Dr. Sunde and the staff here have given me impeccable care every single time. They are always welcoming, accommodating, and make you feel totally cared for. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in Olympia over anywhere else.

What a wonderful dentist for all of us in our family. Everyone asks what is he like and we start by saying you will love him! He has a great personality, explains things in a way you can understand and answers your questions. He is gentle and made us all feel comfortable. These are things we value, as well as good dentistry and with Dr. Sunde and his team we know we have the best dentist ever!

The front office staff, especially Tammy, are welcoming and efficient. They patiently listen to patient needs and communicate well. The most impressive thing about Dr. Kern that sets him apart is how much he knows about materials and takes pride in dental craftsmanship. Art and science meet at Kern Family Dental. He has a keen mind for applying what is in current dental journals into a treatment plan. He also is warm and well-rounded. If you want to make small talk, ask about his garden!

Best place to go for dental work in area. Been a patient since day 1, and wouldn't even think of going anywhere else! This place is simply the best!

I just wanted to thank the staff at Dr. Kern's office for the care and compassion they showed during my recent visit. I had been stressing out all week as this was going to be a three hour procedure. During the process my legs began to cramp from setting so long, Tammy was kind enough to run to the store and get some pickle juice which helped to alleviate the cramps. The care and compassion they showed put me at ease. Dr. Kern was even kind enough to sing to me while he was drilling away at my teeth. Dr. Kern and his staff are the best! Maureen

Some back info, I have been here as a previous patient several years ago but due to many moves and different insurances I left and now I am back and now considered (or thought I was) a new PT. Fast ford to this morning, I called to see if I could be seen for an emergency fix (bottom retainer that is glued broke over the weekend). I have had the glue break off before and my prev 2 dentists have been able to fix with no issues which is why I called "my" dentist this time. Tammy answered my call @ 757am to my surprise because I know they don't open until 8am. I told her my issue and hopes of coming in to get this fixed. She asked if I was a patient there and I said yes and she put me on hold and quickly came back and said I don't know if you checked your EOB but we don't take your insurance. And I said okay but when I was there last time I was told I could pay the difference for the out of network, she responded with I was just told that so I'm just letting you know. I then asked for clarification if I could still be seen there or not and she couldn't give me a straight answer and proceeded to say I needed to go to my orthodontist. I informed her that this wasn't the first time my retainer has broke and my previous dentists were able to fix it and that I haven't been to my orthodontist in over 15 years and she said "I don't know that's what I was just told. This is an orthodontist fix. We aren't even open I wasn't suppose to answer the phone, we just got back from a couple weeks off, I'll take down your number and call you back once we all get settled in and after our meeting, this is an orthodontist thing" and just continued to ramble on until I said you know what never mind don't contact me back forget about it because I don't like the attitude and hung up. It's unfortunate that Tammy represents this place of business and it says a lot. I will no longer recommend this place.

Dr Kern is The Best! He does excellent work & is a "people person" who makes you feel very at ease in the dental chair. The office staff is very friendly, knowledgeable & professional. I recommend this office highly.

The front desk lady with white hair is extremely rude. I take my nearly 83 yr old grandmother (who's memory/mind is slipping a little) around to do her errands every week. In the last two weeks we've gone to her dentist 5 times, which makes me wonder why she needs to go so often. So today when I went inside to ask what the appointments were for to get a better understanding of exactly what is happening at these appointments, so I can make sure they're not taking advantage of my grandmother and her insurance money I was met with a very standoffish and rude intake woman. Saying she's "aware of how many times we've been here" each time after the appointments I'm told that the next one will be the last one and each appointment they make another appointment and no results are being made.. the front desk lady claimed in a very condescending tone that dentures take 4 appointments.. if that's true why will next Thursday be the 6th appointment? You should train your employees to be more professional.

I have been going to Dr Kern for about 20 years, he is great at what he does and makes you feel comfortable while in the chair. Office staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this office!

So, I have been a patient of Dr. Kern's for about 18 years. Dr. Kern is a highly skilled dentist and I have never had any issues with how he or his dental hygeniests have treated me. I recently got married and talked my wife into going here as well. However, we have had nothing but horrible experiences we are so upset with how the front staff has treated us. I don't mean to go on a disrespectful rant, but my wife got a crown there and we intially were quoted the cost to be $1,250.00 and it then ended up being $1,800. In addition, we were told that we could set up payments in order to bill our insurance plan again the following year, and this ended up being wrong information. Plus, we were not told about being charged interest if we set up a payment plan and didn't end up getting an official bill until after two billing cycles passed. Also, I initially set up a payment plan for my credit card and after giving them my information they apparently lost it so my payment never got made. So, I called and asked why my payment didn't get processed and discussed interest on the matter and was told they would waive the interest if we paid it in full. Then after being promised they would waive the interest, I had my wife call today to pay off the whole thing and then they did not waive the interest! Plus they treated my wife extremely rude and very superficial with regards to how upset she was with the whole experience. I am so disappointed after having gone there for over half my life and now will be looking for a new dentist.
