The staff is friendly and efficient. Dr Holliman is great with my son and the visit was quick, encouraging and reassuring that our current routine was working. It's worth the drive for me

Please avoid Southern Smiles unless you are looking to be charged for services you did not ask for. I was taking my daughter here for a few years, and this just recently started happening. Currently, I owe them $156 for a routine cleaning. Stay away!

My son was terrified to go to the dentist but Dr. Evans Carter made him feel so at ease. The staff was friendly and patient. It turned out to be a wonderful experience for him. I highly recommend Southern smiles family dentistry.

I'll begin by saying, I don't write many reviews. Even with negative experiences, I usually let them go. That being said, this dentist tried to scam me and I feel the need to warn others in case it happens to them. I came in for a standard cleaning and they tried to convince me that I needed a deep cleaning that was $800. I told them that I only wanted to get a standard cleaning and they refused telling me that it would be considered neglect if they didn't proceed with the deep cleaning. I'm 38 years old and generally have a very healthy mouth and only 1 cavity my entire life. I decided not to go through with it and go get another opinion. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and standard cleaning and they confirmed what I had assumed... that I didn't need a deep cleaning and they proceeded with a standard cleaning. They mentioned that my prior dentist was likely trying to scam me into paying more for services. This is a shame because I went to Southern Smiles several times with a positive experience and took my son there, but after this we will not be going back.

They definitely charged me for a procedure i did not have done. I paid out of pocket, with insurance, for the fillings i did get that day HOWEVER, they still charged me for things i did not have done. I would not recommend. They will charge you no matter even if you do not get the work done. Terrible communication as i called many times to figure out why theyre claiming i owe when i paid out of pocket the day of. Such a sham of a business practice. Update 10/2/22: I wrote my first review after seeing them on my credit report and their claim not adding up because i paid out of pocket with insurance backing me. At 21 they told me that i did not need my wisdom teeth removed, even though it was very painful, because it looked like it would grow in ok... I REQUESTED THEM TO REMOVE THEM. Now, im 27. Its been 6 years since i went and my wisdom teeth still has yet to erupt fully and hurts tremendously every couple of months or so. It just reminds me how much they want people to pay more than theyd actually need to. I had to pay 200+ to collections for work i NEVER HAD DONE. TO REITERATE, AGAIN, I PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR WHAT I HAD DONE IN THE OFFICE. IF i had gotten them removed then, it wouldve much more cheaper than having them removed now as partially erupted/impacted growth. I will never be okay with this fraudulent, greedy, misleading business. They are nothing but money hungry pigs. Everytime my jaw feel like its on fire i only hear the words of this prcatice telling me they will not remove them, upon my request to remove them, because it seems like they'll grow in fine. Disgusting, now, i have to feel my jaw on fire and disturbingly pained every COUPLE OF MONTHS because they thought id come back and spend more money with their sham prcatice. FRAUDULENT. FRAUDULENT. BEWARE. DONT EVEN TRY TO CALL, ITS HARD. Especially if you have a complaint or want to cancel something. DO NOT DO YOUR DENTAL WORK HERE. SCAM SCAM. SCAAAAAM.

We have been patients here for the past 8 years or so but in the last few years (Covid notwithstanding) we have become very dissatisfied with scheduling. The level of care we have received (two children and one adult) has been great but scheduling has been a nightmare. The number of missed hours of work and school because of scheduling issues has become ridiculous and we are taking our business elsewhere.

I NEVER write reviews but feel my experienced needs to be shared. I went into Southern Smiles in April for what i thought would be a cleaning and X-rays but I only received X-rays and an examine. I was over charged for my dental plan (which I paid upfront), and it took them several times and a few different people to figure out the problem. I made an appointment for a cleaning but when I went in the appointment was for getting a cavity filled. I knew I need a cavity filled but the appointment I made was for a cleaning. I was caught off guard and wasn't prepared to get the filling fixed that day. I scheduled an appointment for a cleaning in October and January. I called to confirm but they did not have any records of the appointment, but I have appointment cards! So frustrating.

I had to come back and adjust my review of Southern Smiles after struggling for the past few years and ultimately deciding to switch to a different practice. I think the team at Southern Smiles is extremely overwhelmed by a volume of patients and it was impacting my care significantly. Getting an appointment was next to impossible--we tried for 2 years to get my husband an appointment and it never happened. I would call multiple times a day (no voicemail option) several days a week to only be greeted by incessant ringing or hold music. When I would finally get through, I would try to make an appointment for myself, which would happen (8+ months out), but as soon as I asked for anything else besides that (a receipt, dental records, an appt for my husband) I was told I would have to call back another time or wait until I came in for my appointment. I never understood why they wouldn't help me resolve everything I called about. One call per issue I guess? I finally had my appointment this year back in April/May and was told I needed a filling. Appointment was scheduled for June. I got a text from them the night before the appointment at 5pm notifying me that the appointment had been cancelled and that they would call me back to reschedule. They never did, and I decided I didn't want to waste my own time trying to get a new appointment when I wasn't the one who cancelled at the last minute. I have now switched to another provider. Everyone at Southern Smiles is very nice--like I said, I think they are overwhelmed and I just can't let my oral care suffer because of it. I would not recommend coming here until hopefully they can increase their staff or get some help at the front desk. ---- 2019 Prior Review: 5 stars I, like most people, do not enjoy the dentist at all. Southern Smiles is different--they make me feel completely at ease, are gentle but thorough with my cleanings, and are understanding of my less-than-ideal flossing practice. I really appreciate how kind and friendly the staff is. I finally no longer dread the dentist anymore! Thank you Southern Smiles!

The location of the office is convenient. However, this is my second visit at the office. Both times, I was there for nearly two hours. No major work done; just x-rays and cleaning. This particular visit, the lady at the front desk seemed a bit annoyed with questions I had about a balance on my account. Turns out, the balance was from the x-rays they took at my previous visit. I wish I had known prior to that the frequency allowed for those types of x-rays are limited, I would have them sent from my previous dentist.

I don't do this. I don't leave reviews, but my experience was so bad that I have to share as a consumer warning. I'll make it short: The office manager (with the "boss lady" plaque on her desk) is passive aggressive, rude, and has (for 2 weeks since my attempts began) withheld a $3,000 refund from me for services I decided to postpone until next year. She refuses to communicate with me to resolve it, and there is no HR, accounting team, or other internal consumer advocate through which to file complaints. I'm currently filing claims with the consumer protection agencies, leaving these reviews, and going through my credit card company to reverse the charges. I pity anyone in my situation that doesn't use a credit card. They'd be at the whim of a vindictive office manager with no real recourse at all. More broadly, I began going here when they opened their Glenwood location (I believe 2021). Loved it. Loved the team, loved the care. Since 2022, it's a stark contrast. I had to plan the visit 3 months out (which is fairly normal these day), but I got there on time & waited an hour to be seen. They rushed through my care, skipped the gum measurement, and I had to repeatedly remind the dentist to add the fluoride to my teeth at the end... she still missed the back of the lower teeth. Don't go here, just don't do it. They've clearly got enough patients that they don't feel they have to provide basic levels of decency and professionalism. Buyer beware.

Used to be better. Now they just seem hungry for add on services my insurance doesn't cover. Staff churn is through the roof - haven't had same hygienist twice in years - which makes for uncomfortable (painful) visits when inexperienced employees do things like run the tooth polisher wide open and it gets hot. Hygienists would ask if I wanted optional services my insurance didn't cover. Now, they don't ask if I want optional things and demand payment months later. Office manager/receptionist showed no interest in answering my questions or providing clarifying details. Tried to make it work. Finding somewhere else to go now. :(

Amazing team I like going to my neighborhood dentist. I love the whole team there. Their office is like going to hang out with friends during the day. Highly recommend them.

I've always had a wonderful experience at Southern Smiles. I haven't had anything major, thankfully, so my experience has been with routine cleanings and one small filling. My son has also had a good experience. Thank you!

I was not informed that my appointment would not include a cleaning, my primary reason for scheduling, instead I got an exam and have to book ANOTHER appt. for the cleaning IN OVER A MONTH FROM NOW. who the hell has time and resources for that?! In over 30 yrs I have never been to a dentist that has done this. Horribly frustrated.

Horrible service and cleaning. Staff act like you are a burden. Waited for forever to be seen even though I had appointment. Would not recommend.

Southern Smiles Family Dentistry was an prayer for me. I grew up loving going to the dentist and wanted nothing more than my boys to experience the same as they grow up. I am so happy and grateful to state how honored I am to have found a dentist for me and my boys. Southern Smiles Family Dentistry has made a difference in my family's life. Every women in that office (front desk staff who set up our appointments to making sure our bills is right) all the way back to the women who care for our teeth we have been nothing but SMILES when we are there and when we leave there. I honestly LOVE going to Southern Smiles Family Dentistry. Its even more of a blessing that it's in that same business complex as my boys doctors office. Thanks Southern Smiles Family Dentistry for caring about me and my boys and always leaving a lasting smiles. ~ The Alex Family

The worst experience of my life! The dentist had the worst attitude and was indifferent to the amount of pain she inflicted into my mouth even when it was brought to her attention. As a first time patient, she was very dismissive to my needs and very disempowering. The front desk staff was very unprofessional and also dismissive. I will never return here again, and I don't recommend anyone else to seek any services here. If I were given the option, I would put zero stars.
