The surgical staff at Dakota Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in the administration of IV sedation and surgery. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies, and are CPR certified.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires up to 6 additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, we treat a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Our surgeons practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise in corrective jaw surgery, wisdom tooth removal and oral pathology. They also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries and perform a full range of dental implant procedures.

Our staff is trained in assisting our surgeons with IV sedation within our office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery. In addition, general anesthesia provided by a board-certified anesthesiologist is available within our facility.

Dr. Scott Rake graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1995. He went on to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Rake joined Dakota Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1999. He has been an adjunctive clinical professor at the University of Minnesota division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2000. Dr. Rake is involved in resident surgeon education in the areas of pediatric anesthesia and office-based surgical procedures. Dr. Rake provides full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in all five office locations.

Dr. Rake is a board-certified member of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Minnesota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, and the St. Paul District Dental Society.

Dr. Rake received her D.D.S. degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1997. She then completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is a graduate of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program at the University of Minnesota.

In 2002, Dr. Rake joined Dakota Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She remains active in academics as an adjunct associate professor at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, division of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Rake is a board-certified member of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the St. Paul District Dental Society. She is a member and past president of the Minnesota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
