Dr. Reth and his family are glad to be a part of Spearfish and the Northern-Hills community. After graduating from California State University with a degree in Business Administration, he then attended Loma Linda University School of Dentistry where he graduated with Honors in Advanced Dental Education.
Dr. Reth is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the South Dakota Dental Association. He is a past-president of the Black Hills District Dental Society and also has served as a Trustee for the South Dakota Dental Association. He continues to advocate for organized dentistry as an integral tool in maintaining high standards within the profession.
I originally came to the field of dentistry because I enjoyed interacting with people and working with my hands. I soon found that not only did I enjoy the creativity but also the challenge of following a whole new paradigm that is making its way to the forefront of dentistry in regards to education, prevention of disease, and oral effects on general health. I realized by the curiosity of my patients that this needs to be our focus as general practitioners. There are real and practical ways to keep our mouths healthy, and it is backed up by sound scientific research. This along with research on how the health of our mouths affects the rest of our body makes it imperative that we focus on disease control and prevention instead of filling hole by hole. New methods are being refined used to achieve this goal, and I think you will find that we are committed to doing everything we can to keep you from drill-and-fill dentistry.

Was very nervous about going after avoiding it for a very long time. The entire staff made me feel very welcome and at ease. I am glad I went!

The ladies in the front were extremely helpful and sweet. The hygienist was not so sweet. He aggressively scraped my teeth and gums so vigorously that there was blood all over his gloves. I couldn't talk after the simple teeth cleaning or eat. Not sure if this is the normal hygienist because the other reviews looked good but this guy was awful.

I just had a crown put on one of my teeth. I am VERY pleased with how it turned out. Dr Reth and the rest of the staff do an exceptional job. Also great customer service and very professional. Would recommend to anyone.

Dr. Reth had to extract two teeth this morning from my very anxious 11-year-old daughter. He put her at ease, didn't rush or pressure her and she walked out the door smiling (albeit with a few more gaps in her mouth). Their office is very accommodating, friendly and professional. Highly recommend and wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Thank you Spearfish Family Dentistry, for being dental rockstars.

Had a toothache that sent me into extreme pain... The kind ladies in front were very understanding of my pain and tolerance and got me in quickly.... The dr. Did a great job at quickly pulling a tooth that was really bothering me badly! Little to no pain experienced, very clean and comfortable office, even able to watch tv during dental procedure. Friendly staff and knowledgeable staff!!! Highly recommend these guys

, yes THEY DON'T HURT!!! I do not like needles and he has a way that makes it so they do not hurt.Him and his staff have been amazing from day one!!! I trust him and have great faith in his work. Thank you Dr. Reth for keeping my teeth healthy.
