Dr. Derek Vadnal graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 2004. He was part of a fast paced general dental practice in Manhattan, KS for 4 years while his wife, Jamie,attended Kansas State University obtaining her Veterinarian degree. He is excited to be back in the St Louis area with his own practice enhancing his skills and watching his practice grow. He and his team are dedicated to their patients delivering care in a gentle, comfortable caring manner.
Dr. Vadnal has been very busy since obtaining the St Louis Smile Center getting certified in Missouri for Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS), CPR, conscious sedation, intravenous sedation monitoring, and anxiolysis dentistry. Dr. Vadnal is committed to being a continuous student to maintain dental excellence in his practice.
Dr. Vadnal is a member of the Crown Council, a group of over 500 American dental teams whose purpose is to raise standards of dental care. Less than 1% of dentists have achieved this honor. Dr. Vadnal is also a member of the Missouri Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Greater St. Louis Dental Society.
Dr. Vadnal and his wife Jamie live in OFallon, IL. Dr. Vadnal practices his skills of communication, patience, and caring while sharing his home not only with Jamie but a beautiful baby girl born in October 2013 and a son born in October 2016.. They also have a menagerie of cats, dogs and various small critters. He's an avid sports enthusiast for the Cardinals and Blues. His staff allows him to continue rooting for his first love, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
St Louis Smile Center has been in the Bridgeton area for over 30 years. Dr Vadnal has been our fierce leader since May 2008 and we are proud to say we have carried the same standards & quality of dentistry for all these years. We continually welcome new patients to join our dental home.

For several years team members have traveled with Smiles for Life volunteers to the Dominican Republic togive dental careto the underprivileged.

The staff is amazing, polite and personable they make you feel comfortable. The receptionist are very sweet and can just talk to them with ease. Their office is nice, their music selection is on point and the dentist is very knowledgeable and polite. This office runs like clockwork.

I had my first visit with Dr. Vadnal and staff here at St. Louis Smile Center and it was very pleasant. From the first phone call to set up an appointment, to the visit itself, the staff was very kind. Also, Dr. Vadnal was very friendly and took the time to explain what he was going to do before he did it. He also welcomed any and all questions. I was very impressed with this office and look forward to making this my official home for dental visits.

I would not be happier any other place. Staff is professional, yet like family. Very caring and attentive. Excellent workmanship on my teeth. Always getting compliments about the work done ! Cleanings are not feared. Always made to feel comfortable. Close and reasonable,and kind, What more can ya ask for ?

I first went to Dr. Vadnal as a scouting mission for my wife's dental appointment. She has (in her own words) the common "irrational fear of dentists" and Dr. Vadnal is skilled in sedation dentistry. Since that first visit, I've been back several times for some major procedures (fillings, root canal, etc...remember to floss kids!) and regular cleanings. I've brought my wife and our 4 sons and will be bringing my baby daughter as soon as she's old enough to have her teeth checked. He's very personable as is the staff and they are "almost" overly concerned with any discomfort you might have during a visit. They really do care about you as a patient and have never made me feel guilty about the shape my teeth have been in. They even give you a cookie and a bottle of water (to rinse with post cookie of course) when you leave the office! What dentist have you ever been to that does that!?!? This kind of support helps us make good decisions about my own dental health that will keep our visits down to a simply 6 month checkup. We've made Dr. Vadnal and his staff our family dentist and I would recommend him to anyone else who needs to find someone who truly cares about your dental health and will make your visit as comfortable as possible.
