Southern Heights Dental Group was founded in 1974 with a vision of creating a dental practice where everyone, regardless of age, income, or insurance, could have access to quality dental care. That vision has grown Southern Heights Dental Group to be one of the largest privately-owned dental practices in Southern Minnesota, serving Faribault and the surrounding communities.
Today, our team includes eight dentists, each having areas of interest and expertise, including oral surgery, sleep dentistry, pediatric dentistry and cosmetic dentistry.In 2013, Southern Heights Dental began using dental therapists, or mid-level providers, offering even greater access to quality oral health care to more people. Our team also includes registered dental hygienists, licensed dental assistants, along with administrative support specialists. We also have access to a network of certified interpreters to assist with your language translation needs.
We serve both adults and children, and you can rely on Southern Heights Dental for routine and emergency treatments. Additionally, we offer oral surgery services and dental treatments to improve your quality of sleep. Our team is committed to creating customized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each and every patient. With our expert team of doctors, dental therapists, hygienists and office associates we rarely need to refer out - which means you have your full range of dental health needs covered, right here in Faribault.When we do refer out, we have developed trusted relationships with specialists and will work with their offices to have you scheduled efficiently and seamlessly.

Our team of dental hygienists are your partner in establishing and maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile. Dental hygienists perform many important tasks, including basic teeth cleaning, performing x-rays, applying sealants, fluorides, or other substances for preventing tooth decay as well as educating patients on the importance of proper oral care.

My 4 year old had cavities. I was so nervous for him to have to get them fixed. As soon as we got back into the room the dentist and her hygienist were amazing with him. They worked so fast and knew when my son needed to take a break. I will definitely be going back!

I have been going to Southern Heights dental since I moved to the area 3 years ago. Everyone is very kind and professional! Dr Johnson is awesome! Angie is a terrific hygienist! I highly recommend this dental practice!!!!

Tuesday July 19 2022 8 :30 am I have an appointment with Dr Poperberg and he's assistant Missy awesome jobI really appreciate it I mean I'm happy with the service also the service of the lady Ruth she's the one that speak Spanish and helping me with the financials questions all those three people you know they making a great team so far that I've been in United States this is one of the best dental group that I ever been and I intend to stay here as long as I can because I'm happy with the service thank you Poperberg and thank you Missy and senora Ruth appreciate a great job you guys making a great team we'll see you around guys

Dr Poppenburg told me on two different occasions that I was lying about my broken tooth. I kept saying it hurt 24/7 and I knew it had cracked. I was in immense pain. He said no, it wasn't broken. Then he said OVER AND OVER AGAIN "oh, its sensitive to hot and cold? Use sensodyn!" I kept telling him it was constant unending pain. But he kept telling me it was only sensitive to hot and cold?? As if I couldn't feel my own pain in my own mouth?? So just use sensodyn?? Anyway, he refused to help me, and after I didn't have dental anymore I found out it was cracked (duh, i knew) but I also had an abscess under the tooth that required immediate attention. But I cant do anything, because i have no money for it. So im just living with this abscess. Wish he would have listened back when I could have afforded it. But no, he said i was lying. Still 24/7 pain. Thanks, Popperbopper

This place was awesome!! I had a broken tooth & I couldn't get in to the place in the town that I live in. So my insurance representative made me an appointment for Southern Heights Dental & boy am I glad that she did! Honestly this is the most professional, most comfortable, most caring dentist office I've ever been to!! Both the Dr & the assistant could tell that I was anxious & the Dr would stop every few minutes & rub my arm & tell me it was okay & to just take a minute & breathe! They could tell because I was clenching and rubbing my hands furiously together & just her doing that would relax me. I had a horrible experience with a previous dentist & ever since then I dread going to the dentist!! But this was not bad at all! They even have TVs on the wall towards the ceiling so when they're working in your mouth it takes your mind off of what they're doing and you have something to occupy your mind!! They give you an estimate of the work that they are going to do & if it's covered by insurance before they do it too, so you don't have any surprises!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone & everyone!! Especially people who have anxiety about dentists!!

From the don't desk to the chair everyone was very professional and polite. The dental assistant and Dr Johnson were very comforting since I was being a baby about getting my tooth pulled. It was only a tug. Thanks guys.

I have terrible dental anxiety. I came here after having an awful experience at another place. Everyone is wonderful and caring, not once have I felt bad for avoiding dental care for so long. Compassion goes a long way--And this placed nailed it! Thank you! Also great and patient with kids. Highly recommend.

My family was kicked out of this dentist because my husband has a medical condition where he can not wear a mask. He has a note from his doctor and everything. A dentist here got physically in my husband's personal space and was aggressive in front of our four year old son all because of the stupid mask when we were just trying to ger our son to his basic cleaning appointment. They then sent out a letter telling us we are no longer allowed to come to this dentist. I would give zero stars if I could.

I went in with no insurance. An exam and x rays were done. Estimate was $3,200. They pulled three of my teeth and said we should re look at this treatment plan that we made, so I was sent to anther dentist at their location and he gave me an estimate of $30,000. When I told them I couldn't afford it they stated they have one other option that's $10,000. Most painful dental experience I've ever had as well. Would not recommend.

Southern Heights Dental certainly makes a great impression on your arrival. The atmosphere is bright and the staff friendly. I needed a tooth removed and a bridge constructed. The Dental Hygienist, Molly, and remaining staff made my dental days (it took two) both comfortable and informative. I will return on a regular basis knowing I will get great care at Southern Heights.

Great place! I am fearful of going to the dentist. Southern Heights Dental made me feel comfortable. Front desk friendly and helpful. Comfortable and modern waiting area was pleasant. Short wait to be assisted by friendly and professional staff. Dr. Johnson paid special attention to my dental anxiety and eased my fears. New front caps on four teeth! Yeah now I am confident with my smile.
