Pediatric dentists are trained to teach children and families how to prevent cavities and promote a lifetime of oral health and wellness from infancy and beyond. Ourtraining prepares us to provide the extra special care that your child deserves in a caring and competent manner. Pediatric dentists receive two or more extra years of training beyond dental school that is focused only in care of infants through teens taking into concern their growth, development, psychological needs, and more. Not only do we see kids all day, but we understand kids, especially when in the dental environment.
We proudly promote the prevention of disease, which is one of the reasons why we love to see kids so young. Establishing an early relationship with the dentist promotes a health mouth and a positive dental experience. Dr. Kyla Hollenis a graduate from Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health. During her time in dental school, she focused her outreach activities towards working with at-risk youth residing in a boot camp in Queen Creek, Arizona.
After graduation, Dr. Hollen moved to rural Missouri where she obtained a Masters in Public Health degree that provided her with the resources to develop community programs geared towards improving the oral health of school children and preparing expectant teenage mothers to care for the oral health of their babies. Dr. Hollen completed her pediatric dentistry specialty training with Lutheran Medical Center which partnered with Tucson area training sites. She and her husband fell in love with the area and decided to call Tucson home for good. Dr. Hollen enjoys working with the community and welcomes invitations to participate in volunteer opportunities as well as professional speaking on pediatric dental topics.
Dr. Hollen is a board certified pediatric dentist. She is also certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Her areas of focus include: prevention, treatment, and assisting those with special needs. Dr. Hollenbelieves in using current technology to deliver excellent care and is passionate about the medical management model of dental caries whenever possible. She volunteers with the Arizona Dental Foundation to organize the Tucson Gives Kids A Smile event which provides free dental care to underserved children as well as internationally with Flying Samaritans. Outside of the office, youll find her running, hiking, skiing if there is snow around,and spending time with her rescue dogs, Missle and Taffy.

I felt uneasy on the first visit, it was the first time taking my daughter to a new dentist after our long time trusted dentistry had closed. COVID-19 times adding to our expectation however, even though the rules of every time filling out the COVID disclosure doc before each appointment is annoying it all make perfect sense. Once inside the doctor, receptionist and everyone there are courageous, informative, willing to accommodate, and also bilingual our experience was great and worth while. I look forward to bringing my daughter again for her next dental cleaning! Thank you!

My son had 2 extractions yesterday & was so grateful for his experience. He's 12 & has had extractions before with 6 teeth removed but he continues to need them as he's not losing his baby teeth naturally. He said yesterday was his first time not experiencing pain or a long process. He shared with me that they were quick but so effortless & he had no idea they were done with no pokes or yakes. I wasn't there, my husband took him. They always answer the phones. It's not a scheduling office but they answer in office & are pleasant every time. You can tell someone loves their job in their voice. My son told me he wants to go back for all future visits. I hope we can arrange that to happen so my kids are treated well & excited about the dentist.

I have been taking my children to Southwest Dentistry since 2018 and have always loved my experiences. Unfortunately however, they have increased in size and have several new staff members. They changed systems and I had to fill out extensive new patient forms and the front office staff just wasn't as friendly or knowledgeable as the previous staff members. Dr. Hollen and the dental team are still just as amazing but I wish the rest of the staff were of the same caliber.

Everyone is the office is wonderful! So very friendly and I loved that they took safety precautions and the office itself was pristine. My 5 year old son asked me when he could come back so Win win!

My daughter loves Dr. Hollen. Dr. Hollen and the staff are excellent; courteous, kind and efficient. It's out of my way, however the excellent care they give my daughter makes it worth the drive. She's been a patient for over a year. We were referred by our dentist at the time due to my daughter's need for extensive dental work. All went well. I love the check up report I get at the end of the visit. My daughter looks forward to her dental visits therefore we will continue going to Southwest Kids Dentistry.

My daughter had her first visit just recently. She is 4 and was a little nervous but as soon as we walked in and everyone was so kind the nerves melted away and she was excited to be there. The practice is just perfect for kids-everyone we had interactions with really knew how to connect with children. When we left my daughter said, "I love that dentist, let's go back soon!"

Efficient for sure. My son had a full set of xray and a cleaning. We were in and out in exactly 18 minutes. This was his 3rd visit there. Cost out of pocket was $438 for this appointment. I'm not sure if he was seen by a dentist or simply the hygienist as there was not any kind of follow up at the end he was simply walked out with a card scheduled with his next appointment
