Golden Morning

I first visited SoMN CDC the end of May 2022 when I met with Dr Nate Hanson. I had lost my smile during the last two years due to depression and decay and this was my first visit to a dentist to begin the restorative/healing process. This was an emotional and difficult appointment for me and Dr Hanson put my heart and mind at ease. I left there with a renewed hope and a skip in my step with a plan in motion and my first restorative appointment set for three weeks out. 3 weeks later... I arrive for my appointment, both nervous and excited. The gal checks me in, show me to a room and then proceeds to ask me what I'd like to start with. I paused, a little confused. She asked again what I'd like to begin with. I stayed silent, processing what she was asking me, then I asked for Dr Hanson and that's when I found out that the scheduling desk had made an error and scheduled me with the wrong person. I just had to wait 3 weeks to find out. So, back to the front desk I go, heart in hand holding back tears because I wasn't going get the work done today, because I wouldn't get relief from the tooth aches and because I wouldn't get my smile back. But ok, let's reschedule... Next available... July 20. Dr Hanson calls me the next day, assures me that he had noted to make my appointment with him and he's not sure why it was overlooked. Still can't get me in sooner than July 20, but ask for me to be on the short-list, also. He also assures me that he has made a big note on my file to schedule all appointments with him. But here's the kicker, when I call to make the appointment and decide not to and to meet with other dentists first, I'm placed on hold to end up with the office manager. I thought maybe I had an unpaid balance or something, but instead she tells me that Dr Hanson doesn't typically see patients for my care. Since I had just spoken with the doctor who assured me that all my appointments would be with him and that it's noted on my file, I asked her if she had spoken to him re: me before speaking to me or if she had taken a look at my file. Her short answer: No. I end the call. I don't even know what to say. Dr Hanson did an amazing job, I really appreciated his straightforward attitude and how he put my mind at ease. Front desk dropped the ball with a simple scheduling oversight which happens. It's the lack of empathy from the front desk in understanding how someone's smile affects their confidence and self-worth and how one simple over-sight can steal the hope and joy that your Dr was trying to restore. Its the wrong kind of energy or vibe for a healing soul.
