Hello, I am Dr. Rick Uhlir, owner and orthodontist at Southern Village Orthodontics. My wife, August, and I live in Southern Village with our two children, Eden and River. As a family, we are all really proud of our practice and we all contribute in some form or fashion. As a long-time resident of Southern Village and Chapel Hill, I am invested in this community from more than just a business standpoint. You are not just a patient or customer - you are my neighbor, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve you! I want to give you the best smile and the best experience along the way. I make every decision with the highest level of integrity knowing that my success depends on you.
I studied Applied Sciences and have a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering from UNC Chapel Hill. Later, I continued my studies in General Dentistry and Orthodontics, also at UNC Chapel Hill. I started my career as a Biomedical Engineer before embarking on the path of orthodontics. I am a member of the Spears Study Club where I enjoy seeking new opportunities to expand on my skills and knowledge in orthodontics. My philosophy is that there is never a time without opportunity for growth and improvement. Despite my years of experience, I consider myself a lifetime learner who is always seeking to bring a higher level of skill, service, and personal self improvement to every area of my life. I bring those principles to my team and into my practice daily.

We have had a very pleasant experience with Southern Village Orthodontics. Dr. Uhler is professional, warm, and caring orthodontist and the staff is pretty awesome too. We have been impressed with how quickly appointments can be made.

Dr. Uhlir and his staff are fantastic! They have made my experience with Invisalign so easy and rewarding. Dr. Uhlir's attention to detail and concern that everything is just right has far exceeded my expectations. The office itself is state-of-the-art and very comfortable. I feel like I am their top priority at every appointment. I recommend Dr. Uhlir's practice without any reservations!

We have had a fabulous experience at Southern Village Orthodontics! All of the staff and employees are incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. The service our daughter and family has received has been outstanding. 10/10 !

I take my 10-year-old daughter to Southern Village Orthodontics and we have had a great experience. Dr. Uhlir is warm and conscientious and the staff is friendly and professional. They have made the transition to braces smooth. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Dr Uhlir! He has been treating both of my children through various stages of orthodontic work for the past year and a half. He is very patient with any questions/concerns that arise and provides excellent care. We have felt supported throughout the process and pleased with the progress being made with their teeth.
