With more than 15 years as a practicing periodontist, Dr. Delaram Hanookai is exceptionally proficient in placing dental implants and grafting bone and gum tissue to replace teeth and restore smiles to people who may not have smiled comfortably in years. She understands this is not just a clinical procedure; it can change a person's life - for the better.
Dr. Hanookai received her certification in periodontal dentistry and implantology from USC in 1998. She also received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from USC in 1994 and her Master of Science Degree in Craniofacial Biology in 1998.
Her education didn't stop there however. She has continued to pursue advanced training at the Misch Implant Institute, one of the world's most advanced training centers in dental implantology. She has also been accepted as a Fellow of the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantologists), one of the world's most respected dental associations.
Dr. Abaian is called the 'Engineer of the Smile' and with good reason! He began his career with a degree in engineering from Cal State Los Angeles. His love of structure and perfection led him to pursue a degree in biology, followed by completing his DDS at USC. His unique background and interests have made him an outstanding cosmetic dentist.
Dr. Abaian puts considerable thought and planning into the design and treatment of a smile. He understands that a smile makeover is a deeply personal transition. Tooth color, length and width of the tooth, size and shape of the patient's face - all are taken into consideration when designing a smile.
Dr. Abaian continues to further his education by taking advanced courses at the prestigious Kois Center. Serving dentists from around the world, the Kois Center is a leading dental training program that offers a comprehensive curriculum involving aesthetic, occlusion and restorative dentistry.

I love this dentist so much. I drive 2hrs and 30mins just to come here and have been coming here for the past year and a half. Dr. Abaian is one of the most genuine caring person you will meet. He is always happy and you can tell he loves what he does. He is all about making you happy! That's what makes him happy. I found a dentist I enjoy to visit truly. The staff is no different, they also are always happy and make you feel at home. Thank you guys for making visiting the dentist a joyful experience.

Dr Abian and his staff were extremely professional and my journey was about 8 months long, but well worth the process. If you are considering veneers, let me say that you will now be disappointed. I am now smiling every chance I get.

I called to inquire about services. Very rude customer service over the phone. You will get someone with a condescending tone, who wouldn't allow me to talk, and who refused to give her name and hung up on me. I really have compassion for the owner of this business, and this review is for him/her to know who's working for them.

I have no idea where any of these glowing reviews came from. If there was a way to give Southland Dental negative stars, there would be no hesitation. My entire family works in healthcare, and I cannot believe that this is the standard they operate on. The entire experience was quite unprofessional. The appointment was a waste of 1.5 hours of my day. I forwarded all of my medical records two days prior to my appointment (with confirmation from Southland that they received it). I waited 25 minutes before being called to the back. Thirty-five minutes past my appointment time, as I was sitting in the exam chair, two employees claimed that they could not find my medical records, so I had to forward the file from my chair. Not to mention, a couple of staff members came in and out of the exam room, not knowing the reason for my visit (one asked if I was there for a cleaning). In the end, I had about 2 minutes of face time with the doctor after waiting an hour past my scheduled appointment. I hate to leave negative reviews, but there was not one part of this experience that would make me return OR refer anyone here.

I have never liked going to the dentist, there is so many things that make a person nervous. When I walked into Southland Dental Care the staff were very welcoming they make you feel like at home. When Dr. Hanookai came in to do my exam she took her time to go over my treatment and explained step by step what my treatment consisted of. I only needed a cleaning and a couple of fillings. Southland Dental Care is really a state of the art office, the technology that they use is one of a kind she used a camara that zoomed in and shows the cavities. The best part is that they offer finances and the prices are within your budget. I would would definitely recommend this office.

I really love this place, the staff is super kind and helpful, Dr. Abaian and Dr. Hanookai are the coolest dentist ever, the office is very clean, I highly recommend for who ever needs a dentist to come and visit southland dental care.

The entire team at Southland Dental was awesome! They are so warm and personable and Dr Abaian is so knowledgeable and makes me feel like I'm apart of the process every step of the way. My brother referred me to this office and I would definitely refer others who are looking for a beautiful smile.

Came in as a new patient. I sat in the chair and the assistant gave me a fluoride rinse to swish in my mouth, but there was a 6" long hair in the cup. I waited about 5min for her to come back and asked for a new cup. She dumped out the old one and put new flouride rinse in it but there was still a small piece of hair in there. I poured it out in the sink when she left. So far, it's been over an hour. I've taken x-rays. One of the receptionists recently came in to be the 2nd person to ask if I have insurance. I faxed my insurance cards to them when I made the appointment. I was going to offer to fax them again but she walked away about 15min ago and I haven't seen anyone since. Will update when and if treatment starts.
