Every day I have the opportunity, with each person I see in my practice, to improve their quality of life. Whether I am restoring a persons ability to eat the foods they love, changing their smile to boost their confidence, or offering guidance on maintaining oral health, I know I am helping that individual.
Personally, I get the most satisfaction from my work when I am able to get a person out of pain. Seeing that agony leave their face, and watching the relief appear, lets me know I have been able to use my skills to help someone get comfort and feel more at ease.
I grew up in Western Kentucky and attended Murray State University, where I received my Bachelors degree in Biology. I then attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, obtaining my Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD).
The dental field was a natural career path: I enjoy working with my hands, have an aptitude for science, and knew I needed to do something that allowed me to build connections with people while serving them.
As a member of the American Dental Association, I have access to numerous meetings, as well as online courses, webinars, lectures, and seminars. By taking courses taught by the leaders in dentistry, I am able to incorporate the best new options those that improve diagnostics, treatment, comfort, and outcome into patient care.
When I go home in the evening, its to be with my wife Amanda, our beautiful daughter Emma, and our Mini-Aussie, Scooter, at our home just outside of Murray. We love our time together, and make the most of the great outdoors. When Im not with family, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and running in the Land Between the Lakes.
Outside of family and dentistry, I am passionate about being involved with my local church. Whether its bible studies, mission trips, or small group meetings, my wife and I love to share in the love of Christ with others.
Our practice philosophy can be summarized as Always Putting Our Patients First. This means that all of our efforts are focused on meeting the individual needs and expectations of our patients with a genuine caring, humble attitude.

First visit and I so pleased. They made me comfortable and relaxed. Everyone was so kind. The dentist saw I needed a tooth pulled and didn't make me schedule another visit. He took care of it right away.

insanely impressed. haven't been to the dentist in 10 years after a bad experience. i was petrified and my need to visit was an emergency. they hit me with a heavy dose of valium before my procedure so i would be chilled out and were even playing baby animal videos on the screen while i sat in the chair. i wouldn't say the procedure was pleasant (wisdom tooth and molar extraction), but it was pain free and they did an excellent job. tolerable soreness post extraction. i'm as scared as scared gets going to the dentist and I am very pleased with how it went. everyone is so kind and patient. if you're worried or scared, please give them a chance and tell them how you feel, they will listen and not pressure you at all!

My tooth started hurting really badly in the night and I called the next day and they got me in and it was on a Friday. The staff was great and Dr. Duncan was fantastic. He explained everything and put me at such ease with his awesome bedside manner. I loved him!! Great experience!!

I was looking for a dentist and staff that I could trust and this was the place! I have found my dentist!! Everyone in the office was friendly and helpful. Dr. Duncan and his staff were professional and ensured I was doing ok through it all. He did the dental work that visit without making me come back to another appointment. He fixed the pain I was having and genuinely cared. He laid out the options I had and was great through the whole visit. I will definitely keep him as my dentist.

I had a dental emergency the evening before Thanksgiving (of course, these things never seem to happen during office hours ) I typically see Dr. Vonnahme at Taylor Family Dental and was able to reach someone on their Facebook messenger that helped me to get in touch with Dr. Duncan quickly. Dr. Duncan and one of his staff were exceptionally accommodating and met me at their office early the morning of Thanksgiving. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you are in need of dental care, I highly recommend Dr. Christian Duncan at Southern Dental in Murray, Kentucky!
