Dr. Sonny graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering in 1992. He later pursued a career in dentistry at the University Of Missouri, where he obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1997. Since entering the field of dentistry, he has been heavily involved in training and perfecting his art in cosmetic, implant, and sedation dentistry.
He has obtained numerous certifications in all aspects of the aforementioned fields and has provided exceptional care to his patients who require general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry. Dr. Sonny puts great emphasis on his patients individual needs and dental aspirations, and takes great pride in ascertaining which treatments will yield the most favorable results for his patients.

Dr. Lachappell received her dental degree from Centro Escolar University in the Philippines in 1997. After completing special training at UCLA and other dental programs, she earned her US license in 2007 and now has over 19 years of experience. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Sacramento Dental District Society.
Dr. Lachappell enjoys the sense of accomplishment in knowing that she is able to gain the trust of her patients and help them change their lives. She loves working with patients of all ages in every aspect of dentistry, and patients appreciate her gentle touch, aesthetic eye, and expertise in advanced procedures such as tooth extractions. She comes to work every day with a strong passion for dentistry and a determination to meet each patients needs.
She is actively involved in her church as a Sunday School teacher, where she utilizes her love of music and childcare. Dr. Lachappell sings and plays several instruments and participates heartily in her churchs charity events. She is married to a wonderful husband and partner, with whom she is raising two very active boys.
Dr. Lee graduated from University of the Pacific in May 2021 and is a dentist at Star Dental Cosmetic & Implant Center at our Roseville location. Dr. Lee started getting into dentistry in her younger years as she enjoyed going to the dentist as a child. She loves the aesthetic of teeth and is a people person! Dr. Lee enjoys drawing, sketching, and hiking in her free time when she isnt treating patients!

Do not recommend this dentist. First, they use incorrect codes so that insurance doesn't cover what they should. Second, I tried to reschedule an appointment today because my 5 year old had woken up at 2am with a fever and cough (Covid symptoms) and I was told I would be charged a $150 cancellation fee and the best option would be to bring my sick child into the office. I ended up doing just that, because I was not going to pay $150 on top of the $550 I was already paying (that I will be contacting my insurance about using the correct code). I felt stressed and guilty knowing my child had to sit there with me during a deep cleaning while he was sick. The staff is very friendly and they do a good job, it's very unfortunate the way they are ran.

Beautiful location. Staff and service is always amazing. I imagine most people do not enjoy going to the dentist, but this place is wonderful. I have had a great experience with Dr. Lee. The receptionists and dental assistants are also super awesome!

Best dentist office ever, very nice and very friendly team. The hygienic!, she is very very professional, I usually have more pain and discomfort when I brush my teeth. I really like hir and highly recommend her . I'm very satisfied with the quality of her work and the overall office staff.

This is a great place to get dental care. All the staff actually seems to care about my health and well being and that I have a good experience. Most other dentists I go to just shoo me in, clean my teeth, and shoo me out.

I love this place I have had many diff dentists through the years and these people actually treat u like family !!! I am having implants put in . So far we did the top and I'm in zero pain ! Love them !

I've been a dental patient at Star Dental for over 20 years. I have always believed that dental work should be painless without getting knocked-out, and now with today's technology and the expertise of Dr. Sonny and Fara Afshar they have it down to perfection! Even though they are the experts, they actually listen to me and my concerns on any pending proceedure. They are both attentive, caring and strict professionals at the same time. Even though they are always extremely busy, they don't rush your procedure, or just try to get you out the door to get to the next patient! Their staff are probably trained to perform in the same manner, and 90% of the time they have! The cost of their work is probably higher than most, but if they can they will work with you on the pricing! The updated technology and the environment in their practice will be hard to compete with! You won't go wrong if you choose to give them the opportunity to treat and serve you!

I would recommend no one go here. The staff bullied me. Was not wearing mask threatens police on me. I have reported them malpractice. There office is not clean. The staff does not where masks. They even called Owner on there personal phone refused have Owner call my phone. Could have given me covid phone not sanitized. The office inside does not look sanitized. I even have a voice mail submitted of time my appointment 10am. The manager asked me bunch questions refused to answer mine. Then had all other colleagues bully me. I've reported them. Highly recommend going somewhere else safe in pandemic

Dr Lee and every staff person were just as nice as could be. Dr Lee explained everything clearly and thoroughly. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. As a new patient they made me feel welcome. Very communicative practice as well.

This is the worst office ever the incompetency of these dentist that claim to be cosmetic dentist they're not! They charge three times with anybody else charges they say they're going to do great work but their general dentist they can't do or shouldn't do any cosmetic work because they're not capable of it they're only skilled to do fillings in that type of thing cleanings they have permanently maimed and disfigured my gums from charging me for bone graft that they did not place in and now they refuse to repair the work I've been going through hell with this office since November 4 and they've offered my money back but now refuse to give it. They keep going to the cheapest cheapest labs to make the most money if they do a $800 job they want to charge you seven grand for itPlease take a good look at these pictures what cosmetic dentist would do this to any individual? Please learn from my lesson don't come here

Dr Lee was so wonderful and the staff that took such good care of my young son today. He had to have two extractions and it was his first time with anesthesia of any sort. They took great care and made him feel so comfortable!

I am so extremely pleased to be fortunate enough to work in the same building of Star Dental's beautiful new location. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the staff and Dr. Fara prior to their opening and found all of them to be extremely kind and personable. I had not had a good feeling about the prior dental office I had gone to and immediately knew when I met these people that I was making a move. I had my records forwarded to them and made my first appointment. From the moment I stepped into the reception area, I noticed how efficient AND pleasant the staff was! This to me speaks volumes about their level of happiness working for this office which in turn tells me Doctors Sonny and Fara Afshar are good to their employees or this would not resonate. I had my first consultation a couple of weeks ago and was very nervous. Anita was right there with me to ease my nerves. I have many health issues that have caused a great deal of damage to my teeth. I have been ashamed and embarrassed by my smile for a very long while now. EVERYONE involved in my consultation treated me the the utmost dignity and respect from start to finish. They have so much compassion for what a person is going through!! Dr. Fara went out of her way to explain all of my immediate needs as well as long term treatment plan goals in great and understandable detail. Yesterday, I went in for two temporary crowns on my top front teeth. Again Anita knew just how nervous I was and was by my side a good portion of the prep time. Chelsea was so kind and patient with me throughout the appointment. I have NEVER gone to a dentist that the shots for numbing didn't hurt, no matter how much topical ointment is used. I did not even feel the needles being used!! Dr. Fara was so thorough in making sure everything was done just right. All I wanted for Christmas was my two front teeth and they knew this. The temporary crowns have given me my smile back!!! I can not sing high enough praises for this office and staff!! I have referred people and will continue to do so. Please, please, if you are looking for a new dentist or your first dentist, contact this office!! And to this entire office, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart! God bless you!!

I have gone to Star Dental now for about 7 years and I absolutely love them! From the moment you walk in you're greeted by an incredible staff who really care about you and your visit. They're willing to listen and work with you, timely and financially. Very understanding. Dr. Sonny Afshar & his wife, Dr. Farrah Afshar, and Dr. Margarita Lachappell are so wonderful at what they do. They really make you feel at ease & comfortable while maintaining a professional style when they do any work in your mouth. From consultation to cleaning to implants, they truly have given me a great and confident smile. A smile says a lot about a person and they treat it with care. I also love that their work lasts! They do their best to give you a pain free experience with great results. I'm so thankful and blessed to know these people. They've enriched my life in more ways then they know. I love going to the dentist and seeing "my family". Cleanings are like a day at the spa for my mouth. So much fun and so enjoyable. I highly recommend this office.

Start of the art office with competent wonderful clinicians. Everything was explained clearly with no push to buy any services. I felt comfortable at a dentist office which kid a change. Rather than telling me what's going on, they showed me and explained various ways I can improve my oral health. Everyone was nice and polite. Appointment ran on time. No complaints. Very thankful to have found my new dentist.

Such an amazing office with the nicest staff that are like a family and when you walk in, they make you feel part of the family. The office was super clean, and everyone was vaccinated, professional, and friendly. Dr. Fara knows her craft thoroughly well. She is patience personified. She is highly knowledgeable, very gentle, takes time to put the patient at ease, and keeps you informed as she works on your teeth. I had 3 teeth worked on in during this visit, including two temporary crowns. I left very happy with the attention and care that I received from Dr. Fara and her two great assistants Anita and Bianca. I would not go anywhere else after coming here. I highly recommend Star Dental in Roseville to anyone looking for a 5-star Dentist in this area. Dr. Fara and her team ROCK!

I have had so many bad experiences with dental treatments but when Neli Petkova did my deep cleaning, I felt no pain at all. It was like magic, she worked on my teeth so wonderfully while being so caring and patient. She is the best hygienist in the practice and I completely trust her with my teeth. Thank you Neli for another job well done .

The first thing I've noticed was the beautiful decor. It feels like you are in a hollywood/chic dental office, yet the people are all down to earth. Everyone (front desk, assistants, hygienist, dentist...etc) I've met or come in contact here are extremely nice and helpful! I love the positive energy! I also enjoy the education and explanations. I am always curious so I ask a lot of questions about each procedure, and the tools, and techniques etc... They have been more than willing to answer my questions and educate me on what's going on. I absolutely love that!
