I love to help people get healthy, because a healthy mouth is vitally important to your overall health. I truly strive to provide the highest quality dentistry possible in a caring and professional manner. For the past 25 years, my patients have always come first. Customer service is the cornerstone of my practice. I promise to discuss all viable options for treatment, and my recommendations will be based on what I would do for myself or for my family.

I made sure that the education I received would instill confidence in my patients. I attended Michigan State University for my undergraduate degree before continuing on to the University of Michigan for dental school. I completed my General Practice Residency with the United States Air Force. During my service in the Air Force, I was stationed at Chanute AFB in Illinois and Castle AFB in California.

The field of dentistry is constantly changing, and new treatment options means better care for my patients. I participate in continuing education through courses and seminars annually. I am a past-president of the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society and have been a delegate to the Michigan Dental Association.

I am originally from Midland, MI, and now live in Kalamazoo with my wife of 30 years, Theresa. We have a full house of dogs ranging in age from puppies to 15 years old. When Im not in the office I enjoy weight lifting, playing golf, and exhibiting our dogs in dog shows. My wife and I judge conformation dog shows a few weekends a year. I am also a huge University of Michigan football fan and Detroit Tiger fan.

Hello, Im Dr. Tyler Tran. I grew up in Plainwell, Michigan where I played soccer, basketball and golf. Following high school, I attended Siena Heights University where I played collegiate soccer. After one year at Siena Heights University, I transferred to Western Michigan University where I majored in Biomedical Sciences, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2015. From there, I moved to Chicago and attended dental school at Midwestern University, earning my DMD with honors in 2020.

While Chicago was an amazing experience, I moved back to Kalamazoo following dental school to be closer to my incredible wife, who is a labor and delivery nurse at Borgess hospital. We both enjoy giving back to our community and wholeheartedly look forward to starting a family of our own in Kalamazoo. Following my belief in giving back to the community, I have participated in groups such as Feed My Starving Children, volunteered in wheel chair basketball tournaments and even have given oral health presentations to elementary children.

I am currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the Michigan Dental Association. Committed to providing the best care possible for my patients, I have completed numerous postdoctoral continuing education credits in prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, Invisalign and more. I promise to always continue to educate myself and use top of the line technology so that I can provide each and every one of you with the care you deserve.

My name is Andrew, and I have been working in dentistry for just under four years. I am originally from South Bend, IN but moved into the small town of Decatur when I married my wife Erika in 2020. I got my start in the dental field working for a large dental company in Indiana. In this line of work, I have come to enjoy finding creative solutions to help patients get the care they need and get back to healthy, and genuinely find a way to help people. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our dog Finley, and soon to be our first child who is due in May 2022. I also enjoy spending my free time cooking, golfing, and camping with my family.

Julie was born and raised in Portage, MI. She currently lives in Vicksburg with her husband, and their 2 daughters, and one black lab. Julie graduated from Kalamazoo Valley Community College Dental Hygiene Program in 2007. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and traveling.

I have been a dental assistant for Spurr Family Dentistry since the spring of 2019 and started working as an assistant in 2009 with experience in oral surgery & general dentistry. I live in Kalamazoo with my boyfriend and his 2 rambunctious kids who are 4 and 5 years old and we just welcomed our baby girl into the world in April. We fill our free time by traveling and spending as much time in the great outdoors with fishing, camping, kayaking or just hanging out by the pool with the kids.

I graduated in 2014 from Kalamazoo Valley Community College with my degree in Dental Hygiene. I am also licensed to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. I focus on my patients by educating them on their individual needs. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach, bonfires, golfing and vacationing.

I have been living in Michigan most of my life, you can catch me at the beach when its hot and rooting for U of M when its cold. Im a mother of an amazing young man, watching him grow is the highlight of my life! I love going on random adventures and creating life long memories with him. One of my favorite pastimes is singing and dancing, if youre at the office and hear someone singing along to the radio its most likely me. I furthered my career by becoming a CDA, then an RDA and enjoy being in the dental field and taking care of people.

My name is Kelley and I have been a Dental Hygienist for over 22 years. I graduated from Kalamazoo Community College. I live in Plainwell with my husband and we have three children. Two of them are in college and live at home and my oldest daughter is married. I enjoy boating, traveling, and spending time with family. I am happy to be assisting and supporting the hygiene team in helping patients achieve great oral health.

I am originally from Indiana but am currently residing in Michigan. I am currently attending PGU for IT Programming and Software Development. When not working, I enjoy spending my time with my boyfriend and our two fur babies Beans and Joey, working on a decent golf swing and enjoying the outdoors. I hope to provide a welcoming experience for everyone who visits Spurr Family Dentistry and enjoy working with everyone on this team.

I was raised in the small town of Watervliet, Michigan. I then moved to Kalamazoo to earn my Associates Degree from KVCC in Applied Sciences in Dental Hygiene. I enjoy Dental Hygiene because it allows me to have the opportunity to equip patients with knowledge and tools to improve their oral health and genuinely enjoy their best lives. I plan to continue my education and become a professor in a dental hygiene program. I have a huge puppy, Macee, who is a 5 year old Black lab mix. In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family, walking my dog, and spending as much time as possible on the lake. I'm looking forward to growing with this amazing team at Spurr Family Dentistry.

I was formerly a dog groomer, and l love being around animals. I enjoy volunteering my services at shelters since joining the dental world. I was a dental receptionist for two years in Ann Arbor, and love learning about the world of dentistry- its so intriguing! I enjoy reading and writing, and am planning on becoming a dog parent in the near future. Ive had a Russian tortoise named Suzuki since I was ten, whom I love despite his thirst for blood. I recently moved back to Kalamazoo after two years on the east side of the state, and Im so happy to be back. l really missed Kalamazoo, and am super excited to join Spurr Family Dentistry!

To start let me say after 16 years as a dental assistant, there is not much I havent seen. I have worked in general dentistry for the majority of my career with 3-year section in denture focused office. When not at work I love being with my wife and four children aging up from 8 to my oldest at 15. My wife is at western pursuing music therapy of which I am very proud. I look forward to helping the doctors return/keep your smile healthy.

Went in for an initial visit, everyone was super nice and kind, very informative around certain aspects although when I challenged information I didn't get the best answers. I decided to get a second opinion from a different dentist as the amount of work they were suggesting to be done on my mouth was ridiculous. Be careful and don't be afraid to get a second opinion and if it feels off, it probably is.

I have been very pleased with each visit to this office. They have been extremely easy to schedule an appointment each time. Which is not always true in most places. The doctor is very good at explaining the procedure and I have been more than satisfied with his final product. They very easy going and friendly. I am so pleased that we made the move to this office for both me and my wife. I strongly recommend them value and service as well.

Spurr insisted I had gum disease. Wanted to do scaling treatment for thousands. Went to Periodontist. Periodontist said I did not have gum disease, considered it malpractice. Spurr would not return any calls when questioned about the diagnosis. I switched dentists immediately.

Spurr Family Dentistry is fantastic and I recommend them to all my friends. They take extremely detailed images and x rays to make your oral health and overall health is as good as it can be. Dr. Tran is very friendly and professional. Looking forward to my next cleaning and exam!

I had a few decent years with this practice. The hygienists were sometimes a bit awkward with their dialogue but always very nice. However, and I just read someone else's review of the same experience I just had, I came back in after two years of hiding from covid and they told me I had early stage gum disease. They INSISTED on scaling and root planing which was a three hour procedure that would cost me about 1,500 dollars. I scoured the area looking for a periodontist to get a second opinion. The periodontist was IRATE when they saw my gums and heard what Spurr dentistry was insisting on doing to me. Although I have some gum line recession it was glaringly unnecessary to start with scaling and root planing. They were also very upset when they found out I had been wearing bite guards made at Spurr dentistry for years which where causing me to have an open bite, and Spurr never talked with me about referring to an orthodontist. Moral of the story is this practice needs to learn the limitations of their expertise and start referring out to specialists before they launch ahead with expensive or risky procedures on their patients. This is either ignorance/hubris or straight up malpractice if they don't learn some limits. Be smart if you go here and consult outside experts if they try to throw any expensive procedures at you!

Wonderful experience! The entire office staff was so very helpful and accommodating. From communication about the appointment to the actual dental exam, I couldn't have asked for a more professional or a kinder group. Dr Tran was very thorough and took extra time to answer all my questions. He even called to check on me the next day!

The clinic itself is very welcoming in decor and staff. They appear to have all the bells and whistles of advanced medicine. However, their scheduling is difficult, they really enjoy performing garbage work, and misdiagnosing for cash. I was diagnosed with periodontal disease, and was told I needed root planing and ultrasonic subgingival scaling, which I did one round of, and it was painful. I switched dentists for ease of scheduling and insurance, and they told me they could tell by the rads before I showed up that I did NOT have this disease process. Additionally, they ripped a cavity out TWICE while flossing immediately after they placed it. Two of their cavities lasted less than one year due to shoddy work. I requested communication from them weeks ago on how exactly they managed to misdiagnose me so severely, and how they managed to do such a terrible job at something as simple as a filling, and no one followed up. Thank god I didn't have any actual, severe issues to deal with, because I can guarantee Spurr would not handle it appropriately. If you need local dental care, go to Oshtemo Family Dentistry.

Had 2 great experiences with Dr Tran as well as the other polite staff. Very knowledgeable and informative. Cutting edge technology. Very professional, thorough and also went above and beyond. Had to get numb for a filling. Didn't even feel the needle. Very happy with my experiences and would definitely recommend.
