At St. Louis Prosthodontics we believe that personal care and attention to detail is essential to your dental satisfaction. Its the way weve practiced dentistry in the St. Louis area for more than two decades.

Dr. Shea prides himself in being able to find workable solutions to even the most complex of dental problems. He spends hundreds of hours every year keeping on top of the latest in restorative and cosmetic procedures through journals, professional meetings and dental study groups.

Over the years hes learned that just because something is new it is not always better. Thats why he studies new trends in care so he can understand what will work in the long run and what is just a passing fad. Its all part of his commitment to you.

To me, a big part of prosthodontics is about giving patients back their quality of life. You may not think about dentistry that way, but replacing teeth creating a pleasing smile giving a patient a better bite is more than just aesthetic. People are able to enjoy eating again. They speak more clearly. They gain self-confidence.

Thats why I spend time planning your care before we start anything. Youll come away from the practice knowing we are going to do it well, we are going to do it right and we are going to do it so it will last.

Everyone in our office takes their part in treatment very seriously. But at the same time we try to practice in a relaxed environment. We also work hard to ensure you understand every part of your care, especially in cases where there are multiple doctors involved across a range of dental specialties.

Finally, I understand you may be concerned about the work youre having done. I am just as concerned, not only about how your smile will look and function today, but how it will look and function years from now. That is the measure of true success.

Dr. Shea is a Prosthodontist in private practice in Sunset Hills. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City in 1982, and his Masters of Science in Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry from the University of Michigan in 1989.

Great dentist and great staff! Dr. Shea is very thorough and has made great improvements to my teeth and my smile. His office is very flexible and got me in quickly when I had a cracked crown that needed attention. Very happy!

Unfortunately this was a referral from our orthodontist, and I did not think to review or look into this man. He put what is called a Maryland Bridge into my daughters mouth, it is a temporary fake tooth until she is 18 years old. We have been going to this man probably every other month for at least 6 to 8 months now. This Maryland Bridge that he puts into her mouth ends up falling out within days. Actually I think the second one fell out the next day! They also required the entire payment before this procedure was even implemented. We are on the fifth time that this piece has fallen out, and they are trying to make an appointment for me to come in right away, she has started school and after school activities and I cannot find a good time to take her. I really am tired of dealing with this and go through anger and upset with this whole thing. I have a lot of patience obviously, because I know a lot of people would not have gone through this and put up with this much. If you need a Pontotoc test or someone in your family does, I highly recommend looking elsewhere

This is the worst experience I have ever had with any medical professional ever. They do not treat their patients kindly and have terrible bedside manor.

Dr. Shea is an awful man. He made so many mistakes with my Grandma's oral needs and post needs. She has a strong case if she were to sue, but is so miserable and refuses to ever deal with him again. He's fortunate that it's not her character to do so. In addition, she is still dealing with the issues but with another dentist/surgeon. Also, he is unkind to patients and his staff. I will never recommend him.

Would never recommend. Big issues with office staff regarding submitting to insurance. He was very impatient with his staff- made myself and my son very uncomfortable. When confronted about insurance mistakes I was called "incredibly ignorant" and treated terribly. I will tell everyone I know not to go to this office

I was really nervous about getting major dental work done in my late 20s. But I had really jagged front teeth bc of bad enamel and I was very self conscious about it. Got referred to Dr. Shea and they put together a plan and explained it well. I was still nervous and after the procedure my bite didn't feel right but then after a couple days it settled in and now I'm very happy I had it done. My mouth had to get used to having a lot of new teeth in it. Would definitely recommend Dr. Shea and his staff to a friend.

I needed several implants to replace missing teeth, I had old crowns & bridges needing to be replaced & I needed work on every tooth remaining. I had went to the chain dentures on 4 implants done in a day (one solution for every mouth). I did not feel that was the right choice for my mouth. I did my research and I found the top Prosthodontist in our area. I met Dr. Shea and immediately knew I made the right choice. Linda his assistant has become a friend. I received a treatment plan, the cost, and a great referral for the implants...with a bonus a discount if I paid cash. The implants did not hurt at all (I'm still amazed). Dr Shea did all of the prep work and put on temps prior to the implants, I was never without teeth and the temps looked beautiful. After the implants healed, Dr. Shea finished the work on my teeth. A couple weeks later my teeth were in, yes my whole mouth...EVERY Tooth! I had an appointment and all were placed, no pain, no problems, no issues. So happy with my choice, if you won't believe my review without a negative comment here you go. My only discomfort the entire time of all the visits was not being able to partake in the great conversations because I had hands or stuff in my mouth. The photo I attached is not touched up...so wrinkles and all, but just one day after they were put on. They make me cry happy tears! Thank you Dr. Shea, Linda and the rest of your wonderful staff! My husband said he always loved my smile & now he loves the confidence that shows.

Dr. Shea is an extremely talented and meticulous dentist. In the past five years, he has replaced a very substantial bridge that included my upper front teeth, added several crowns and has maintained my smile!! At the age of 60+ I can truly say that I love my smile and highly recommend Dr. Shea!!
