Dr. Apolonio Lirio, a West Virginia native, graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. After working as a nurse for several years he decided to become a dentist. Dr. Lirio went on to complete his Master of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and his Doctorate in Dental Medicine Degree from Temple University School of Dentistry.
For the last decade, Dr. Lirio has dreamed of making his vision of caring, patient-centered dentistry a reality. Since taking over the practice at SRQ Dentistry, and with the full support and enthusiasm of his entire team, Dr. Lirio is thrilled to be able to implement his vision and take dentistry in Sarasota to the next level of excellence.
Since arriving in Sarasota, Dr. Lirio has become quite active in the Sarasota community. He donates dental services to members of our community in need with Project Christmas Smile and provides support to area programs such as the Sarasota Little League, Homes For Our Troops and The Make A Wish Foundation.
Dr. Lirio volunteers his time as the Team Dentist for the Riverview High School football, basketball and lacrosse teams by providing professional grade customized mouthguards and emergency dental services for their student athletes.Dr Lirio also serves as the referring dentist for the US Soccer U17 team.
Dr. Lirio is a Clinical Instructor at the LECOM School of Dental Medicine and the Manatee Technical College Dental Assisting Program in Bradenton. He also enjoys watching college football, playing golf and spending time with his with his wife Stephanie and their children Jake, Max and Sophie.
Although she was born in Michigan, at the age of 4 her family moved to Florida and she feels she is a true Floridian. She graduated from Southeast High School and trained at Manatee Technical Institute in Bradenton to become a Certified Dental Assistant in the State of Florida. She began her dental career in the orthodontic field, where she learned all of the facets of the dental field in chairside assisting, patient treatment planning, patient scheduling and orthodontic lab procedures. She has more than 18 years in Dental Practice Management.
Some of her accomplishments include: JP Periodontal Institute, Dr. Dick Barnes Practice Development, Schuster Management Program, D.O.C. Oral Sedation, Align/Invisilign, Lumineers, Dentrix advanced training, H&R Block Tax Course and the Amscot Tax Course. She is currently a Notary in the State of Florida.
In our practice, Mary Ann is responsible for coordinating the financial prospects of our patients treatment plans and tracking patients accounts. Behind the scenes, she assures the practice runs efficiently and effectively, while keeping patient care as her top priority.

Dr. Lirio and his staff are very patient and kind. The most important thing to me is that he is conservative in treatment, meaning he won't just throw the most expensive treatment plan your way, he genuinely wants to treat you the best and most effective way, not the most costly way. He was also amazing during an emergency call I had to him while I was on vacation. He is the rare kind of dentist that practices dentistry the way it really is supposed to be. I highly reccomend him and his team.

I went to this dentist to get my broken crown replaced..everyone was great! The Dentist and staff worked with me on pushing out the different steps for the procedures so I could afford. I had my 10 year old go there and he loved the dentist (he was scared of previous). I found out his front tooth had no enamel which is why it was a problem. Previous dentist never told me that...we will be life long customer.

Dr Lirio and his staff were awesome yesterday when I needed a tooth extracted. I hadn't been to a dentist in MANY years and they made the experience as pleasant as removing a tooth can be. Amazing followup also!

SRQ Dentistry has been a part of my medical team for several years now. I see different specialists frequently and I am a medical professional myself. The office atmosphere is neat, clean, calming, and inviting. The staff goes above and beyond expectations of kindness, professionalism, and being courteous. Several detailed procedures are carefully and expertly explained by Dr Lirio after he has given generous thought to his patient's condition, economic resources, and desired outcomes. All costs, insurance, and different plans of action are explained before any work is completed giving the patient ample information to make sound decisions regarding their own treatment plans. I refer my own patients to this office any time the chance arises.

All the staff are the nicest people I've ever met. I came in with a lot of pain and they told me to not force myself and that they will work around me, they give you so much information and have a set plan and prescribed me medications for pain relief right away, they do anything to make you comfortable. :)

My wife and I made new patient appointments for cleanings and my wife specifically asked about a cleaninig prior to the appointment to insure that this would be done. Not only did she not get a cleaning, but they wanted her to come back for a deep cleaning. Cost-$780!!! My wife, a formal model, has very good teeth, she just wanted a cleaning. As a physician, I have seen how the health care industry is changing and upselling procedures with scare tactics, but this unethical practice needs to end. Telling my wife that a superficial cleaning could lead to bacterial endocarditis is proposterous. On the good side of the visit, she liked the staff and dentist. I have a future appointment scheduled, but obviously will be going elsewhere. Steven Roth MD
