Stephens Dentistry has been providing quality dental care to patients in Evanston and the North Shore for over 60 years. Our practice was founded by James B. Stephens, DDS in 1959. Today, our doctors Dr. Robert B. Stephens and Dr. Angera Ma continue to uphold the high standard of dental care for Evanston residents that Dr. James Stephens began in 1959.
Both of our doctors have many years of experience under their belt, bringing exceptional levels of care and comfort to our patients. Dr. Bob is very involved in patient care and promotes prevention as the best form of dental care. When patients require extra attention to achieve optimal oral health, Dr. Bob will work with them to create a customized treatment plan ideal for their situation. Dr. Ma brings her experience in helping families achieve optimum oral health. She is a strong advocate for conservative dentistry and ensuring treatment is tailored to what is best for each patient.
Stephens Dentistry started our dental practice in Evanston, IL over 60 years ago on the principles of honesty, integrity, and high-quality dental care. Dr. Robert Bruce Stephens provides excellent dentistry to Evanston residents.
Dr. Bob, as he is known to both patients and team, also grew up in the North Shore area. He attended the University of Colorado for his undergraduate education. Dr. Bob then attended Evanstons own Northwestern University Dental School and graduated with his D.D.S. in 1990.
Dr. Bob is an excellent and caring Evanston dentist. He is very involved in patient care and promotes prevention as the best form of dental care. When patients require extra attention to achieve optimal oral health, Dr. Bob will work with them to create a customized treatment plan ideal for their situation.
From grandparents through grandchildren, Dr. Bob enjoys seeing all generations of patients. He believes family is important and works hard to cultivate a caring and compassionate environment where our patients feel like family.
Dr. Bob is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, The Pankey Institute, the American Dental Association, the Illinois Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Robert is also a Preferred Authorized Invisalign Doctor.
Dr. Angera Ma grew up in High Point, North Carolina. She attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC for her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering, and she received her D.D.S. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Ma is bringing to Stephens Dentistry her experience in helping families achieve optimum oral health. She is a strong advocate for conservative dentistry and ensuring treatment is tailored to what is best for each patient.
Facility We are proud to provide a state-of-the-art facility for the highest quality dental care available. It is one of our top priorities to protect the well-being of our valued patients. For this reason, our office meets and surpasses all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) standards. Location Our office is located on the 9th floor of the Rotary International building in downtown Evanston. We are conveniently located a block away from the L. If you are driving, there is street parking, as well as a parking lot south of us located under the Best Western on Sherman and north of us on Davis Street. More parking information is available on the City of Evanstons web site. We are walking distance from the Davis Street and Dempster Street Purple Line stops. There is street parking in front of the building, as well as several parking garages located within a block of us.

Stephens Dentistry fulfills all my dentistry needs: I can always count on them to take care of whatever questions, problems or dental needs I have and I can trust their care. The staff is so friendly and create a very comfortable experience (and they're fun too!). They provide quality work and there are no complaints! Dr. Bob and Dr. Ma are wonderful (and love their humor).

Dr. Jim and Dr. Bob took care of my teeth for years, knowing how to handle my severe anxiety. Yes, I am a full grown baby when it comes to the dentist. Now I have had the chance of meeting Dr. Ma and she has instilled in me a new level of calm and confidence. She's funny too so go see her! On top of the excellent service, they use top of the line technology and they get you in and out very quickly. The front desk staff is always so supportive, friendly, and they have a give great swag.

I love this whole office so much that I am actively excited on days I get to go to the dentist. (I promise I'm not crazy!) Dr. Ma and "Dr. Bob" are such thorough, meticulous, kind, and good-humored dentists, all of the hygienists are fantastic and friendly, and Nikki and Jackie at the front desk could not be nicer or more supportive. You can feel how well everyone gets along. The whole environment is cheerful, and it's easily the best care and most patient, detailed advice I've ever gotten. Comfy, clean facility easily reachable by trains. I could go on and on. A++!!

Dr. Ma at Stephens Dentistry is an exceptional dentist. She is attentive to your needs and questions, gentle, and explains very clearly and thoroughly how your teeth are doing. The whole office makes an effort to know every patient personally and you are always greeted by name when you arrive for your appointment. Everyone I've interacted with at Stephens over the years (many years now) has been very friendly, professional, and provides nothing but the best service. It's true that you pay top dollar, but they also make sure that you get every single dollar's worth out of it and more. When a night guard I received from them didn't work for me, they provided me with additional options with no further cost until the problem was solved. I seriously cannot recommend Stephens enough if you are in need of a new dentist!

I am always greeted by first name upon arrival, which is so nice. Today I had to have a small filling removed and replaced. I was pretty anxious about it, specifically the lidocaine shot. Dr. Ma was SO FAST and it didn't hurt. The entire filling removal/replacement took like five minutes I think. I'm super impressed. Everyone in this office is top-notch.

Fantastic dental care! Yesterday Dr. Bob replaced an old, chipped crown on one of my lower back molars. He explained everything he was doing as he worked, and he and the hygienist kept reassuring me that I was "doing a great job". (They were actually the ones who did the great job.) The entire process was pain-free, and I was in and out with a new crown in just over two hours. STEPHENS DENTISTRY is the place to go for all your dental care--everything from routine cleaning and x-rays to state-of-the-art crowns that are completed in a single visit.

A best-in-class experience! From the moment I first walked in as a brand new patient, I was welcomed as if I was an old friend. Everyone I have met there has been outgoing, treating me like a valued patient and taking a sincere interest in the positive nature of my experience. Dr. Stephens is outstanding. He is truly a terrific dentist, but he also has a truly enjoyable personality. A very confident professional, he also makes you feel welcome, taking an interest in you as a person, not just as a patient. Deanna is absolutely engaging and she has walked me through every step of my visits with kindness and professionalism. During the replacement of two crowns, Dr. Stephens actively described what he was doing, engaging me and helping the time go quickly. Likewise with showing me the results of my exam and putting together a plan to address any areas of potential concern going forward. The followup from my appointments has also been excellent. They call to check on you the next day, and you experience a team approach truly focused on your well being as much as your dental care. I give them my highest recommendation. They're absolutely excellent at what they do.

Many people talk about the consistent and outstanding dental care we receive at Stephens; I echo those sentiments. Certainly the dentists and hygienists are top notch, keeping current with newest dental innovations and pain management, as well as being intelligent but approachable, structured and efficient but friendly, and very compassionate. So I won't go on about the folks who have to put their hands in our mouths. Rather, I want to applaud an oft overlooked crew at medical offices: the admin staff at Stephens. From finance to reception everyone is so exceptionally polite, kind, warm, and helpful. Too often, especially during these weary, frustrating winter-in-Pandemic days (daze?) we call an office, clinic, business, or store for assistance of one kind or another and are met by a fatigued voice who doesn't even say the name of the place, let alone their own, or even offer a polite salutation. (IF an actual person answers!) When you call Stephens the staff ALWAYS answers with conviviality, saying you have, in fact, reached the dental office, telling you their name, and setting the tone right off: professional, ready to help, resourceful, polite, caring, and cheerful. It's likely that, as they are human beings, the staff at Stephens isn't *always* having a perfectly awesome day. However, if they aren't, they don't project that to their patients. This, and the fact of long-term staff retention, demonstrates a well-managed clinic with people who are glad to be there and will put patient care first; they clearly care about their work, and one another, and they pay that forward. Thank you, Stephens, for always making sure a real live person answers the phone, knows who I am, offers, "Good morning!" and happily assists me. If a person can be a fangirl to a dental practice, lol, I am one, and will always recommend Stephens to friends, family, and colleagues.
