Dr. Paul Erben grew up in Northern Florida. He graduated from Florida State University with B.S. in Biology. While at FSU he was a varsity swimmer for 4 years. After college he pursued a dental career at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine and received his D.M.D.
While in dental school he was selected for an Air Force scholarship. Upon graduation from dental school Dr. Erben was commissioned as a Captain in the USAF and attended a 1 year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha NE.
After his Air Force commitment ended, Dr. Erben attended the University of Washington and completed his Endodontic Residency. After much hard work and dedication, Dr. Erben completed his board certification and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontics, College of Diplomates, and the California Dental Association.
Out of the office Dr. Erben enjoys surfing, scuba diving, hiking, camping, and attending yoga classes in the local area with his wife, Amanda. They love to explore the world and experience new cultures and cuisines! Dr. Erben and his family feel very fortunate to call the Central Coast their new home!
Janet is the business manager and oversees the day to day functions of the office. She has been a part of the dental team for over 16 years working in the front office as well as a registered dental assistant. Janet takes pride in creating great endodontic experiences from the very first call to when a patient leaves happy and pain-free. Born and raised on the central coast, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, trying new foods and overcoming her addiction to Pinterest.
Mary is a Registered Dental Assistant who started her career in dentistry in 2009. Before that she was a hairdresser and worked in retail as a manager. She grew up in Santa Barbara, CA and eventually relocated to Lompoc, CA in 2002. She went to the Allan Hancock Dental Assisting Program. Upon graduation she worked in Orthodontics and then worked in Pediatrics Hospital Dentistry. She has worked in Endodontics for the last 7 years. Mary offers support to her patients to help ensure they have a good experience while in our care. She additionally pays attention to detail to ensure smooth office operations. While not in the office she enjoys spending time with her spouse Whitney and their kids. They also volunteer their time at an animal rescue and watching their youngest daughter play softball.
Alyssa was born and raised on the central coast, and graduated from the Allan Hancock Dental Assisting Program and received her registered dental assistant license. After more than 20 years in the dental field she decided to work in endodontics to increase her knowledge and skills. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, tending to her houseplants and traveling. She prides herself in taking the best care of every patient that enters the office.
Liliana began her dental assistant career in 2018. She began her dental career as a dental receptionist, as just a job to help her get through college but she ended up loving the field! A couple weeks later she was moved to back office for training. Within the years Liliana worked in an office where they allowed her to work in multiple specialties, out of 5 specialties endodontics was the most interesting for her, she found the process fascinating. Liliana wants to keep growing in the dental field, she hopes to one day be a dentist. When Liliana isnt assisting she likes to go to the gym, spend time with family and pets, cook and bake.
Amanda is Paul Erbens wife and assists Spindrift Endo with maintaining and improving relationships with referrers and patients through technology enhancements, marketing activities, and social media. Out of the office she is an Occupational Therapist and yoga instructor. She is always open to feedback or any suggestions to continuously improve Spindrift Endo.
Endodontists are dentists who specialized in maintaining natural teeth through procedures called endodontic therapy, or root canal therapy, that involve the soft inner tissue of the teeth. In addition to 4 years of dental school, endodontists go through two or more years of advanced residency training, studying root canal techniques and procedures in greater depth offering you the best possible care in endodontic treatments.
Endodontics is a branch of dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association involving treatment of the pulp (root canal) and surrounding tissues of the tooth. When you look at your tooth in the mirror, what you see is the crown. The rest of the tooth, the portion hidden beneath the gum line, is called the root. Though the outer portion of the root is a hard tissue called dentin, the inside channel or root canal contains a pulp of soft tissue, blood vessels and nerves.
Bacteria that are introduced into the pulp as a result of tooth decay, fracture, or trauma can severely damage the pulp. When this happens, an endodontic specialist removes the diseased pulp to save the tooth and prevent further infection and inflammation. After successful endodontic treatment, the tooth continues to function normally.

Dr. Erben and his staff are fabulous! From the moment you contact them on the phone for an appointment you are treated with a friendly and caring staff. They accommodated my busy schedule and was able to get me right in. Dr. Erben and Lilly are individuals that care about you! My friends and family were amazed that I had a root canal that afternoon and was feeling great at dinner. I would go back in a NY minute to see him again! Thanks Dr. Erben and staff!

Dr. Erben and his staff take great effort to make you feel welcome, comfortable and informed. The front office personnel are friendly and extremely competent. They proactively engage with your insurance provider to minimize or eliminate any surprises, and facilitated reimbursement from my insurance provider on my behalf. Dr. Erben's medical assistant was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and made sure I was comfortable during my root canal, she provided me a blanket to use during the procedure and a hot towel after! Dr. Erben made sure I was pain free during the procedure and thoughtfully addressed my questions and any findings after the procedure. I very much appreciated his call to check on me the day after my procedure. Happy to report no pain after my root canal procedure. Highly recommend Dr. Erben and staff, they are wonderful. Thank you all for such a positive experience.

the staff were very pleasant, kind and efficient. Dr. Erben is one of the best Endodontic doctors that I've had. I had a root canal done . He was very gentle and made sure that I was comfortable . I appreciated his phone call asking me how I was doing and if I needed anything for pain. But everything went so well , I didn't need anything. I would highly recommend Dr. Erben for your dental issues.

I had to have a root canal from over decade ago re-treated and my dentist referred me here. Spindrift answered the phone right away and the receptionist was so friendly over the phone, which can be hard to come by nowadays. They were not in network with my insurance however they were still able to bill my insurance and give me a coverage estimate, which turned out to be accurate. I have some dental anxiety and can definitely say that the staff will treat you very gently on default, super kindly and welcoming. A 3D sort of scan is done which will show you exactly where the tooth has gone wrong, rather than being convinced by a light spot on an x-ray. They educate you on what the procedure entails, and offer conscious sedation. This means you will technically be conscious during the procedure, but won't remember it. I've never used the medications they gave me before but had no bad side effects. I would definitely reccomend anyone to choose this office for endodontic procedures, the quality of care is beyond great.

Dr. Erben's office was one of the most professional medical offices I have ever visited. From the initial phone call, it was apparent Dr. Erben and his staff cared about the patients. As a naturally nervous dental patient, I began to calm down almost immediately after arriving for my first visit. Even more shocking to me was that I did not lose a minute of sleep worrying about my scheduled root canal, and that was a first. I really do want to thank the entire staff for making sure I was comfortable, for acknowledging my fear of dental procedures; for clearly advising me on insurance billing and cost; and for providing a pain-free procedure. I can't believe I am even saying this, but I felt like I was at a spa dentist. :) While I hope I never have to go back, I am grateful I have Spindrift Endodontics should I need to.

Just WOW! Nobody wants a root canal but this was the best root canal ever! Beginning with the front desk gals, the customer service here is hands down the finest. The staff is so kind and caring. The entire team makes it known that they care about you. I had ZERO PAIN during and after my root canal. Never had to take any pain reliever. They offered me a warm wet towel to clean up my face and a warm blanket during the procedure. And I can't forget the headphones I was offered with music of my choice to keep me relaxed! I just wish Dr. Erben was my regular dentist. I highly reccomend Dr. Erben and his entire staff. Try them. You'll be happy you did.

From the very first phone call, I was treated with kindness and respect. My questions, concerns, and time were all respected and responded to with care. I didn't believe that it would transfer once I appeared in person - it must just be the receptionist. I was wrong! I was greeted warmly, by name, and didn't even have time to sit down - everything was ready for me. Everyone with whom I met was kind, caring, gracious, and concerned with my comfort level - physical and emotional!! I don't wish intense dental procedures on anyone, but if/when it comes time for one, I hope you have a chance to work with everyone here!

Everyone I dealt with in the front office(Lynn and Janet) were polite, professional, efficient and friendly. Dr. Erben clearly explained the root canal procedure and set my expectations for the process and how I should feel afterwards. He and Alyssa made sure I was comfortable during the procedure and continuously checked in with me. It was obvious to me they genuinely cared about my comfort and health. I felt no pain during the root canal procedure. It was a successful outcome and as Dr. Erben indicated, I experienced some minor discomfort when the numbness wore off. A couple of ibuprofens and I was good. I was chewing on that tooth the very next day! Surprisingly, Dr. Erben personally called me the day after to make sure all was ok. If I ever need another root canal, or related dental work, I will be in Dr. Erben's chair!

Dr. Paul Erben and his entire staff are the best in patient care. Had a root canal today and everything was explained in advance. They are very caring and were constantly checking to see how I was doing during the procedure. Even brought me a blanket and the headphones were a plus. The assistants are very kind and know how to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Dr. Erben is a certified endodontist and came highly recommended by my dentist. If you have to have a root canal you will be in good hands at Spindrift Endodontics.

It's a rarity that you encounter a doctors office that is as friendly, helpful and caring as Dr. Paul Erben's. Let's face it, no one wants to have a root canal, but I would look forward to working again with this team! To a person, they were friendly, informative, patient and caring. My procedure was complicated, but from having a blanket when I was chilly, to the warm towel to wipe my face after the procedure, the attention is detail was flawless. Dr. Erben even called the next day to make sure I was doing ok. Great team almost made it pleasant! Highly recommended.

I highly recommend Spindrift Endodontics. I needed a root canal. They were able to get me in quickly. The entire staff was professional and kind. The office staff is wonderfully efficient. Alyssa, the dental assistant was caring and has a calming presence. Everyone was ready and willing to answer my questions. Dr. Erben was professional, caring and kind. He answered all my questions and explained the whole procedure. I am very satisfied with his expert care.

I have never been comfortable with my Dentist appointments and going in for a root canal was a little nervous on my end. Dr Paul Erbin and all of his friendly staff made me feel # 1 that day. They all made sure I was comfortable even down to the nice soft blanket. I never felt any pain during procedure. We all have our blood drawn and this was just that and a little pinch. Keep in mind I have a low tolerance for shots and Dr Erbin was a gettleman. Kind bedside manners and called me the next day. Another side note was that even though my dentist said I needed an Oral surgeon, Dr Erbin and his staff kindly verified my dentist prognosis I felt Lynn Larson and her awesome staff went the extra mile to save my tooth.

Fantastic Office! The receptionist Janette and Lynn are Amazing from the first point of contact, setting up the appointment on the phone. So accommodating with your schedule. I needed a root canal replacement and needed it done before the month was over. They where out of network with my insurance, but if you have out of network benefits , They are worth their weight in Gold. Dr. Erben is very nice and patience in explaining everything, why I needed the procedure. Highly recommend this office to everyone.

I had such an amazing experience at Dr. Urbens office. Both him and his staff were professional and made me feel at ease during my root canal process. They made me feel comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. I felt my nerves ease as soon as they brought me a blanket. Dr. Urben and his team have great bedside manners. Highest recommendations for Dr. Erben and his wonderful staff!!! Both of my procedures in his office went exceptionally well and virtually no discomfort whatsoever. He accomplished more than I would have expected from any Endodontist. Lynn, Lilly, Janet and all staff members are personable and very professional. Not enough room here for all their praise!
