Dr. Elizabeth Spannhake has been in private practice for over 25 years. She graduated with multiple honors from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry and completed a two-year orthodontic graduate program at the University Of Maryland School Of Dental Surgery. Dr. Spannhake holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, as well as a Master of Public Health Degree from Tulane University. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and is been a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a recognition by her peers of clinical and didactic excellence in orthodontics.
Dr. Spannhake is actively involved in the orthodontic profession outside of her own practice. She has served as President of the State and Mid-Atlantic Regional Orthodontic Societies. Dr. Spannhake is also a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia and teaches in their graduate program on a biweekly basis throughout the year.
Dr. Spannhake has also been a consulting member of the Kernan Hospital Cleft Palate Advisory Team which provides information and guidance to patients and their families seeking treatment for their cleft palates and craniofacial anomalies.
The Orthodontic Technicians are x-ray certified and have completed a state-required course in expanded orthodontic techniques, as well as annual continuing education courses in CPR, infection control and orthodontics. These technicians work directly with the doctors. Our goal is to provide the finest orthodontic treatment available in a professional environment where the patients needs are our top priority.

As the Practice Administrator, Amy gets to know our patients and their families very well. She loves being able to talk with our patients helping them understand all of the financial aspects of their orthodontic treatment. Amy also handles our patients insurance and billing needs. Its a good feeling to know that she is able to help so many people, and to make them feel comfortable being in our practice. Amy has been in the field of orthodontics for over 31 years.
Melissa is an experienced dental assistant who has worked in the field of orthodontics since 2000. She has attended many advanced clinical courses over the years and has gained experience in many different appliances and techniques. Melissa enjoys watching the progress her patients make and the new smiles they receive. She is devoted to her family, loves going to the beach and is the proud mother of a little boy.
My name is Escatrina. I was born in Fort Worth, TX and currently reside in Baltimore. I have two wonderful children, a son, and a daughter. I've been an orthodontic assistant for more than a decade. I love every aspect of orthodontics, my favorite part is helping my patients achieve their ideal smile and watching their confidence grow. Orthodontics is my life!
Danielle started working for Spannhake Orthodontics in 2020. Danielle is responsible for answering phones, welcoming patients, insurance verifications, and scheduling. She is an experience dental assistant who has worked in the dental field since 2003, and in Orthodontics since 2016.
I have been in dentistry for several years. I enjoy learning about orthodontics and the new technology it embraces, which is amazing. I look forward to seeing my patients achieve their new, beautiful smiles!! I'm originally from Baltimore City and now reside in Owings Mills. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, shopping, and watching movies.

I love how this office celebrates random "holiday" Today was Luau day and everyone was dressed up, wearing tropical shirts, leis, and grass skirts, and they handed out leis to everyone. To some that may not seem like a big deal, but for me, it showed how much they appreciate their patients. Both my kids were treated here and now I am in Invisalign treatment. Overall I am very happy with the practice. I mean, there are no wait times, everything is explained to me, and the front desk is very friendly. Dr. Spannhake is informative, and the assistants are thorough. I love that I hear the staff laughing and having fun. It makes being there more relaxing.

I was referred to Dr. Spannhake's office for orthodontia to correct bite issues, tooth mobility problems and gum recession. I have been a patient of this practice for about a year for invisalign treatment and can highly recommend it! Dr. Spannhake and her staff are very skilled and knowledgeable and provided top notch care. I was always taken for my appointment on time, no long waits, and everyone was friendly and accommodating. Dr. Spannhake checked on my progress every single visit, even if it was a simple appointment to pick up the next set of invisalign trays. The office is clean and well organized. The equipment is state of the art; the office uses computers to get precise tooth/gum measurements, rather than molds and trays. Dr. Spannhake and her amazing staff made the process easy and painless and I am very pleased with the results! Highly recommend!!!

I have been in treatment with Dr. Spannhake for a year now. The assistants are the best and make the experience GREAT!!!! It's never a chore to come to my appointments, I look forward to it. The front desk is very welcoming. Dr. Spannhake is very knowledgeable & nice. I have traveled to the Westminster office, and Melissa is phenomenal.

I am currently in treatment at the office. The front staff is welcoming, the Dr. is great she is very informative and professional. The assistants in the back are amazing they are very down to earth and make the whole experience well worth the choice of choosing this office. Highly recommended office.

Wow, the reviews on here are wicked, and funny. 1st.. you got someone on here complaining because their kid lost their retainer and expects get a new one for free LOL. Wow.. That's hysterical. Then another one complaining because they didn't bring a letter like they were supposed to. Let me tell you about my experience. My kid has been here for a while, and before the pandemic, I always attended the appointments with my kid. That staff is awesome. They are kind, and fun. I feel bad for them that they got to deal with people like the ones who made these reviews. The front desk staff is very kind. They always go out of their way to help. The dental assistants make treatment fun. They are always laughing with the patients and parents. My kid really likes coming there. The doctor is pretty cool. She explains my kid treatment and keeps me informed. Even with the pandemic, they call to make my kids appointment and explain what happened at the visit. If I could give them 100 stars I would.

Every review has a context. I have nothing bad to say about the technical expertise of the dentist or the staff for performing the dental work for my nephew. So let me give you guys a quick summary. The dental work was done first time around and insurance took care most of cost including the retainer. However somehow the child lost the retainer so we asked these people to install a new one. They are charging us $2800 for the lost retainer and according to them they are giving us an $1100 discount. Ok so far there is nothing wrong here but let's pause and understand the context behind just mere revenue generating nameless children. The child just lost her only bread winner to cancer about 2 years ago. The mother has 4 kids with no income or other stream of funds. I would hate to give more details here on someone's misery. All we were asking this practitioner to show some compassion given the the difficult circumstances the mother has found herself in, on top of the pandemic that is making situation from bad to worse. We family members are doing all we can but it would have made life a little more bearable for the mother to not have to choose between food and paying the dentist.Alas, to some people this $2800 will break the budget of this dental practice. The practice has chosen not to yield any more and refuse to offer any help. That is there choice. We will certainly pay somehow and gather the funds but it has become certain that this practice is all about money. I hope and wish the best for them but always remember what goes around comes around.

From the initial consultation for my son's braces (September 2016) to his final check on his retainer (5/21/20) my son has always received exceptional professional services from the Towson office and for that I am forever grateful. Thank you for 3 1/2 years of service

Dr. Spannhake I viewed your great services from your patients but however as a grandmother of a new patient was humiliating and bias not just for me but my granddaughter as well..No disrespect to your profession/business but there needs to be more training within your staff on how to treat new incoming patients as well as paper work/your policies..Danielle and Amy from your Towson Office especially Danielle with child was totally disrespectful and unprofessional..What you need to do is have your receptionist inform all grandparents that they are to bring in a written letter from mom stating that it's good/okay to bring in grandchildren to appointments..

Everyone was very professional and kind! I appreciate the fact that the waiting room is closed due to COVID-19 concerns and everyone was consistently disinfecting and wore masks as they were able. I felt comfortable with everyone and would recommend them to anyonelooking for an orthodontist.
