'Dr. John' grew up in the small town of Screven, Georgia in Wayne County and graduated from Wayne County High School in 1991. After completing undergraduate training in only 3 years at Georgia Southern University he was accepted early into The Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry (Now, Augusta University, College of Dental Medicine). He graduated from The Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry earning his doctorate in dental medicine and many awards including Valedictorian of The Dental Class of 1998. Dr. John was not only known for his academic achievements in school, but was also voted to receive the 'Dolly Award' which is awarded to the senior dental student, by their fellow classmates, who best represents the attributes of Ms. Dolly Hearn a senior dental student whos life was taken early in the summer of 1990 but whose legacy of professionalism, empathy and perseverance lives on.

After completing his dental school training, Dr. John completed 2 years of post doctoral training in the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry at The Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry and The Childrens Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.

Dr. John opened Statesboro Childrens Dental Center in the summer of 2000 and is currently on staff at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. John considers his Christian Faith, his family and caring for his patients as the most important things in his life. He is an active member of First Baptist Church Statesboro where he has served in many roles through the years including teaching children's Sunday School, media team, serving as a Deacon and serving in the college ministry. He is married to Laura Wasdin who he loves working with at their office and raising their two beautiful children, Lyndsey and Jake. In his free time Dr. John enjoys SCUBA diving with his family, boating, traveling, and outdoor activities especially anything to do with the lake.

RDH, BS- Dental Hygienist Meredith graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Medical College of Georgia in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. She has been a fill-in hygienist for Statesboro Childrens Dental Center since 2005 and joined our team full time in 2014. She is a native of Glennville and has resided in Statesboro since 2003. Meredith is married to Andy and they have three children, Ava, Charlie, and Tess. She is a member of First Baptist Church Statesboro and enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and being with family and friends.

RDH--Assoc. in Dental Hygiene Wendy graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 1992 with an Associates degree in Dental Hygiene and received the Proctor and Gamble award of Excellence in that same year. She is the wife of Ken Butler to whom she has been married for 22 years and is the mother of two beautiful girls, Kate and Emily and co-parents her nephew Alexander. They are long time residents of Bryan county and are active members of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Pembroke.Her interests are spending time with family and friends, playing with her two minature dacshunds and being an active member of a women's Bible study group.

Book Keeping and Dental Assistant After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education and teaching High School math classes for seven years, Laura helped her husband, Dr. John, open Statesboro Childrens Dental Center in July, 2000. In the beginning, Laura used her love of mathematics in her role as bookkeeping administrator. Gradually, Laura began to work alongside the assistants and hygienists to help with patient care. Now she enjoys both roles of assisting with patients and also taking care of the bookkeeping side of the practice. Laura and Dr. John have two children and enjoy, very much, living and working in Statesboro. When she is not working at the office, Laura enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, supporting her children in their various sports and activities and serving in her church.

Business Office ManagerAlice began her career in the pediatric dental field when she joined Dr. Wasdins team in September of 2000 in the front office and currently serves as the Business Office Manager.

Alice resides in Statesboro, GA with her husband, JJ and their daughter, Kaylee. She enjoys spending time with her family, serving as the Mission Friends Director at her church, and supporting Georgia Southern University Athletics. She is most passionate about traveling and cheering her daughter on at the soccer field. Alice says of her job: 'It brightens my day to see all the sweet little faces peeking through the window of my office. I feel very blessed to work in such a caring environment'.

Dental AssistantCarmen has been a Pediatric Dental Assistant since 1993. She started out as a receptionist for a Pediatric Dentist on St. Simons Island and within a few months was offered the opportunity to train as a chair-side assistant. She worked on St. Simons for 11 years before relocating to Statesboro. She has worked with Dr. John since 2006.

Dental AssistantAshley graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Multimedia Communications and a minor in Criminal Justice. After working at radio stations and event planning, which she believes gave her the opportunity to hone her customer care skills, she decided to explore her interest in dentistry by pursuing a career in dental assisting. She joined our team at Statesboro Children's Dental Center in March of 2021 and has excelled in providing the best care to our families. She is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but has come to settle back in the heart of Statesboro. In 2016, she married Wes, on Jekyll Island. They now have three children: Emersyn, Remi, and Fisher.

Reception Area ManagerTabitha joined our team in March of 2021, and she is likely one of the first people to greet you and to help you get on your way after visiting us. She is the perfect person for this position. Her passion for caring for people developed early in her childhood and she always knew that she wanted to work in a position of serving others. She attended and graduated from Ogeechee Technical College earning a certificate in medical coding and has had the opportunity to work in several medical offices to enhance her customer service skills. She always knew she wanted to work in the dental setting and feels blessed by the opportunity to join our team at Statesboro Childrens Dental Center.
