Dr. Mortensen is a Utah native and a 2nd generation dentist. After graduating from Taylorsville High School he began his education at the University of Utah majoring in Medical Biology. He received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at the University of Washington School of Dentistry where he graduated 2nd in his class, with honors. He went on to complete his orthodontic residency and received his specialty certificate from St. Louis University where he also received his Masters degree in Dental Science.
Dr. Mortensen is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, American Board of Orthodontics and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Society. Our esteemed doctor is also a respected researcher. His research has been published in the Professions leading journal, American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Dr. Mortensen is the president of the Granger District Dental Society.
In addition to running a private practice, Dr. Mortensen keeps abreast with latest techniques in Orthodontics and regularly attends continuing education meetings and seminars, continuously advancing his expertise in the art and science of orthodontics.
Personally, Dr. Mortensen and his wife, Amy Vranes, have been married for over fifteen years and have four children, Sam, Ella, Max, and Sophia. When he is not caring for our patients, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Our team of professionals is among the best in the nation. We have over 100 years of combined experience, with each office member averaging over 10 years working in the field of orthodontics. We commit to constant learning and implementation of the latest treatment methods and technologies through continuing education. This is just one of the wonderful qualities that set us apart.

We love Stansbury Park Orthodontics. They go above and beyond for their patients and make sure their treatment is top notch. Lobby waiting time is practically zero. They have come in on a weekend for us in an emergency and they have squeezed my son in when needed. Everyone in the office are so friendly and I feel like they truly care about us as patients. I plan to have my other children treated at Stansbury Park Orthodontics as well.

This is by far the most caring, friendly and patient oriented office you will find. Patient care is the best of the best, prices are reasonable and completely transparent and billing options are flexible, clearly defined and compassionate that orthodontics is expensive. A very caring group of people who you can tell love their jobs and the people they treat!

Horrible experience. Orthodontist ground past the glue into my tooth and when I jumped he kept going and my tounge got caught up in his grinder tool. Several times! Never asked me if I needed a break or to stop completely. Everyone was worried about their overtime and complaining about it rather than focusing on me, the only patient there. Will not recommend. Will not go back. But oh! They do have TVs on the ceiling

At 30 years old it's great to have such an amazing and supportive group of people to encourage your teenage dream of braces. These ladies and gentleman have made this the most enjoyable teeth experience I could have ever had. They don't hesitate to help when you call and are so fun to see every month. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and staff! Love this place and these people!

The girlies there are all just so wonderful. They all take the time to really talk to us and listen. And Dr. Carr is awesome!! He's always so nice! And they are all very knowledgeable, helpful and fun. My son loves the brace bucks. Being able to earn them and get things that he wants is fantastic. Thank you all of you!!

Stansbury Park Orthodontics is amazing! Everyone on their staff it's so wonderful! Ami and Kat have worked with our daughter the most and have been awesome! They always go the extra mile, make sure she's comfortable and well taken care of. I really feel like we've made some great friends in the office. All my kids will get their braces here!
