Tiffany Samples has served as Dr. Ks dental assistant since August 1998. She earned her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Greenville Technical College in May 1998. Tiffany is certified in chair side assisting, dental radiography, CPR, nitrous oxide monitoring, and operating room procedures.
Cathy Nguyen joined our practice in August 2016 as Dr. Koutsioukis Dental Hygienist. She graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2012 with her Bachelors Degree in Business, and then proceeded with her Associates in Science from Greenville Technical College in 2016. Cathy is certified in CPR, Nitrous Oxide monitoring, administration of local anesthesia, and Dental Radiography. Cathy has a positive and outgoing personality and likes to build relationships with her patients. She loves dogs, especially her 11 year old Chihuahua, relaxing in her spare time, and spending time with her close friends and family.
Jean Gorman has been Office Administrator since September 2014. She has over 15 years of experience in the dental field covering everything from insurance, billing, treatment planning and marketing. In her free time Jean enjoys spending time with her daughters and grandchildren as well as doing volunteer work and enjoying many activities and events the upstate has to offer.
For many, it is just annoying, and not a serious problem. But for some it can lead to other serious conditions. Saliva keeps the tissues in our mouths well lubricated, keeps our teeth clean, and helps digest food. Inadequate saliva can be uncomfortable, lead to problems eating and speaking, and contribute to tooth decay.
While aging itself is responsible for some of it, most cases are due to the side effects of medications. There are literally hundreds of medications that list it as a side effect. We can help determine the particular causes of your dry mouth, and help rule out rarer but more serious conditions.
If a medication is the cause, your physician may be able to prescribe an alternate medication. Many common sense approaches will also help, including taking frequent sips of water and stimulating saliva with sugar free gum or candy. Reducing your intake of caffeine, carbonated beverages and alcohol may also help.
Consult Dr. Koutsioukis to rule out some serious conditions that reduce the flow of saliva. Once he has ruled out other causes, he will recommend some simple remedies. There are also some oral rinses and artificial saliva products available. He will recommend that you be especially vigilant about oral hygiene, since inadequate saliva can increase your chance of tooth decay.

I never regret going to Dr. K's office. Everyone in the office is very professional and kind. Dr. K is an excellent dentist and always explains what he is doing. He and his assistant work seamlessly together in a quiet and confident way. No matter the time of year or day of the week, the office is very clean and pleasant. My husband and I trust Dr. K and his team completely!

Our son is recently home on furlough and he and his wife needed a check up at a dentist. For us, there is only one dentist and dental office to call and that is Dr. Koutsioukis and his team. Everyone there has been warm and accepting. The clean and update environment plus the skill and professionalism are a plus for what could be a stressful moment in one's life. But most importantly we have always been treated as important individuals with individual needs. There is no other choice to make!

My thanks to Dr. "K" for his expert skill and unfailing sense of concern for the comfort and well being of his patients. Over a six month period he had to perform two procedures uncomfortably close to the roots of two molars. The problems were solved effectively and painlessly. My thanks, as well, to his superior and friendly technicians and office staff. Dr. "K" has my highest regard and recommendation.
