Dr. Susan Fredericks is a board-certified dentist who is proud to provide general, cosmetic, and restorative dental services. She commonly works with patients from West San Fernando Valley, Calabasas, and the Los Angeles area at her practice, Southern Cal Smiles, in Woodland Hills, CA. Dr. Fredericks graduated from both undergraduate and dental school at UCLA, which is ranked in the top five dental schools in the United States. Over the last 30 years, she has had extensive continuing education in all phases of dentistry. At Southern Cal Smiles, Dr. Fredericks helps her patients with preventative and general dental services that improve their oral health, as well as cosmetic treatments that give them pride and confidence in their smile. She also uses her years of experience and knowledge to help patients with complex cases that may require dental implants, periodontal treatments, and other advanced procedures. Dr. Fredericks offers a variety of sophisticated cosmetic dental procedures. These include teeth whitening for patients who would like to improve the look of stained, discolored teeth and porcelain veneersto correct minor imperfections on the surface of teeth. Other cosmetic treatments she performs are teeth straightening with Invisalign, dental bonding and contouring to improve minor flaws, and smile makeovers for those who want multiple cosmetic dental treatments. Dr. Fredericks also provides restorative dentistry treatment options, such as dental implants to replace one or more missing teeth and full-mouth reconstruction.
Although many individuals visit Southern Cal Smiles for cosmetic and restorative dentistry procedures, one of Dr. Fredericks top priorities is helping her patients achieve or maintain good oral health. To this end, she offers general and advanced dentistry services, which rangefrom routine dental cleanings andtooth-colored fillings to root canal therapy and treatments for TMJ disorder.
A Southern California native, Dr. Fredericks earned all of her degrees from the University of California inLos Angeles. Starting with an undergraduate degree in biology, Dr. Fredericks then earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). To better treat her patients, shewent back to UCLA to earn a Master's degree in Public Health. Sheis committed to continuing educationto stay abreast of advances in the industry. With this in mind, Dr. Fredericks routinely attends local and national dentistry conferences. In fact, she has attended most educational conferences held by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since she joined the distinguished organization.
Throughout her career, Dr. Fredericks has stayed extremely current with new advances and technology in dentistry. She has outstanding relationships with a number of specialist providers, oral surgeons, orthodontists, periodontists, endodontists, and lab techniciansin a collaborate effort to attain the best results. Dr. Fredericks enjoys her career as a dentist, but also feels very strongly about giving back to the community. Dr. Fredericks has been a volunteer faculty member for the past six years at the UCLA School of Dentistry, and takes students regularly to the MEND Clinic in Pacoima. The clinic provides dental services to patients who have very low incomes and to the homeless. She has also taken students to Honduras several times to provide care for people with no access to dental services. She is on the Board of Directors of MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity), UCLA Dental School, and West Hills Hospital.
Dr. Fredericks lives in Calabasas with her husband. Since she loves her job, Dr. Fredericks strongly recommended healthcare careers to her children and they actually listened to her! Her daughter Danielle is a 2016 UCLA dental school graduatewho is currently pursuing a career in oral surgery, and her son Brett is a medical student in Chicago.

I've been going her for a couple years now. I came to this office because of the good reviews and I had been through 3 other dentists that messed up my oral health and destroyed a tooth. No only did the office accommodate my needs, Dr. Fredericks fixed all my issues and got me on a regular schedule for maintenance. I was so impressed with the high level of professional accountability and general atmosphere of the entire staff, I have brought both my parents here too. We all feel healthier and happier. Dr. Fredericks is amazing at her craft and she works on all her patients with compassion, even remembers conversation points from months before. The front desk is always on point and the hygienists are great! I even still drive to LA from my home in Las Vegas because they are the best of the best!
