Since graduation from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry, I have been in private practice for over 30 years. I have also taught part time at MCV Dental School, lectured statewide, and written articles for dental journals, particularly in the area of temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ). I have built an excellent reputation as a highly skilled and technically advanced dentist who consistently delivers the finest dental care to his patients. I am known as a dentist who absolutely loves his chosen career! It has been a joy and a privilege to watch children Ive treated grow up and bring in their own children now for dental care. As a result of treating multiple generations, I have been able to participate in family dental care from first teeth to complex full mouth reconstructions and everything in between.

I am a life member in the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, and the Richmond Dental Society. I have my fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and am an international fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy. I am a member of the Richmond Dental Study Club, the Commonwealth Dental Academy, and The Dawson Academy. I am an alumni of the Pankey Institute, the American Equilibration Society, and the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

I was born and raised here in Richmond, Virginia where I attended the Collegiate School. After graduating from Collegiate, I attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. While at Bucknell, I acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and was named All-Patriot League in swimming all four years. After college, I received a post-baccalaureate in pre-medical graduate health sciences with a focus on physiology. I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the VCU School of Dentistry, historically MCV. I have traveled across the state of Virginia and to the country of Jamaica volunteering my dental services in underserved areas. I practice all aspects of general dentistry and constantly seek continuing education courses. I am a member of the COFS Implant Study Club, the Richmond ITI Study Club, Richmond Dental Study Club, The Virginia Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and am a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy biking the great trails surrounding the James River or tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding through it. In addition, I am very passionate about traveling the world in search of surf, snow, food, and culture.

I grew up in northern Virginia and moved to Richmond to pursue my education. I attended Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated from the Honors College with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. While at VCU, I was the president of the VCU Dental Club. It was during this time that I first started volunteering with Mission of Mercy Projects, providing free dental care to underserved communities across the state of Virginia. I developed a passion for these missions and continued volunteering with MoM Projects throughout undergraduate, dental school, and residency. I attended the VCU School of Dentistry where I received my Doctorate in Dental Surgery. While in dental school, I was a member of the Psi Omega Fraternity, Hispanic Dental Society, and social chair of my class. One of my favorite mission projects during dental school was when I spent a week in rural Jamaica providing care to locals alongside my classmates.

After dental school, I completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the McGuire Veterans Hospital here in Richmond. During these two years, I received extensive training with regards to crown and bridge, dentures, root canals, extractions, bone grafts, implant placement and restoration, and IV sedation. After my residency, I spent two years working at a pediatric dental office, spending one day a week in the OR at St. Marys addressing severe decay in young children and special needs patients. I love working with children and continue to work part time at the same pediatric dental office.

A general dentist is the primary care provider for patients of all ages and is responsible for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of conditions, disorders and diseases affecting the teeth, gums, jaw and face. At Steadman Family Dentistry, we take pride in treating patients in age from 1-100. Furthermore we take pride in performing the majority of our procedures in-house. We do however work very closely with a variety of specialists and maintain close professional relationships with many, should you require a referral for further treatment.
