Southport Dental Care is probably a bit different from any other dental office you have been in before now. When you enter our office as a new patient or someone that has spent a good amount of time with us, you are greeted with a warm friendly smile, offered coffee, juice or even bottled water. As a patient of Southport Dental Care you are considered a part of the family. For very anxious patients, we offer sedation through nitrous oxide or prescription medication. Dr. Michael Cook, along with the Hygiene Department have also taken additional training so they can offer pain free anesthetic (numbing) that is so precise we seldom numb more than the exact area we are working on.
A recent patient told us that the precision of the numbing was the most pleasant experience he had had in a dental office in decades. In our warm and inviting atmosphere, our patients dont seem to mind visiting the dentist anymore. It is our goal is to make every dental experience a pleasant one.

Dr Michael Cook has been on-the-go both professionally and personally for more than two decades, accomplishing one feat after another with no signs of stopping any time soon. His ambition, talent, and sense of personal excellence has allowed him to excel and prosper when others would have certainly fallen behind. Dr Cook is a testament to hard work, dedication, and a real love of community. From charity work to sports, Dr Michael Cook is a genuine role model to his children, his friends, neighbors, and the entire Treasure Coast.
In 1989 Dr Cook received his undergrad degree from the University of Florida. Afterwards, as a naval officer, Dr Cook served in both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. After leaving the Navy Dr Cook returned to the University of Florida where he earned his degree in Dentistry. That was in 2002, and if the past 12 years is any indication, Dr Cooks influence will continue to be felt for many more decades.
In 2002 Dr Cook joined the Southport Dental Care practice, then owned by Dr Fox. Four years later Dr Cook purchased the practice, brought on a third Doctor, and grew the practice into one of the finest in all of South Florida, providing a wide array of dental services to the Treasure Coast.
Dr. Harllee worked in south Florida until moving to Stuart in 1989. By 1992 Dr. Harllee purchased his own practice in downtown Stuart where he practiced dentistry for 18 years. He married his wife Cheryl in 1996 and together they enjoy golfing, paddleboarding, surfing, fishing and travel. As of March, 2014 we are pleased to announce that Dr. Harllee is joining our team, celebrating 30 years in Port St. Lucie, Southport Dental Care.
Bruce A. Kushner, D.M.D. graduated from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry in 1982. After earning his degree he moved to Homestead, Florida where he successfully owned a private practice for 25 years.
Dr. Kushner is a member of the Seattle Study Club, a local dental study club that enhances continue education. In his spare time Dr. Kushner enjoys boating, fishing, and diving. He is also a runner and participates in local road races. We are delighted that he joined our team in May, 2013.
