Joseph C. McMurray, DMD, MBA, is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons that has been serving the South Valley (Gilroy and Morgan Hill) area since 1997.
Dr. McMurray received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Pt. Loma Nazarene College. He went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the prestigious Washington University, in St. Louis School of Dental Medicine, where he received numerous awards for academics and research.
Dr. McMurray then pursued his passion for surgery by completing his 4 year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Southern California (LAC) medical center, which ranks among the top 10 in the US out of nearly 5,000 hospitals evaluated by US New and World Report.
Only two highly qualified candidates are invited to train yearly at USCs Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. And during his residency, he trained alongside medical residents in internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesiology, plastic surgery, otolaryngology(ear, nose, and throat), emergency medicine, and other specialty areas and received intensive training in dentoalveolar surgery (extraction of wisdom teeth, complicated extractions), maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, head and neck pathology, and dental implant surgery.
Learning is a lifelong passion for Dr. McMurray. He holds an MBA degree from Pepperdine University one of the nations premier graduate business schools. His passion for surgery is only equaled with his commitment to a business based on a foundation of high ethical standards. Dr. McMurrays philosophy is that providing outstanding patient care should never come at a cost of running an efficient business practice.
Dr. McMurray proudly served the military for 11 years with the U.S. Navy. He was fleet Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and was the clinical department head at U.S. Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy.
He is an accomplished Commercial pilot and Certified Flight Instructor and holds an instrument rating in high performance complex single engine airplanes. Community involvement through Rotary International and his passion to help others has drawn him to volunteer his time to Angel Flight (www.angelflight.org); a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free air transportation in response to health care and other compelling human needs. As well as an active member of Los Medicos Voladores (http://www.flyingdocs.org) nonprofit organization that aims to improve the health and well-being of geographically diverse peoples in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
Dr. McMurray is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, Santa Clara Dental Society.

Great care and follow up by entire staff. Doctor very caring. Surgery assistants also very good and helpful. I received great service and care for tooth implant prep.

Dr. Chehrehsa at South Valley Oral and Facial Surgery is not only highly skilled but also gentle, patient and kind! I drive more than 300 miles from home for oral surgery because he has my confidence. His staff is conscientious about billing accurately. There was a mixup on one occasion when I'd been given an appointment at one office on a day when he was at another; but they promptly resolved it. I recommend him without hesitation.

Nervous about having a tooth pulled does not matter whether you're 10 or in your 70's. That was my situation. This outfit has the experience and does an excellent job preparing you for the event. The whole stafe takes plenty of time to explain what will happen, is honest , and do not solicit reviews. I relied on referral from my primary DDS and asked the basis of her suggestion versus scanning everyone inside of 50 miles.I wanted someone good, not just cheap or seemingly popular. My work done quickly, efficiently, and reasonably economically for a older type cash patient. Less than 12 hours later I have no swelling and only minor ache. much better than the normal tooth ache than a broken tooth with nerves exposed.

Dr Arian Chehresha was awesome!!! So kind and professional. His staff is great too. Having a tooth pulled is very scary, but this team was kind and helpful. Very attentive. The kind Dr. called me that evening to see how I was doing. And was so helpful during my follow up visit. I highly recommend Dr. Arian Chehrehsa.

Had my wisdom teeth removed and everything went well. I like to ask a lot of questions and I didn't feel rushed or felt judged. Whether it was financial or surgery related questions they heard me out. Really nice people, no complaints.

Went in Yesterday for my wisdom tooth extraction I was so nervous about doing it but I'm so Grateful for the staff there the girls are very Welcoming and Hospitable they make you feel at home & I soon felt comfortable and confident that i was in Good Hands with Doctor C. The procedure was easy & quicker than I thought I was out in less than 40min & what I appreciate the most was his call last night to follow up and just check if I was doing okay if my bleeding had stopped or in any pain. I appreciate him Calling & making me feel cared for. Overall my experience was Amazing I'd highly recommend this Doctor to anyone i come across in need of a wisdom tooth removal from a specialist!!! He's awesome & so is the Staff!!

I had 4 teeth extracted a few weeks ago (2nd molars/wisdom teeth). From the initial consult to post surgery, I felt like I was in capable as well as attentive hands the entire time. The entire staff along with Dr. Chehrehsa were awesome. I've had dental anxiety for over a decade, and they listened and reassured me I'd be okay. And I was. I need more dental work with other specialists, so this has helped restore my faith in the dental professionals.

South Valley Oral and Facial Surgery was 5 out 5 for me- I attended the Gilroy Office for my Wisdom teeth removal. The front desk women (office manager and receptionist) were awesome and really warming people. The assistants were just so polite and nice. I've had some pretty bad dentist visits in my past and visiting this place was not one of them. The surgeon Dr (Chehrehsa) was really cool. He called me personally the same day of my surgery maybe close if not at 8pm to check up on me to see how I was feeling. That I greatly appreciated. He responded to emails I sent to him quickly and hes great . The whole team there is really awesome :) and recommend them if anyone is unsure where to go about Wisdom teeth removal!
