Dr. Julie (Dickerson) Steinmetz was born in Columbus and grew up in Commiskey, Indiana. While in elementary and middle schools in North Vernon, she was a competitive gymnast who trained at Madison Gymnastics World. She then attended Jennings County High School, where she participated in tennis, swimming, and diving and graduated in the top of her class. She later received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.
After graduation, Dr. Steinmetz worked as a chemist at Schwarz Pharma in Seymour for one year. She then worked as a quality control representative at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2004, Dr. Steinmetz began dental school and graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2008. To pursue her dream of working with children, she continued her studies for two additional years at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. She received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and her Masters Degree in Pediatric Dentistry from Indiana University School of Dentistry. During her residency, she was honored with the Arthur Klein Research Award and the G. R. Baker Fellowship Award.
Dr. Steinmetz currently lives in Columbus, Indiana with her husband, Matthew, her two children Samuel and Josephine, and their three dogs. She enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Absolutely love taking my kiddos here! The staff is always nice and make my kids comfortable with going to the dentist! My son had 2 fillings today and left smiling!

Highly recommend. The hygienists are all sweet, and patient. We had a terrible experience at a local dentist office and I worried the outcome for my guy with his fears. But they were so caring and involved. Dr. Steinmetz is wonderful and personable. Our hygienist Kamry was SO sweet and made my little guy feel safe! Thank you all!!

They are all really great with my children. My children actually have no problem with going to the dentist. We have been going here for years. My children actually like going to the dentist. When we first came here my son had a fear of dentist because of the one we previously went to but now he has no issue and even often says that he'll go first.

Hands down best Pediatric Dentist's office ever!!!! Our son had a terrible experience at the Pediatric Dentist down the road from this office and Dr. Steinmetz's office has answered our questions, knew what they were talking about, gentle and patient with our son. They took their time getting him comfortable to the point he wanted to go in the room by himself (he's 6). We are completely blown away by this office.

Dr. Julie and her staff are phenomenal!!! We took our very young son today for a first time visit and to examine a chipped tooth. Dr. Julie was fun, energetic, and worked with our toddler to help him feel safe and involved with the entire process! There were zero tears and TONS of giggles! My husband and I left wishing Dr. Julie treated adults so that she could be our dentist too!!

We are new to Dr. Steinmetz office and I am absolutely pleased. Everyone there is so very nice. I love how good they all are with my daughter. She is only 4 and they all go out of their way to make sure she is as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend Dr. Steinmetz to everyone!
