Deleen joined the SO Perio team in November 2015. She has lived in the Valley for 36 years and has worked here as a hygienist for 30 of those. She has enjoyed many years taking care of, and getting to know, her family of patients. She notes, The patients are what keep me going. In her spare time, she loves to garden and grow her own food, and makes some wonderful Jalapeo & Habanero Pepper Jellies.
Cheryl joined the SO Perio team in March 2016. She grew up on the beautiful Oregon coast and settled in the Rogue Valley in 2011 after several years in Europe. She is fascinated by the dental field and loves that there is always something new to learn. In her free time, Cheryl enjoys spending time with friends, adventures, tall ship sailing, and working backstage at the theatre.

Yani joined the SO Perio team in April 2017. She has lived in the Rogue Valley most of her life and is the youngest of four siblings. She graduated from the dental assisting program at RCC and has worked as a dental assistant for the past two years. She is continuing her education and working towards her Dental Hygiene degree with plans to transfer to OIT or LCC. In her free time she enjoys hiking, dancing, and singing. Music is her passion!
Melanie grew up in the Central Coast wine region of California, in the small town of Paso Robles. She received her B.A. in Theatre at UCLA and moved to Ashland in 2017. She also works as an actor, choreographer, and dialect coach in the Rogue Valley. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, sewing, and taking long naps.
JJ joined the SO Perio team in March 2019 and when not at the insurance desk is most likely to be found dancing or writing. After 8 years in Ashland, including studies in Language & Writing at Southern Oregon University, and a brief return to New England, JJ came back to the Rogue Valley in 2015.
Stephanie was raised during school seasons in Bakersfield, CA, and summers up at Crater Lake NP due to her family of Rangers. She is intrigued by the detail and science that goes into the practice of periodontics. In her off time, Stephanie can be found performing with one of the local theatres or filming with the Valleys film community.

Staff is very friendly and I like Dr. Chou. This was a second opinion for me a few years ago. My experience was pleasant so I chose to have my procedure done with Southern Oregon Periodontics. I just had my second gum graft with Dr. Chou and I am pleased with procedure and outcome. I feel like Dr. Chou cares about his work and patients. I highly recommend Southern Oregon Periodontics.

I am so grateful I found Dr. Chou. Another periodontist recommended I get $10,000 worth of gum surgery. I did a lot of research and went to Dr. Chou last year for a second opinion. I have followed all his directions and a year later my gums are in good shape, no surgery. (and I still have my $10,000) I am so very happy I didn't go forward with the surgery. Thank you Dr. Chou.

I am so pleased with my experience at Southern Oregon Periodontics. I had been referred to Dr. Chou over 10 years ago for significant gum recession. I was scared to go through with getting gum grafts at the time and ended up putting off the procedure until a dentist told me I had the worst recession she had ever seen. Okay it was time to get the procedure, and I am so glad I did. I was referred to another local periodontist, but decided to get a second opinion with Dr. Chou again. His prices very reasonable and his staff is exceptional. Everyone is friendly, thorough, and I am impressed with the rigid protocols for covid screening. I am so happy with my results. I was worried that my gums would look patchy and terrible afterwards, but he did such a great job that they came out looking so natural. If you're hesitant to have gum graft surgery, let me tell you it's not as painful or scary as you might think and you will be very happy with your results. I was not asked to give this review. Thank you to Dr. Chou and your staff.

I would highly recommend Southern Oregon Periodontics to everyone for their dental needs. I had actually been referred to somebody else entirely by my primary dentist but decided to do my own research and am so happy I ended up here. Dr. Chou and his staff are incredible, they really go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and to ensure you understand every step of the process which really helped put my mind at ease. I also want to point out how impressed I was with the procedures they have in place during this COVID-19 Pandemic. I don't think I have gone anywhere else that is quite as efficient as they have been in regards to scheduling, checking in, etc. The entire process is incredibly smooth and I am appreciative of the clean and safe environment they have created for their clients.

This is the best periodontist in the valley. Dr. Chou is very talented and pays attention to detail. He always goes the extra mile to make sure his patients get the best service. Do not go anywhere else. The absolute best in the Valley or maybe the State. I went to three others first and they are all in the prehistoric era in comparison to Dr Chou. Simply the Best!

Dr. Chou and his team are outstanding, and gave me one of the best dental experiences I've had. Dr. Chou was considerate, honest in his evaluation of my dental situation, and offered a holistic approach to keep my gums healthy. Everyone was so professional, expressing care and concern, and his periodontal hygentist was exceptional, providing step-by-step information while she gently, but thoroughly performed her dental magic. The very next day after my procedure, my gum actually looked healthy once again. I can't thank Dr. Chou and his team enough for taking such good care of me!

My father was referred to Dr.Chou office. I attended the appointment with him to ensure that my father fully understood the treatment and treatment options. We were both pleased with Dr. Chou's staff and their willingness to explain the treatment throughout the process. Having followed Dr. Chou's treatment plan, my father was able to avoid surgery. We can not recommend him enough.

After being a patient of Dr. Chou's for a year and a half, I can honestly say "Promoting Health & Harmony" is what the entire staff at Southern Oregon Periodontics strives for. Every experience at this office has been a positive one and the health of my gums has greatly improved. Dr. Chou and his competent staff are professional, personable and caring. He took the time to listen to me and answered all my questions. My dentist referred me to another periodontist for gum surgery which was both expensive and painful. When I returned to my dental hygienist for a cleaning she was disappointed to find gum surgery had not made a difference in my gum health. It was the hygienist who recommended I have a consultation with Dr. Chou. I wish I had seen Dr. Chou prior to going through surgery with the other periodontist. His approach is less invasive, much more economical and promotes healing. He also educates about at-home care which is an important element of gum and teeth health. The setting is pleasant and comfortable and the staff seems to enjoy their jobs.

I went to him for an infected implant. He charged me $2800 up front. He did laser surgery and could never get me numb at the injection site and refused to give me a dental block for some unknown reason. (time?) An exposed nerve(s) was extremely painful for each treatment, all of which failed. The local anesthetic into the adjacent gums were totally ineffective, but he continued to use the laser despite the obvious pain and need for a dental block. The treatment failed, left me with deep pockets around the implant, that continue to get infected. He was not compassionate to me or his staff. As a medical professional myself, I will never recommend him to anyone. I would never have returned for further assessments if Idid not have to pay up front,a policy which I found unprofessional as well.

Had a tooth crack under a brand new crown. Knew had to have an implant which meant $$$. The 1st thing my previous periodontist spoke about was $$$. Dr Chou was more concerned about my tooth & what I wanted to be done. Dr Chu & his staff is friendly & professional. Looking forward to my future appointments.

I have worked in health care for more than a dozen years and my experience at Dr. Chou's office has been exceptional. The staff are very friendly and helpful, but best of all Dr. Chou is very conscientious and not at all a salesman ... he speaks clearly about what is going on with your gums and does not try to persuade you into expensive treatment plans ... but simply gives you the tools you need to make your own decisions. I had never met Dr. Chou before two months ago and I can honestly say it has been a wonderful experience.

Dr is knowledgeable, but his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired and his assistants seemed uncomfortable. He argued with me about taking oral antibiotics before treatment.
