Dr. Anna Shoopak is a compassionate dentist committed to the highest quality of patient care. She enjoys taking the time to get to know her patients. Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, she moved to the U.S. when she was eight years old.
Dr. Shoopak received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida. She pursueda career in Dentistry at Nova Southeastern University where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. Dr. Shoopak furthered her training by completing a General Practice Residency in New York City at The Mount Sinai Hospital in affiliation with the Icahn School of Medicine. During her time at Mount Sinai, she became proficient in many advanced aspects of dentistry including cosmetic dentistry, crown and bridge, and implant treatments.
Dr. Shoopak enjoys being involved in humanitarian dentistry and has been on mission trips to treat patients in Nicaragua and Jamaica. She also volunteers in the community providing dental treatment to patients at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic and to children who have limited access to healthcare at the Tampa Bay Rays Team Smile events. In her spare time, Dr. Shoopak enjoys boating, trying out new recipes, exercising, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Dr. Gutu grew up in Moldova, a small country between Ukraine and Romania known for its temperate climate and well-established wine industry. She graduated in 1999 from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. In 2005, Dr. Gutu earned her DMD from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class and began work as a general dentist. She married her husband Steve in 2012 and they had their daughter Anya in 2015. Dr. Gutu opened St. Pete Modern Dentistry in 2016 to provide excellent dental care for patients in the greater St. Petersburg area.
In 2018, Dr. Gutu received the prestigious Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). In order to receive this award, Dr. Gutu completed 500 hours of continuing dental education, passed a comprehensive written exam and fulfilled three years of continuing membership with the AGD. The Fellowship Award symbolizes excellence in the dental profession and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Over the years, Dr. Gutu has had the opportunity to work in varied settings as a dentist, including volunteer work at dental clinics and international trips to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. She has gained significant experience with different aspects of dentistry, including pediatrics, oral surgery, root canal treatments, implant placements and the use of soft and hard tissues lasers. Dr. Gutu proudly stands behind her work and will do all she can to deliver a gentle, friendly and relaxing dental experience.
Hilary was born and raised in Dunedin, FL. She moved to St. Pete in 2007 and shortly after began her dental hygiene career. She graduated dental hygiene school from St. Pete College and has been practicing as a hygienist for over 6 years. She loves dentistry as it enables her to meet and bond with so many different people. She has a number of hobbies including sewing and card making, but most of her free time she spends with her grand-babies! She is a source of positivity in our office and as a hygienist she provides outstanding oral hygiene care and instruction to our patients.
From Barnaul, a city in Siberia, Zhenya is now enjoying warm Florida. Nevertheless, she still enjoys winter sports, one of her favorites being skiing. Zhenya loves traveling, dancing and has many other hobbies. When she has free time, she spends it with her husband and adorable daughter. She has been in the dental field for 20 years, serving as a hygienist since 2006. With all her experience and knowledge, her main priority is making her patients happy and doing everything she can to benefit their oral health.
Jamaiya is one of the few who were born and raised in St. Petersburg! She loves spending time in the sunny outdoors. She enjoys relaxing by the pool with her three kids and loves to read. Jamaiya has been in the dental field for over 5 years and what keeps her motivated is the joy that comes from helping people. She is a valuable part of our team and often communicates with patients while answering phones, greeting at the front desk, scheduling, and much more.
Originally from Russia, Maria came to the United States and graduated from St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Florida. She has worked in dentistry since2001. As a hygienist, Maria prides herself on great patient relationships and the resulting smiles she is able to produce on a daily basis. Maria enjoys kayaking, yoga, and running.
Amber was born in Key West and moved to St. Pete two years ago. She also lived in Connecticut where she received her degree in Health Science from the Goodwin University. She is passionate about dentistry because she is able to do a variety of things in this field. She is part of all treatment aspects, including: clinical, insurance, billing, and treatment presentation. In our office she is integral for providing treatment information to our patients and providing excellent patient care with compassion and kindness. One of her hobbies is nature photography, and she enjoys spending time doing anything that has to do with the water.
Originally from Moldova, Victoria has been a resident of sunny Florida since 2016. She is a graduate of Ion Creang State University in Moldova. As our business assistant, Victoria is the smiley face who first greets our patients and answers any questions or concerns. In her leisure time she enjoys traveling, paddle boarding, and tennis.
A native of Russia, Natalia moved to the United States with her husband and twin daughters in 1998. She has worked in the dental field in St. Petersburg, Florida, since 2000. As a dental assistant, she loves making a positive difference in our patients' lives. Her goal is to assist the doctor in creating beautiful and healthy smiles in a comfortable and trustworthy setting. Natalia fills her time away from the office with family and friends. She enjoys the beautiful Sunshine State through biking, crafting, photography, kayaking and spending time at the beach.

BEST Dental and patient care I've ever experienced! I have had very traumatic experiences in the past with other dentists, but StPMD put my worries at ease. They're work is clean, fast, and they're always on time with your appointment.

I took my family somewhere else after 2 years. From the moment we started with them my husband & I both felt the doctor is too anxious to make money. Recently the office wanted us to sign a paper given to them by Dr Gutu, that we understand how much the price of a filling will go up because we wanted to delay a procedure again. Yes it was delayed because of sickness from Covid-19, because of 2 wisdom teeth growing in, in the same time and a minor concussion that took 4 month to recover from...what un responsible people we are...anyway because I don't wanted to make a decision right away and wanted to call back, with a document like that we felt totally insulted. Even consulted with my family lawyer about it.

Ok place to get your teeth cleaned, any major work is very expensive considering the low budget operation. Prices are at over $1,000 per hour for a dentist fixing teeth.

I can not describe how wonderful these people are. For someone, like myself, that grew up with a unbelievable fear and anxiety due to an early childhood dentist, Dr. Elena Gutu is absolutely amazing. I am so sensitive as to not even "allow" her to poke with the pick during initial exam, that is how overly sensitive I am. Their patience and understanding is beyond expectations. Other dentist have actually told me to "deal with it". With Dr. Gutu, their most important aspect is to ensure that I am comfortable and numb, before anything occurs. The work performed is flawless. I can not thank them enough.

St Pete Modern Dentistry saved me! I was on vacay and my crown fell out! They were the ONLY dental office in SPB that took me in on the same day and re cemented my crown! Dr Shoopak and office staff were very friendly, accommodating, and just wonderful! Thaaaank You!

I love the woman that work here. They are kind and professional. The office is kept very clean and well organized. I had not been to a dentist for years. They were able to do a deep cleaning, caps on my front teeth where the roots were showing and a couple crowns. Unfortunately my new dental insurance this year changed and the office doesn't take it. I also moved to Tampa. I would make the drive over if my insurance was excepted. I have referred them to my friends and they are very happy with them

I had to find a new dental provider, I have insurance and found this practice through my portal. I called and was so relieved that I could get in right away because I chipped my front tooth and I wanted it fixed ASAP. I asked the office person over the phone if they needed to verify my insurance, they said no and that it would just be done tomorrow. I took off work this morning, arrived at my appointment, and was told that they don't accept my insurance. This all could have been avoided with better customer service. I was already feeling bad and self conscious because I just chipped a front tooth. The doctors may be great at this practice, but I will never find out.

I'm from out of state and had slight emergency - they got me in on two days, and quick to get me in the chair once I filled out paperwork. Clean, modern and professional. They showed empathy and care and kept me informed of options and what they would do. If I lived here, they'd be my full time dentistry.
