Dr. Gina McCray is a native of Southern Maryland and has been practicing general dentistry since 1987. She performs all aspects of family dental care, and her special interests include periodontal therapy, cosmetic, dental sleep medicine, and implant dentistry, as well as childrens dental care.
Dr. McCray is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School, in Baltimore. She is a member of both scholastic and prosthodontic honor societies and has also been awarded the Nathan David Gold Award for Conscientious and Enthusiastic Dedication to Clinical Practice. Shes also been awarded the 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Top Practice Award from the Smiles for Life Foundation, as well as nominated for the Crown Councils Best Doctor to Work For. Dr. McCray is devoted to patient education and preventive dental care in order to achieve good long-term dental health. It is her philosophy that to be able to address the patients needs and develop a superior long-term result, the dentist must be able to take the time to be a good listener and give patients the personal attention they deserve.
Dr. McCray is a fellow of the International Dental Implant Association, as well as a member of Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Crown Council, and the Smiles for Life Foundation.
Dr. McCray has gone through rigorous training and continuing education in dental sleep medicine, and she is recognized by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine as a Qualified Dentist. Dr. McCray is actively working with multiple physicians in treating their patients with obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy. In addition, she was president of the Patuxent Dental Society.
Dr. McCray was raised in southern Anne Arundel County where her father and family retired after 23 years in the Air Force. Dr. McCray has maintained her general dentistry practice in Mechanicsville since 1994. Her hobbies include family activities, racquetball, gardening, cooking, photography, theater, and traveling.
Dr. Kara McCray Demer received her B.S. specializing in neurobiology and physiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Dr. Demer is a member of Gamma Pi Delta, Prosthodontic Honor Society, and three national honor societies: Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Dr. Demer was awarded the Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities Award and the American Academy of Orofacial Pain Award. Dr. Demer was nominated as a Young Dentist of the Year through the Crown Council organization, providing her the opportunity to train with the world-renowned cosmetic dentist, Dr. David Hornbrook, for advanced smile designs. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Maryland State Dental Association, Patuxent Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Lifetime Qualified Member of the Crown Council.
Dr. Demer has gone through rigorous training and continuing education in dental sleep medicine and has earned the prestigious title of Diplomate with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. She is actively working with multiple physicians in treating their patients with obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy.
Her interests include CAD/CAM restorative procedures, cosmetic smile design, dental sleep medicine, implant dentistry, and orthodontics. In her spare time, Dr. Demer enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and rescue dog. She plays the piano, co-directs the youth choir at her church, plays many sports, and works out. She also enjoys painting, crocheting, clay sculpting, and cooking/baking for family and friends.
As a native of Southern Maryland, Dr. Demer enjoys serving the community in which she was raised. Dr. Demers practice philosophy revolves around creating a relationship with her patients in which she can explore their goals and desires while working together to maintain dental health and function for a lifetime.

Can you imagine looking forward to going to the dentist? You can if you are a patient at St Mary's Dental. From the moment you walk in you are warmly greeted and you know moving forward that the quality of care you receive is their top priority. Absolutely the worst customer service ever! When the worker compares your unexpected situation and asks, "if you had cancer, would you..." and I completely cut her off because this statement had absolutely nothing to do with insurance. This statement was very disrespectful and completely inappropriate. Please reconsider going here if you want to be treated with respect and most importantly, receive the right treatment. Lori is a really rude manager.

I have been going to St Mary's Dental for 15+ years. Dr McCray is a fantastic dentist who puts you at ease. Her daughters, Dr Demer DDS and Audrey McCray, hygienist are great as well. This family practice includes the staff who put you at ease the moment you walk into the office. Both Dr McCray and Dr Demer take the time to explain the procedure they are going to do. I have no surprises on what to expect. The office is clean modern and up to date with equipment. I was pleasantly surprised to get my crown the same day. If your looking for a dentist you look no further. It is well worth your time. I highly recommend these dentist.

I love coming into the office for all of my dental care. The staff is all so amazing (especially Audrey); Audrey and Dr. McCray are both so patient and gentle. My dental anxiety is gone. I always feel like I am visiting with family when I am in the office. I highly recommend everyone to come here !!!

Dr McCray is always such an amazing doctor. As is the entire staff! They always make me feel welcome and quell any nervousness or apprehension that I may have at an appointment. I haven't been to the dentist in some time.. Having life change drastically in just a few years caused many things for me. I sold my home after being born and raised in it for 36 years, was blessed with twins, and totally relocated having no family nor close friends made things challenging for me. When I found myself in some serious pain I went strait to St. Marys dental. They are a good team to have help you, and I definitely needed a team. Jenny did the deep clean and we worked very well through that process. I felt comfortable, and she did a great job given her task. Doc gave me some very specific instructions and she means business! Understand, this is a group that very much cares about your over all well being, so for me, I got a little "tough love" that was needed. From this point forward St. Marys dental is going to be a major part of my life and that's ok because when your there you feel at home anyway. Thank you to ALL!! See ya soon!! Stacy Daly
