Shreya Jha, DDS, comes to us from St. Lukes University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where she performed her residency training. Dr. Jha graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience before completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Touro College of Dental Medicine in West Chester, New York. During her training, Dr. Jha received the Award of Excellence from the American Student Dental Association, and, in addition to receiving certifications in Invisalign and Zoom! Whitening, obtained her Associate Fellowship Certification in Laser Dentistry from the World Clinical Laser Institute. In her free time, Dr. Jha enjoys cooking, yoga, hiking, painting and traveling. Fun fact - she is also pursuing her bachelors degree in Indian Classical Dance.
Dr. Howenstine graduated with honors from Marquette University School of Dentistry. He has practiced in Kimberly, Wisconsin with Midwest Dental. He maintains membership in the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association.
In order to provide the best possible treatment for his patients Dr. Howenstine regularly attends continuing education courses. He comes from a long line of dental professionals, with his grandfather, uncle, and father being dentists and his mother a hygienist.
In his free time Dr. Howenstine enjoys watching sports, working on cars, hunting, technology, and fitness. He regularly competes in running races in the summer and cross country ski races in the winter.
Dr. Bernard comes to us with a wealth of Pediatric Dentistry experience that all began at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Bernard went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Dr. Bernard comes to us from the Childrens National Medical Center in Washington, DC, where he fulfilled his Pediatric Dental Residency focusing on comprehensive care of medically complex children, dental rehabilitation, and oral sedation.
Dr. Bernard has also dedicated his time and services volunteering in Guatemala, and providing preventative, restorative, and oral surgery services to the children of Easter Seals as part of their UIC Special Needs Outreach program. Dr. Bernard is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is seeing patients in our newly constructed Pediatric department. We are so excited to have Dr. Bernard join our team here in southwest Michigan!

I would highly recommend St. Joseph Dentistry. I have visited a couple times and all staff was very attentive and kind. The dental hygienist thoroughly cleaned my teeth while educating me on best dental practices.

It's been a while since I went to the dentist (since I moved from Colorado) and this place was a great surprise. Massage chairs? TVs on the ceiling while the techs do their work? Helpful plans that help you save money and keep your teeth healthy? I'll say yes to all of that!!

Very little wait time including the examining room. Every staff person I have come in contact with has been more than understanding, kind and respectful. Dr. Howenstine has the absolute best chair side manner. He is thorough, and very good at explaining. He has a very calm demeanor, which is important for someone like myself. it is a great feeling when procedures and time frames are completely the clients decision. I HIGHLY recommend St. Joseph Dentistry!

BEWARE. Our daughter has two abscessed, infected teeth that require extraction. Dr. Bernard saw her on 8/24/2022 and recommended extraction of four teeth, but specifically asked us to consult with an orthodontist prior to extraction. We did as we were asked, and the orthodontist recommended extraction of only the two infected teeth. The orthodontist provided this recommendation to Dr. Bernard prior to our visit. We talked to St. Joseph Dentistry staff about the conflicting opinions, and we were told that it would be worked out when we arrived for our extraction appointment. This morning, 9/21/2022, we arrived for our extraction appointment. Our 8 year old daughter was in pain from the infected teeth and we were eager for a remedy. When we asked about the competing opinions (four teeth vs. two teeth) we were informed by the hygienist that "Dr. Bernard does not like having his plan questioned." We simply wanted Dr. Bernard to explain to us why he recommended removing four teeth instead of two. When we pressed for an explanation, we were told that Dr. Bernard would not deviate from his plan. We would have liked an explanation from him, but ultimately decided that we would proceed with Dr. Bernard's plan because our daughter was in pain and we trust that the dentist knows better than we do. However, we were informed that because we dared to ask questions of Dr. Bernard and his plan, we were no longer welcome at the practice. Utterly shocked, I asked who the managing dentist was. Dr. Howenstine came to talk to us, and we reiterated that we would be fully willing to proceed with Dr. Bernard's plan, and couldn't believe they would turn away our suffering child because we asked questions about a second opinion that they themselves asked us to get. Dr. Howenstine was unapologetic and suggested we find another dentist. Aside from being a horrible experience, this is a violation of the ADA's Code of Ethics, Section 2.F. Dentists have an ethical (and legal) obligation not to abandon patients in need of immediate care. The fact that Dr. Bernard violated this ethical obligation simply because his ego could not withstand answering a few questions about treatment for a child is unconscionable. Dr. Howenstine's apparent endorsement of this behavior fares little better in our view. Please, do yourself a favor and find a dentist that does not violate ethical canon at the expense of a child in retaliation for the minor crime of being asked a few questions.

Beautiful office with a wonderful staff. Considering I hadn't been to the dentist in longer than I'd like to share publicly it was a lot easier and painless than expected. Definitely recommend!!

Just took my three year old for her first dental check and it's a beautiful building. Great kids area for them to play and the entire staff is so nice!! Definitely recommend and our whole family will transition here!
