Joseph C. McMurray, DMD, MBA, is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons that has been serving the South Valley (Gilroy and Morgan Hill) area since 1997.
Dr. McMurray received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Pt. Loma Nazarene College. He went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the prestigious Washington University, in St. Louis School of Dental Medicine, where he received numerous awards for academics and research.
Dr. McMurray then pursued his passion for surgery by completing his 4 year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Southern California (LAC) medical center, which ranks among the top 10 in the US out of nearly 5,000 hospitals evaluated by US New and World Report.
Only two highly qualified candidates are invited to train yearly at USCs Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. And during his residency, he trained alongside medical residents in internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesiology, plastic surgery, otolaryngology(ear, nose, and throat), emergency medicine, and other specialty areas and received intensive training in dentoalveolar surgery (extraction of wisdom teeth, complicated extractions), maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, head and neck pathology, and dental implant surgery.
Learning is a lifelong passion for Dr. McMurray. He holds an MBA degree from Pepperdine University one of the nations premier graduate business schools. His passion for surgery is only equaled with his commitment to a business based on a foundation of high ethical standards. Dr. McMurrays philosophy is that providing outstanding patient care should never come at a cost of running an efficient business practice.
Dr. McMurray proudly served the military for 11 years with the U.S. Navy. He was fleet Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and was the clinical department head at U.S. Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy.
He is an accomplished Commercial pilot and Certified Flight Instructor and holds an instrument rating in high performance complex single engine airplanes. Community involvement through Rotary International and his passion to help others has drawn him to volunteer his time to Angel Flight (www.angelflight.org); a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free air transportation in response to health care and other compelling human needs. As well as an active member of Los Medicos Voladores (http://www.flyingdocs.org) nonprofit organization that aims to improve the health and well-being of geographically diverse peoples in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
Dr. McMurray is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, Santa Clara Dental Society.

I had three out of four wisdom teeth removed. I would highly recommend ! Everyone was super kind and answered all my questions. Dr. Arian Chehrehsa was wonderful he took great care of me. Thank you South Valley Oral and Facial Surgery.

Excellent doctor and excellent care. I love that he bonded with my kids and husband before any procedures were done. They felt very comfortable with him. I also love the office team. They deliver a high level of service . Great office!

Two weeks ago my right incisor was knocked off by a vehicle when I was crossing the street. My neighbor recommended Dr Arian Chehrehsa in South Valley Oral and Facial Surgery to me for a tooth Implant. I found Dr Chehrehsa is a knowledgeable and friendly gentleman. Today he performed a bone grafting procedure on me in preparation for future tooth implant. His bedside manner is excellent. After the surgery everything was Ok, no pain, no swelling and no bleeding.

I have a very low tolerance for pain, and like most of us I hate going to the dentist, hence the need for oral surgery, I went to a local DDS near me, in some dated old office with outdated equipment and I didn't feel very comfortable, so I decided to go to South Valley because of all the high reviews, and trust me, these reviews don't lie. The office is clean, Dr. mcMurray and his staff, especially Lalani are amazing. Even the Gilroy office staff with above and beyond, I had general anesthesia because I had an impacted wisdom tooth that needed to be pulled and another tooth as well, he did a wonderful job, I feel great, and my gums are healing wonderfully, oh and he did some bone grafting for a futures implant. The Dentist is very knowledgeable, he took my wants and needs into consideration and then we came up with a plan together. I will definitely refer him to anyone who's looking for an oral surgeon, we just moved here from the Midwest, and this is by far the best dental practice I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Initially I thought the prices was a bit high, but you pay for what you get, and I realized it was the anesthesia that was expensive, but I could've had laughing gas but I'd rather not here a drill or tools in my mouth, I go back again for more dental work, I'm nervous but excited

I was referred to Dr. McMurray for my implant bone graft surgery by my Dentist. Honestly, I was very apprehensive about the surgery since it was something that I have not experienced before. I made the appointment for consultation. The office staffs were very helpful and made me feel at ease. The Dr. came in and looked at my teeth and explained to me what need to be done. Necessary medication was subscribed to me prior to the surgery. Also all the cost of the surgery was provided in details. I came in for the surgery 2 weeks later and everything went smooth. I was sedated during the surgery (so glad that I don't have to witness the entire procedure). To my surprise, the pain after the surgery was not bad at all. It was mild. My face was swollen due to the surgery and it lasted about 3 days. I had my post surgery check up a week after and the Dr. explained what he did. I have another appointment for the implant to be put in in a few months. I felt that I was in good hands and everyone made me felt comfortable. The Dr. and his staffs are wonderful. I highly recommend Dr. McMurray.

Dr McMurray and the South Valley Oral and Facial Surgery staff were great. Even with my extreme anxiousness before and after the surgery, the Dr. McMurray and his staff were very patient and understanding with me. I had a very tricky wisdom tooth extraction and Dr. McMurray clearly explained the process pre and post surgery. I would defiantly recommend them to a friend or family member.
