He received his dental degree from the University of Minnesota School Of Dentistry. After graduating, Dr. Nelson served as a general dentist in the U.S. Navy in Great Lakes, Illinois and in Beaufort, South Carolina. He maintains active memberships in the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Minnesota Dental Association.

Dr. Nelson and his wife Gretchen (originally from Mankato) and their three boys are very happy to be settled in Mankato. Life heavily revolves around the activities of the kids. When not chasing kids, he enjoys spending time at the lake boating and trying to get in a round of golf.

My experience at Southern Minnesota Endodontics was top notch and I would give it a 10. I saw Dr. Paul Hilfer and his assistant. Very thorough, kind, and a great sense of humor. Receptionist staff are also top notch. They made going to the dentist stress free which for me is hard to do.

Dr. Jennie Harris got me in for an emergency Root canal. She went above and beyond to make sure my experience was pain free and at ease. The root canal was less painful than a bad experience I had had earlier with the filing that caused the problem. She was absolutely amazing!!! I highly recommend her!

Here's a place where they do *not* give you what you don't need. The doctor actually said he could give me a root canal but it might not be necessary and suggested other options to consider. I so appreciate the integrity.

Went in to get a root canal. X ray was done, root canal done. After the doctor finished he looked at the X-ray that was taken before my procedure and noticed I had a significantly large infection going into my sinus cavity. After noticing this he said the infection is probably compromising the tooth next to the tooth I got the root canal done on. The options were to wait and see how the infection heals, or get a root canal on the other tooth. I opted to wait seeing one root canal was 1,350.00 out of pocket because they are out of network with DeltaDental. Not even a week later the temporary filling had a hole in it. I called to ask if it needed to be fixed because I couldn't get in right away for the crown (needed to get that done at my dentist). The receptionist said it's normal. Two days after calling them (one week after procedure) my tooth cracked in half. I called my dentist, they couldn't get me in until the following Monday to look at it. In the following three days after what was left of the tooth I had it broke in half again. My dentist said there was no saving it. Now I need to get the tooth surgically removed, and bone graphed. Delta Dental covered 193.00 of the procedure. I never received a "quote" of what my insurance would and wouldn't cover. My tooth never should've had a root canal done on it. It was too compromised from the beginning (It had a huge filling done on it a few years earlier). On top of that the infection that was noticed AFTER the procedure should've been the first red flag that I needed to just have it pulled. So I threw 1,250.00 out the window for a tooth I'm getting removed anyway. To say I'm displeased would be an understatement. The only saving grace to this place was the fact that my dental assistant was wonderful. Beyond that, I would say do your research and get a few opinions about your situation before getting anything done.

I was completely comfortable thru the entire procedure. Molar root cannel therapy in 45 minutes, start to finish. Magic! The entire staff treated me like I was a celeberty. I had no post operative problems. My highest ratings.

Was referred by a dentist in Iowa and researched by my daughter who worked for Endodontist in Colorado and Maryland. Treatment was excellent. Was on meds for only that day and night. Followed eating suggestions for the day to avoid any problems
