Our history is tied to the beginnings of dentistry in Northwest Indiana. Dr. Maurice Avery Sr. began practicing dentistry in the region in 1907, before transferring the practice to his son, Dr. Maurice Avery Jr. in 1932. Dr. Avery Jr. practiced for nearly half a century before selling the practice to Dr. Dennis Deeb, who had proudly served the community until Dr. Lukasik acquired the practice in 2018.
Nearly half of our patients have been part of the practice for 20 years, or more, with some being original patients of Dr. Avery Jr. My philosophy is to continue with the same level of care and trust that has built the foundation of our practice for over 100 years.

Dr. Christopher Lukasik attended Indiana University Northwest where he studied chemistry. He was the only member of his dental school class to be accepted to dental school after three years without having received a degree.
Dr. Lukasik went on to attend the Indiana University School of Dentistry on a scholarship where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS). Because of Dr. Lukasiks dedication to excellence, he received numerous awards including:
Dr. Lukasik is a native of DeMotte, IN, and enjoys spending his free time with his wife, two kids, four dogs, and two cats. You may also find him on the golf course with friends, managing the prairie naturalization of his homes property, or tinkering in his workshop.
Jeanine is a native of Crown Point, IN and has been with Southlake Dental since 1999. She attended Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis where she received her Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene with distinction. Jeanines favorite part of her job is her patients, and she loves helping them smile!
When Dr. Lukasik was in dental school, he would shadow our office, and Jeanne has been with him since he started. She feels privileged to be a part of Dr. Lukasiks team because he is very skilled, knowledgeable, patient, meticulous, and caring.
Jeanne is proactive about motivating, educating and promoting oral health to her patients. She loves making patients healthier by removing the infectious plaque and calculus from their teeth. Jeanneenjoys seeing them every six months to catch up on their lives and watch their families grow through the years.
As the mother of four wonderful children and three amazing grandchildren, Jeanne feels very blessed. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, biking, going to the beach, and boating.
Michelle has worked in the dental field for over 20 years and joined Southlake Dental in 2011. She holds an Associates Degree in Applied Science and is certified as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant and in dental radiography.

This was my first time at Southlake Dental. My first impression was talking to Michelle getting my appointment set up and getting my xrays transferred here from my previous dentist. She was very kind and easy to talk to and extremely helpful. Once I arrived, I was quickly and efficiently put into the exam room by supporting staff. Everyone was very friendly. I couldn't be more impressed by Dr Lucasik, he was honest with his opinion and didn't try to just make a quick fix. He was very thorough in explaining why he made the recommendations that he did. I will definitely be returning here and recommending to friends and family!

So far my mom really likes him as her dentist which makes me happy. His staff is very friendly, the office atmosphere is slow not chaotic or fast paced. The dentist seems to genuinely care. He explains everything throughly. And when my mom was recently hospitalized they were caring about her. Thank you! We'll be seeing you soon!

My experience was perfect. I went in hoping to get the spaces in my teeth filled with composite bonding but the Dentist gave me his honest feedback and I wasn't disappointed at all that he suggesting I not get the bonding. He was so pleasant, honest, & straight to the point. My wait wasn't long at all, maybe 5 minutes .... the staff overall were very kind , the receptionist is the icing on the cake , she's been helpful since the day I called to schedule an appointment. Overall 10/10 definitely recommend!

My husband & I both go here, we would recommend! We also just took our 15 month old son for his first appointment and they were great making him feel comfortable and checking out his teeth without much of a fuss.

As a former patient of Dr. Deeb's since I was a a child, I've loved seeing all of the familiar and now new faces in the office. Dr Lukasic is very knowledgeable on all of the new technology and takes the time to explain everything thoroughly. Jeanine is and always has been THEE BEST hygienist around! No one compares! Savannah is an amazing assistant and is beyond sweet as is Michelle at the front desk. Coming in is always a great experience!
