From the beginning, the practice that is now Spruce Dental was known throughout Colorado Springs for dental excellence. Dr. Enea has provided countless patients with healthy, beautiful smiles over the past 15 years and carefully selected Dr. Valenta and Dr. Driskill to continue providing patient-centered dental care that meets his high standards. Dr. Valenta and Dr. Driskill are also tasked to innovate and utilize modern techniques and technologies to give Dr. Enea's patients the best dental care.
Dr. David Valenta grew up in farm country in rural Western Maryland as one of seven kids. As a teenager, he frequently shadowed his father, a physician. After seeing his dad find so much happiness in helping patients, Dr. Valenta decided that he wanted to dedicate his life to helping others as well, and set out on his dental journey. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Biotechnology from Frostburg State University before heading to the University of Maryland, Baltimore for his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. At 24, Dr. Valenta graduated from dental school as the youngest person in his class and then completed a General Practice Residency at York Hospital in Pennsylvania, where he met Dr. Driskill while she was completing an externship. When hes not at the office, he enjoys cooking and playing board games, or getting out and traveling, hiking, backpacking, and skiing.
Dr. Madelaine Driskill grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC, where she had the same dentist from her first tooth until she went to dental school. Her dentist became a great mentor and friend to her family (she even went to Dr. Driskill and Dr. Valenta's wedding!). Then, when she was 19, Dr. Driskill cracked a tooth and needed a root canal and crown. The endodontist let her watch the root canal on a computer monitor and it was at that moment she realized dentistry might be a good combination of many of her interests. She decided she wanted to be the dentist to her patients that her childhood dentist was to her.Dr. Driskill earned her Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Science from The Ohio State University and her Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, graduating with honors in clinical dentistry. She then completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Fort Carson before heading to Korea for a year with the Army. When she returned to Fort Carson, she led the Infection Prevention and Control team for four years, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. When shes not improving her patients lives, you can find her baking, cooking, playing board games, making pottery, doing house projects, or breaking out her skis and hitting the slopes.
