Dr. Joseph Picone graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1984 with a BS in Biophysics. In 1988, he graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine . Dr. Picone excelled in dental school and was awarded the Lewis Fox Award, which is given to the student with the best all-around clinical and didactic performance. In 1998, he was awarded fellowship to the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Picone is committed to continuing his education in order to provide the best possible care to his patients. In 2002, he was awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and in 2009, he was awarded with the prestigious Academy of General Dentistry Mastership Award. Dr. Picone was also awarded the distinguished 68th Annual Daniel F. Lynch Award from the Dental Society of Greater Waterbury in April 2015.
For many years, Dr. Picone was a Clinical Instructor in the Division of Behavioral Sciences and Community Health at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and served as a mentor to the dental students.
Dr. Picone is the immediate past Chairman of the Continuing Education Council for the Connecticut State Dental Association(CSDA), a position he held for 14 years. He is also a member of its Annual Sessions Council.
Connecticut Mission of Mercy Committee and has been a co-leader of the restorative clinic. CTMOM is a volunteer program that provides free dental care to underserved members of the community that do not have access to care. In 2011, Dr. Picone participated in a five-day dental service trip with a team of 10 dental students and 3 licensed dentists and provided oral health care to indigent children and adults in Tobati, Paraguay.
Dr. Picone was born in Southington and has been practicing dentistry in the community for over 27 years. He resides in Cheshire with his wife, Carmelina. They have three children, Aniello, Joseph Jr., and Francesca. He enjoys traveling, hunting, and fishing in his spare time.
Dr. Gino Anthony Brino graduated from the University of Connecticut as an Honor Scholar in Biological Sciences and received his dental degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1998. He was president of his dental class of 1998. He attended a General Practice Residency at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT where he received the Most Outstanding Resident Award.
Dr. Brino is a life long resident of Southington, CT. His wife's name is Sandra and they have two daughters Valerie and Cecilia. He enjoys the outdoors, camping, biking, family, and also spends a lot of his free time mentoring the Southington High School Robotics Team.
Dr. Aniello (Nello) Picone is a life long resident of Southington, CT. Following his graduation from Southington High School, he went on to attend the University of Connecticut where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. He was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He then attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2012. Following graduation, he completed a year of advanced dental training at the Hartford Hospital General Practice Residency.
While in dental school, Dr. Picone was the recipient of the Connecticut Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Student Award, the Academy of General Dentistry's Senior Student Dental Award, and the Olmstead Prize in Geriatrics. Upon completion of his dental residency, he was the recipient of the Dr. Dick D'Alessandro Award.

Absolutely the most accommodating staff in the state. They're cheerful, helpful and, dedicated to serving the needs of their patients...even the ones who haven't been to an appointment in years. Dr. Gino Brino is excellent; he goes above and beyond with his patience as well as his compassion. It's obvious that he loves his work and always takes the time to answer questions, no matter how trivial they might be. His achievements are sometimes even breathtaking; he's widely respected both in the community as well as by his peers. He's highly trained and could actually be the poster boy for excellence. In case you haven't noticed, I highly recommend Southington Family Dentristry.

I had a consultation with Dr Brino today. It was the most thorough exam I've ever had with a dentist. The technology that they use is top notch and the time he took to go over all my needed dental work and to help me prioritize was so appreciated . Not one time did I feel rushed or anxious. The staff from the first phone call to set an appointment to speaking with someone about benefits before I left gave the best customer service I've experienced in a very long time. I definitely recommend Southington Family Dental!

The office is spacious and clean with modern equipment. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The dental work itself is fantastic I managed to wear down my two front teeth by using a super abrasive toothpaste with an electric toothbrush (yes I know, pretty silly of me) and the dentist did an awesome job of restoring them! I sat in my car later admiring them in the visor mirror and my eyes welled up with happy tears!
