Hello, Im Dr. Sergey Dolgov. I took over Southern Minnesota Periodontics in 2016 from Dr. Jernberg, determined to continue his legacy of outstanding service. I also wanted to, and have, introduced the very latest dental technology into the practice to give Southern Minnesota, the community I live in, truly world-class periodontal treatments and advice.
Throughout my long career (yes, I may look young thanks to my genes, but I actually have plenty of years of experience in dentistry) I have had ongoing and comprehensive training in the use of emerging technologies for the treatment of periodontal disease and the placement of dental implants.
I enjoy bringing the benefits of my skills and experience to dental patients in Mankato, Minnesota and being a periodontal expert that other dentist completely trust when they refer their patients to me.
I see dentistry as a competitive sport. My aim is to reach and stay at the top, like an Olympian. Thats why, when Im not treating patients, Im reading textbooks, going to courses, and putting in the hours to advance myself and my practice.
Working here and serving the community really lets me demonstrate my enthusiasm and passion for providing quality care for periodontal patients in Minnesota. I am motivated to help all of my patients achieve optimal health.
I also believe its vital to keep up-to-date knowledge of all periodontal advances as things change fast. Its why I strive to give Southern Minnesota Periodontics & Dental Implants leadership status in Minnesota when it comes to periodontal treatments and dental implants. I lecture nationally and internationally on the subject and have co-authored a best-selling book on dentistry. I hope this is giving you an idea of just how passionate I am about my profession!
As you might have guessed from my name, I grew up in Russia, in Moscow in fact, where most of my family still lives. I love my life in America treating periodontal disease and providing dental implants in Mankato, Minnesota.
Away from the dental chair, Im an avid reader and a keen chess player. I also practice various martial arts. My next ambition is to master snowboarding as the Minnesotan winters certainly give me plenty of opportunity to practice.

I typically have horrible anxiety with doctors and dentist but these guys made sure i was completely comfortable and assured me everything was going to be okay. The first visit i had with them i was definitely overwhelmed (new place, new people. I didn't know what i was getting myself into) but the staff made sure I was comfortable. All the staff we're very nice and they were all able to answer all my questions! Definitely feel confident theses guys will help me gain my confidence in my smile again!

100% go here!! From my first appointment I could tell I was in good hands, every single member of staff I have encountered is so friendly and educated. They made me feel very safe and comfortable which really put me at ease before my gum graft. Dr. Dolgov is amazing he cares about you as a patient and you are not just a number at this place. Facility is also beautiful and very clean!

Dr. Dolgov is the best periodontist I have ever met! He takes pride in his work (and it shows) and holds both himself and his staff to the highest standards possible. He always strives for perfection and is ahead of the game in his practice simply because he never stops learning. Once you are in his hands rest assured you will walk out with the smile you've always dreamed about. One thing that I really appreciated about Dr. Dolgov was that the fact he was honest and sat realistic expectations. It was important for me to have clear transparent communication without a vague "we will do everything possible to save the tooth". He carefully walked me through the process and explained potential outcomes without unnecessary sugarcoating. I felt like I was in control and was a part of decision making process all while being backed up by a talented professional. Lastly, dental services are never cheap, but you get what you pay for. It is also all about priorities. People are willing to have a payment plan in order to get the next "newest best device" whether it's a phone, PlayStation or something else. At the same time they unwilling to take care of their own bodies and mouths. I care about my smile too much to trust it to just anyone. Dr.Dolgov is highly sought after and is very busy so you probably will want to make appointment well in advance. But remember, everything good is worth the wait!!

I'm pleased with my treatment. It was far less of a challenge than I expected. Just two minor improvements I think would be a benefit. For those of us who have a bridge, a zip lock bag to put them in when leaving would be nice . And when checking blood pressure I was taught to have the cuff level with the heart for greater accuracy. Dr Dolgov is definitely one of the best. I came to him with a huge dental anxiety, was very scared because of my bad past experience in dental chair. He was very understanding, kind and starting from me getting in the chair and getting out of it I did not feel a thing. I was amazed with his skills and professionalism! I definitely recommend him!
