Our doctors are board certified specialists in Periodontics and limit their practice to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Periodontal Disease [Gum Disease], Oral Medicine and Dental Implants. Their practice focuses on the conservative treatment of gum disease, but also incorporates regenerative [rebuilding] procedures to replace lost bone and tissue support. They also perform cosmetic periodontal procedures to help you achieve your optimal smile.
Our practice emphasizes the creation of individualized treatment plans tailored to fit the unique needs of our patients. The doctors and staff strive to maintain the highest ethical standards, blending innovative procedures and state of the art equipment in an environment that allows you to feel safe, secure and comfortable.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, its both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies recommendations.

Timely, courteous, professional and detailed. I'm sure that there are some additional adjectives that I could have used to describe this business. But, let's just say that they have been incredible. Other businesses could take some lessons from these people. I STRONGLY recommend them for anyone!!

I was previously a patient at Southwind but hadn't been in for my routine appointments during Covid. In that timeframe, my insurance changed and Southwind was no longer a preferred provider. Realizing that I needed to get back on track, I made an appointment with the only covered periodontist in my area and just really didn't have a good experience. I decided that I would pay the higher out of pocket cost to go back to Southwind and my first visit back this week totally reinforced that decision. As was the case with my previous visits, the front office was professional and organized. The hygienists are friendly but also gentle and patient with people (like me) who have some anxiety around dental procedures. Dr. Smith was engaging, took his time explaining his recommendations for treatment and a long term care plan and showed me exactly where my issues were visible on my x-rays. I knew they were very busy that day but I didn't feel at all rushed or like an inconvenience. Most importantly, my treatment plan is drastically different. The other perio I had seen rushed through my visit and recommended multiple surgical procedures that would have been really expensive and probably not all that fun even with laughing gas. In the long run, I'm actually saving money by going out of network and I'm being treated by a team that makes me feel confident, comfortable, and so much more relaxed about my appointments.

Just went for my initial visit. I was very impressed with the comfort of the exam itself and the thorough knowledge of Mr Smith. He answered my questions before I even asked him, ( I had a list, lol). Everything was clean and the staff was attentive, competent and friendly. I left feeling like a long time client instead of a first timer.

I have been a patient for over a decade. With my high sensitivity I'm always well taken care of. They take their time cleaning to make sure it's done well and with comfort. I've had several graphs and Dr. Wilson is always so caring!

I've been a hygienist for 37 yrs and have known Drs. Edwards and Wilson for the past 20 yrs. Their practice and staff are very pleasant and professional. I respect their work and knowledge. I work in a general practice that's too busy to put me on the books for a routine 6mo recare appt so I chose south wind! Dr Trobaugh is a recent periodontist that has joined the team. Really nice guy

I have been going to this periodontist office for at least 4 years. They are so professional, staff is wonderful, and their office is always clean and welcoming. I have had 2 gum graft surgeries with Dr. Wilson and she is completely fantastic. She gave me her personal cell phone and called to check on me afterward both times. She is gentle, explains things clearly, and is a pleasure to see each time. I see different hygienists and I have never had a bad experience. I can't say enough good things about this office!

The care I received today by Dr. Wilson and her staff was the greatest! They kept asking over and over whether I was okay during the 90 minute procedure. And the directions for care after they were done with me were easy to understand. I felt in very good hands and am sure my outcomes will be as positive as they were telling me they would be.
