time with her pup, Layla, and her longtime boyfriend/new fianc. Shes also busy with classes, as shes studying to become a dental hygienist!
I love instilling confidence in our patients, allowing them to feel comfortable and at ease with our practice. We want people to feel at home here, secure in the knowledge theyre receiving the best dental care.
Donna joined Sterling Dental Care in 2010 and, as our Office Manager, ensures everything runs smoothly. Shes the go-to person for questions about insurance, finances, as well as any concerns you might have. When not in the office, Donna enjoys time with her husband and two children: being with them is the highlight of her life! She also loves to travel, read, and has a passion for interior decorating. Donna enjoys spending her lunchtime in the basement, kickboxing with coworkers.
The thing I enjoy most about being at Sterling Dental Care is working with patients. Its rewarding to help them understand their treatment plan, insurance benefits, and financials. Everyone deserves to be fully informed about their dentistry!
Sheridan joined Dr. Malaker and our team in 2016. Shell help you with the financial aspects of dental and orthodontic care, explaining your insurance benefits and working hard to ensure you get the most from your coverage. In her time away from the office, Sheridan enjoys traveling with her husband. She also loves being with family and friends, her Great Dane, Huskies, and three horses. Sheridan enjoys coaching her coworkers in kickboxing during lunch breaks, too.
I love that I am each patients first interaction with our office. Its enjoyable to talk with and get to know people face-to-face, rather than simply over the phone, and make sure they feel comfortable with our office.
Alisa joined Sterling Dental Care in 2019. Working at the front desk, shell welcome and check you in, verify your insurance, schedule visits, and do her best to make sure youre in and out of the lobby in a timely manner. When not at Sterling Dental Care, Alisaenjoys spending time with her two daughters and grandchild. She loves to give back to her community any way she can!

Went back in 2018 for a crown. Had to go back twice because it kept falling off. They fixed it for free each time however, now in 2022 my new dentist discovered my crown was never on correctly and has been spreading an infection throughout my mouth. I now have to get what's left of the tooth extracted and crowns on the two surrounding teeth. Spend the extra money you have now elsewhere instead of thousands more down the road.

This place is down right nasty I do not know why are dentists refered them but I will let him know and show him the pictures I took (of the dirty counter stands and floor ) ...the staff is rude won't answer questions and they just leave you setting in the chair for hours when asked 3 times how long am I gonna set here they finally answered oh about an hour and a half they close at 5 so we gonna stay tell after hours than .....and if you want your personal business out there just easdrop on some of the stuff that was being talked about business and clients

This place rocks! Susan is my hygienist and she is exceptional; knowledgeable, passionate, efficient, and she doesn't try to ask you questions when her fingers are in your mouth. Couldn't recommend more!

The experience I received was amazing. Not having established a dentist yet I unfortunately had an emergency situation that caused me to call. The office was excellent from beginning on the phone for appointment to walking out the door. I have had multiple root canals in my life but none like this. I highly highly recommend Sterling Dental Care and they are just as good with children. I promise a great experience. Thank you Sterling Dental for being you. Amazing

A bit pricey, and the actual 'dentists' seem to be pulled in a million directions. I only see them for about five minutes per visit, depending on what's being done. That said, the nurses/assistants/anesthesiologists are always so kind that I have a pleasant visit every time. I have a lot of anxiety about dental work, and they go the extra mile to find ways to make me comfortable. Even if they are a bit expensive, I recommended them to anyone that suffers from fear of the dentist.

One of worst customer service and rude receptionist I ever seen in my life. Their schedule is not patient friendly and I would say doctor is good. So find someone other dentist do much better than this location. Below people are not patient just bad employee of this clinic

LOVE Dr. Malaker - wonderful dentist!! Very kind and patient with my questions. He has done 4 crowns, 3 fillings and one root canal for me over the years and the results have been perfect. The staff is sweet and pleasant - not sure why the few bad reviews were posted - I have NEVER had a bad experience at Sterling Dental Care!

I had old work red9ne and I told them ahead time I was on a budget. They charged me $250 more than the the price they quoted me. I had to go back and have their work redone because I couldn't chew or bite down on one side for 2 weeks. (I just had old fillings redone) They had the techs give me the shots and it took 5 before I went numb. I'm pretty sure they put them in the wrong place because I still have pain 3 months later at some of the injection sites. They traumatized my 5 year old. She never wants to go to the dentist again because they were so ruff. Front office staff is rude. We will never go back there again. High prices for low quality work.
