Dr. Stephen Schoens passion is to restore broken teeth and smiles to their natural beauty and function. From the simple to the complex, his Prosthodontic specialty training and 30+ years of practice experience have allowed him to accomplish this for many of his patients.
In 1978, Dr. Schoen graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois Benedictine College. He attended Loyola University School of Dentistry where he obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1982, and joined the United States Air Force where he practiced General Dentistry. In 1991, he was selected to attend a residency in the specialty of Prosthodontics at the Medical College of Georgia. He received a certificate in the specialty of Prosthodontics in 1993. In 1995, he separated from the USAF as a Lieutenant Colonel and settled with his wife, Lori, and their five children in Greenville, SC.
Lisa has been a Registered Dental Assistant for over 30 years. She obtained her Registered Dental Assistant License from the State of California in 1983. Lisa is part of our team in the capacity of Office Manager, which allows her the opportunity to coordinate your care from your first phone call to the completion of your treatment plan. Lisas knowledge of all aspects of the dental office has made her a valuable member of the team.
Wendy has been a Hygienist for over 21 years. Wendy received her Associates Degree in Health Sciences at Greenville Technical College. Wendy is here at Dr. Schoens office to provide excellent standard of care for our patients, and to explain how to prevent disease and maintain healthy oral hygiene. Her favorite part of her job is taking care of our great patients and meeting new people. Wendy strives to make a difference and positive impact in each persons life. Wendy also takes pride in helping to teach patients how to take great care of their teeth at home so they have healthy smiles for life!
Patty has been a Dental Assistant with Dr. Schoen for over 10 years. She is very knowledgeable, and assists Dr. Schoen in various areas of dentistry and strives to give you the highest quality personal care. Patty is dedicated to make you as comfortable as possible during your dental treatment. Pattys knowledge of Prosthodontics makes her a valuable asset to our team.
Our Team at Lighthouse Restorative Dentistry is VERY excited to Welcome back Heather! Heather is a previous Team Member that worked here from 2012-2015. She is Dr. Schoens main chairside assistant. She is a warm and caring young professional, and our patients can always count on her upbeat attitude, smiling face, and commitment to exceptional patient care! She has been a Dental Assistant for 20+ years, and has many years of surgical experience, and has certifications in Implants, Nitrous Monitoring, and PRF Procedures. When she is not at the office, you can find Heather kayaking with her husband Adam, or at home with her granddaughter, dogs, gardening, and raising chickens!
Prosthodontics is a dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association that deals with cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, and temporomandibular joint disorders.
Prosthodontists are dental specialists in the restoration and replacement of teeth who have completed dental school plus three additional years of advanced training and education in an ADA-accredited prosthodontic graduate program.
Prosthodontists provide an extremely high level of care to patients with missing teeth, or having significant damage to their existing teeth. Prosthodontists work with congenital defects as well as problems arising from trauma and neglect. Prosthodontists are highly trained in state-of-the-art techniques and procedures for treating many diverse and complex dental conditions and restoring optimum function and esthetics. These include: crowns, bridges, complete and removable partial dentures, dental implants, TMD-jaw joint problems, traumatic injuries to the mouths structure and/or teeth, snoring or sleep disorders, and oral cancer reconstruction and continuing care.
The American Dental Association recognizes nine dental specialties, and the ADA does not include cosmetic dentistry as a specialty. Prosthodontists receive extensive training and experience in dental esthetics and cosmetics during their graduate programs which currently last three years. Many cosmetic dentists receive training during seminars or a series of courses, but this training is usually limited to weekend or possibly weeklong courses.

I've had dental issues throughout my life; in fact, it feels as if I've spent half my life in dentists' chairs. Hand's down, Dr. Schoen is the best. His knowledge, thoroughness, curiosity, collaborative spirit, holistic perspective, insight and patience are remarkable. I'm grateful for the fact that, although ego would be justified in his case, he exhibits a sense of humor and rare degrees of kindness and humility. I want to extend my thanks to Lisa, who has gone above and beyond for me, as well as the entire staff. The respect and kindness with which he treats his staff is yet another aspect of his character. My thanks to everyone at Lighthouse Restorative Dentistry.

Dr. Schoen' s office is the one of the best dental offices I have been to. The staff is beyond nice and very courteous. Lisa, the office manager, is amazing. She makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in. Wendy is a great hygienist. My teeth feel wonderful after my cleaning. Heather, the assistant, was very kind and i felt like i was in good hands with her. Dr. Schoen is very thorough with his exams. He took an ample amount of time to explain my options and made sure I understood everything. At no time did I feel rushed and I left the office feeling satisfied that I got the answers I was looking. He even solved an unrelated problem I had that my general doctor couldn't solve. I am beyond impressed and I wish I'd found this office sooner. The drive is a bit over an hour for me but I have no problem making it if that says anything.

Dr Schoen is great! He also found issues relating to my problems that led to resolution. He helped eliminate issues that I had dealt with for decades! His staff is also fantastic! I highly recommend this practice.
