I very much enjoy the profession of orthodontics and strive to provide the best orthodontic care possible for my patients. My philosophy is to have a patient-centered approach to treatment, and engageall my patients at every visitto improve their smiles. I am originally from Austin, Minnesota but grew up in Modesto, California.After dental school, my military career took me to many places in the world but I am glad to be back in Minnesota.
After a bachelors degree in chemistry, I earnedmyDoctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. I was commissioned as a Captain in the Dental Corpsand I completed an advanced education in general dentistry residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. I completedmy orthodonticspecialty trainingat Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. During my training, I received the Health Professions Scholarship, the Dr. Eric Bystrom Memorial Award Scholarship, and the Operative Dentistry Award for the Class of 1997. I alsoearned membershipinthe Tau Kappa Omega and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor societies.
As an Army Dental Corps officer, I visited many different countries whileadvancingmy professional skills. I lived and lectured in Germany and Italy. I recently had the opportunity to lecture to dental residents at the Air Force Academy. I have published articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
My first visit to Southern Minnesota Orthodontics was as a patient when I was a teenager!Im looking forward to meeting you and helping you achieve a beautiful new smile. I am a native of Mapletonand I am excited be back living in the area.
I am a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in biology.I was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, one of the most prestigious honor societies for liberal arts and sciences.Following college, I studiedimmunology at the University of Minnesota before attending dental school. I received my dental degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society.I continued my graduate education, orthodontics specialty residency, and Master of Science in dentistry at the University of Minnesota.
