I very much enjoy the profession of orthodontics and strive to provide the best orthodontic care possible for my patients. My philosophy is to have a patient-centered approach to treatment, and engageall my patients at every visitto improve their smiles. I am originally from Austin, Minnesota but grew up in Modesto, California.After dental school, my military career took me to many places in the world but I am glad to be back in Minnesota.
After a bachelors degree in chemistry, I earnedmyDoctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. I was commissioned as a Captain in the Dental Corpsand I completed an advanced education in general dentistry residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. I completedmy orthodonticspecialty trainingat Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. During my training, I received the Health Professions Scholarship, the Dr. Eric Bystrom Memorial Award Scholarship, and the Operative Dentistry Award for the Class of 1997. I alsoearned membershipinthe Tau Kappa Omega and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor societies.
As an Army Dental Corps officer, I visited many different countries whileadvancingmy professional skills. I lived and lectured in Germany and Italy. I recently had the opportunity to lecture to dental residents at the Air Force Academy. I have published articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
My first visit to Southern Minnesota Orthodontics was as a patient when I was a teenager!Im looking forward to meeting you and helping you achieve a beautiful new smile. I am a native of Mapletonand I am excited be back living in the area.
I am a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in biology.I was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, one of the most prestigious honor societies for liberal arts and sciences.Following college, I studiedimmunology at the University of Minnesota before attending dental school. I received my dental degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society.I continued my graduate education, orthodontics specialty residency, and Master of Science in dentistry at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Hemann is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Hemann practiced general dentistry for two years before entering his orthodontic specialty training at the University of Iowa where he received his Masters of Science in Orthodontics. He also recently became board certified with the American Board of Orthdoontics. Dr. Hemann enjoys the esthetics of orthodontics, and loves creating beautiful smiles while spending time getting to know his patients over the course oftheir treatment.

Dr. Mitchell Hemann is originally from Kasson, MN, and still has family in the Rochester area. He is excited to be returning to his home state of Minnesota. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, baking, completing puzzles, play cards, and board games.

Everyone and everything at this office is more than amazing! Each and everyone you meet will greet you with a smile and a happy greeting. They work hard to give you the best smile possible! I would recommend them to anyone!!! My daughter now has a perfect smile

My eldest son had two sets of braces. Very happy with service and his results. Second son just had his braces put on last week. He started the consultations with Dr. Weimers (loved him with my first son) .Sadly he retired prior to my second son being ready for braces. The transition to Dr. Hemann went well and incredibly happy with his communication and service during appointments. Front desk staff, billing worker and Ortho assistants (unsure if this is correct term) have been great to work with and helpful (patient with me, even when I ask the same question multiple times).

Terrible customer service. Rude, Rude, Rude front desk staff. If my son didn't have his braces on, I would have picked a different office. Unhelpful receptionists with appointments or any questions that I have. I cant wait until I don't have to deal with this office anymore. I would have rather given my money to another orthodontic office. Just terrible.

Dr. Swanson and all of the staff are wonderful to work with. Everyone was very friendly, knowledgeable, and you can tell they truly care about their patients. The results after treatment were absolutely stellar. I could never have imagined my teeth or smile would be as nice as it is now. I felt like I was in good hands during the entire process and could not have been happier.

Dr. Vaubel and staff were very easy to work with. Adult patient so it was a battle with brackets falling off my crowns, but they were very accommodating. Braces now off, happy with the results. Thanks Dr. Vaubel and staff, for everything .....great treat basket at the finish line. :)

Dr Swanson and his staff were AMAZING to work with. They were very attentive, positive and helpful. They really seems to care for us and provided us with their undivided attention.
