Dr. Richard Atwood completed his undergraduate studies at Utah Valley State College and graduated from The University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in 2007. He has studied under some ofthe top cosmetic dentists in the country, including Dr. Bill Dorfman from the ABC series 'ExtremeMakeover.' He is certified in invisalign orthodontics, Solea laser dentistry and Cerec technology. Dr.Richard cares about each of his patients and wants the best for their health and smile. Patient comfort andquality work are his top priorities. Dr. Richard enjoys spending time with his wife Allison and their 3children, Gavin, Skyler and Claire. In his spare time he loves to snowboard, wakeboard, cycle and just havefun! (He even rode his snowboard off the roof of his house for fun)

Valerie is our Office Manager. She has been with us since April 2016 and she handles all insurance and financing. She is very knowledgeand takes great pride in her work. She is originally from Cincinnati, OH. She receivedher B.S. in Public Health from BYU-I. She loves the mountains and the community here in Spanish Fork. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their dogs and she is a very skilled baker!
Natalie is our receptionist and does a wonderful job helping patients feel welcomed into the practice. She is a life long Utah resident and has been in Spanish Fork for 8 years. She has 4 children and one grandbaby! She enjoys being with her family and supporting her children in their activities.
Danelle is our lead dental assistant and has been with us since June 2016. She is great with keeping patients at ease and has the best laugh. She has lived in Spanish Fork for eleven years with her husband and three wonderful boys. She grew up in the San Antonio, Texas area and moved here for school. She loves crafting and painting, but cooking/baking is her favorite. She also loves spending time with her kids outdoors and swimming is one of their favorite things. She has been in the dental field for fifteen years and loves it!
Caitlin is a full time dental assistant and has been with us since August 2016. She was raised in Spanish Fork and currently lives here with her husband, Jake. She loves being active and is an avid dancer/clogger. Her favorite place to be is Disneyland and loves chocolate.
Mariela is a full time Dental Assistant and our resident Spanish speaker. She is super funny and always keeps us on our toes with her whit. She has lived in Utah most of her life and she lives with her dad and sister. She enjoys traveling, reading and watching movies.
Heather is a full time hygienist. She has a long history with the Atwood's . She started with Dr. Mike Atwood in the 90's as a front office employee and then went to hygiene school and then continued to work for Dr. Mike Atwood before Dr. Richard bought the practice. She has such a happy disposition and is a joy to be around! She loves to travel and has been all over the world!
Allison is a part time hygienist and works two days a week with us. She takes great care of her patients and loves to reconnect with patients she has seen for years. She has 3 children and 3 step children and lives in Salem. She graduated from hygiene school in 2002 and she enjoys being outdoors, wake boarding, hiking and traveling.
Summer is a part time dental hygienist. She's originally from Las Vegas and has been in Utah for a few years. She comes from a family of many dentists, including her husband who is a dentist. She has 4 children and enjoys spending her time with them.
Karen is a part time Dental Hygienistand has worked in the practice since 2016.She was raised in a small townin Utah called Alton.She is a twin and has 11siblings!Karen is the mom of two little boys andloves to travel to St. George to visit her family.

I'm obviously in the minority here so take my review with a grain of salt! They had to do a crown for me while I was pregnant. Unfortunately since then, the crown has been super sensitive. I can't really chew on the left side where it's located, and it's sensitive to cold and heat. I went in after a few months and they shaved the crown down but that didn't help. When I went in for another cleaning I mentioned it to the hygienist, and she made an appointment for me to have it fixed "free of charge" (her words). When I went in for that, the dentist looked at it for 2 seconds and said he shouldn't do anything that would cause more trauma to the tooth. I get that, but I now have one side of my mouth that's basically unusable now, which sucks. It felt like they just didn't want to fix it for free. I have since found a new dentist.

This group is amazing I was out of town and had probably the most unbearable tooth pain, actually worst pain ever. They had me in a chair with an X-ray within 15 minutes! Highly highly recommend!! They went above and beyond!! Thank you

Terrible customer service and miscommunication that cost me over $100. The receptionist told me that they accept both types of insurance that I had which is the only reason why I chose this office. As a single mom of 4, I depend on my insurance company and coverage. Come to find out they did not accept both insurance types and billed me for over $100. After speaking with the office manager, she could care less and acted as if it was not her problem and there was absolutely no way that anyone in the office could have made that mistake. Even with proof of text messages from a 2nd receptionist at the office knowing the kind of insurance that I had and asked me to send a picture of it. Then came back and said "Oh yea, we actually don't accept that insurance. So not only 1 but 2 employees had no idea until they asked. They refused to do anything about it. I am out money that could have gone towards things my kids need. Even if there really isn't anything they could do, recognizing that a mistake was made and being apologetic goes a long way!!

I absolutely love South Valley Dental care! I always get a friendly welcome by Valerie and everyone else at the front desk. Dr. Atwood is very kind and it's clear he knows what to do in every situation. My hygienist Heather is so sweet and funny, and she remembers me! Overall I have a wonderful experience every time I come in.

I absolutely South Valley Dental! Dr. Richard Atwood is a fantastic dentist who is so kind and relieves my anxieties with his great bedside manner!! I also love Heather the hygienist! I've been seeing her for years. She does an amazing job and makes me feel so comfortable! I would highly recommend these guys!!

Called needing a cleaning right away before getting braces put on. They were able to schedule me the next day on a Friday. The dental assistant (Summer) was AMAZING! We ended up doing a deep clean which can be pretty painful and she was so sweet and encouraging! She was very knowledgeable and caring. I ended up needing 2 cavities fixed and they got me in the following Monday! It was amazing. Super nice staff. I'll drive the 2.5 hours from my hometown to come here for the staff alone. Thanks so much!
