Dr. Kohler is a South Dakota native who hails from Brandon. After graduating from Brandon Valley High School in 2007, he attended the University of Sioux Falls on both academic and track & field scholarships. He then attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 2017.
Dr. Kohler has experience in both private practice and community health dentistry. He is a member of state and national dental associations, and is also an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Kohler has extensive training in esthetic and implant dentistry, and has also completed a program in comprehensive orthodontics, which he finished in 2019.
He and his wife Jamie, who is also a dentist, reside in Sioux Falls with their French Bulldog Frank, who often visits the dental office and greets patients. He enjoys the outdoors, especially cycling, triathlon, and travel.
Dr. Kern Kohler grew up in Verndale, Minnesota. She graduated from Verndale High School in 2010. She then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota as a chemistry major. During college, she completed two summers of research in chemistry at SDSU. Upon graduating early in 2013, Dr. Kern attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where she met her husband, Dan.
Dr. Kern is passionate about treating the under-served and has spent over three years in the public health setting for South Dakota. She now practices at Southeastern Dental Center and still devotes some of her time at Falls Community Health. She has extensive knowledge and experience in oral surgery and pediatric dentistry.
She lives in Sioux Falls with her husband and dog, Frank. In her free time, Dr. Kern enjoys running, spending time with her family, and traveling. She has completed several half marathons and 10 mile races over the past few years.
Dr. Gibson grew up in Pierre, SD, and graduated from T. F. Riggs High School. She then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for her undergraduate degree, before earning her dental degree from The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 2006. She started practicing at a dental office in Harrisburg, SD working full-time for seven years. Dr. Gibson then decided that part-time would be a better fit for her family, in 2013 she joined her long-time friend and founder of Southeastern Dental Center, Dr. Daniel Goede.
Dr. Gibson is an active member of the American Dental Association and the South Dakota Dental Association. She serves as a board member for the South Dakota Dental Foundation and volunteers her time with the Donated Dental Services organization and the Sioux Empire Smiles yearly free dental clinic. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and especially enjoys being able to go into preschool classrooms to teach kids about the importance of good dental health.
Dr. Gibson and her husband Scott, have two girls; Evelyn and Mae. They also have two furry babies, Lilly and Biscuit. The Gibson family in their spare time enjoys being at the lake and golfing together. When Dr. Gibson is not in the office, she is helping in the class room at her childrens school. Along with teaching Sunday school and keeping busy with her daughter's activities.

My Mom goes there and she "hates" dentists because she suffers from significant anxiety. Somehow, she apparently loves Dr. Kohler's demeanor because she almost seems like she looks forward to the visits. I'm sure that may change if she ever needs a root canal, haha. Seems like a well run office.

Was recently at Southeastern Dental for crowns - which I was "not really looking forward" . But, the experience was very easy and efficient - the staff was very attentive to ensuring I was comfortable throughout. And... the important point is that I am 110% satisfied with the end result. Dr Kohler and staff made the procedure as smooth and comfortable as possible. They did great work on the crown and it was immediately evident. I'm thankful for this knowing that next time I have a procedure that it will be a piece of cake.

I have been here before for cleanings and the doctors were great. However, I tried to call and schedule an appointment for a cleaning for my daughter and I. Madeleine informed me that we have been dismissed from Southeastern Dental due to financials (my daughter is not in network and I didn't pay upfront for my cleaning) and for "not showing up to an appointment" (They didn't have any masked to provided and I didn't have one). This is discrimination at its finest!!!!

I have been going to Dr. Kohler's for two years now. They have a great staff that addresses any questions/concerns you may have. The office is nice and relaxing that puts you at ease when you walk in the door. Overall a great experience. My 9 year old daughter left her appointment yesterday saying "they have the nicest staff!"

I have gotten regularly scheduled dental care as well as specialty work, crowns in particular. It was a near perfect experience. They make their own crowns so it was one visit! The staff is awesome and the dentists are amazing. Five star rating for sure!

This is a great family dentistry! They are great with all my kids and very thorough teeth cleaning. Dana always cleans my teeth and she is wonderful, she does the most in depth teeth cleaning I have ever had!

My husband and I are new to Sioux Falls and chose this office due to proximity to our home. We are very pleased with our decision. We have enjoyed excellent patient care and involvement in all that is happening. The Doctors explain things well and make recommendations, all the while including you in the process. I appreciate being a participant in my health care and the rapport with the staff certainly allows for that.They are very competent and make going to the dentist a pleasurable experience.

Said my insurance was out of network but can still get me in. Show up 30 minutes early and waited till after they did x rays to say I wasn't covered at all and had to pay out of pocket for x rays.
