Dr. Cook attended Purdue University for undergrad study in physics and pharmacy. He received an early admission to Indiana University School of Dentisty at the Med Center in Indianapolis and graduated with honors in 1978. He subsequently spent four years in the United States Air Force as a dental officer. After completing his service in 1982, he began a two-year post-graduate residency program, earning a Certificate of Specialization in Periodontics, as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry degree in June, 1984. He opened his periodontal and implant surgery practice in Lafayette in September, 1984 at its current location and has been pleased to serve the periodontal and implant-related needs of patients in the Greater Lafayette area for over thirty years.
Dr. Cook has been married to his wife, Nancy, 'forever.' They have two grown sons, Tye and Clay, who graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and Indiana University. Tye and wife, Cyrena, live in Fishers with their sons, Henry and James, and daughter, Kate. Their younger son, Clay, and wife, Hannah, live in Chicago.
Steve and Nancy both enjoy travel with family and friends when the opportunities present. Dr. Cook is an avid golfer and plays as much as possible. Nancy is a registered nurse with her Masters in Social Work. She serves in various counseling positions in Lafayette. Please be ready to share your travelogues and golf stories with him!
Dr. Cook takes great pride in the quality of the services he provides his patients. He routinely completes forty to fifty hours a year of continuing education programs and classes, insuring that his patients continue to receive the most comprehensive and advanced care available to them.
Deb supports Dr. Cook by managing his communication regarding patients and their family dentist. She also helps with special projects where Dr. Cook is working with the general dental community in the Greater Lafayette area to make everyone aware of changes and advances in the field of periodontics and implant-related services. She further is responsible for tracking follow-up with patients so we can help insure continuity and completion of necessary treatments as recommended for individual patients.
All three ladies are from the Lafayette area and still reside locally. Retta has an Associates Degree in Medical Secretary, has two grown children, four grandchildren and lives in Clinton County with husband, Rich. She is active in her church and community and has been part of the office for over seventeen years. Deb has been part of Dr. Cook's team for over nineteen years. She and husband, Rick, have three grown children, a Cocker Spaniel and a Lhasa Apso mix, and is active in her church and civic community. Kim, who joined the team most recently, had worked in the hospitality field. She has three daughters and a grandson, Tommy. She keeps busy with her youngest's school activities and shopping with all three daughters.
