Dr. Chad Bergan grew up in Valley City, ND. He developed an interest in dentistry through influence from his parents and his college teammate on the NDSU track and cross country team, who is also a current dentist. Dr. Bergan enjoys working in an energetic environment where hes learning something new every day. He is grateful to have the chance to serve people in our community.
Dr. Bergan earned his undergraduate degree in Zoology at North Dakota State University and then attended the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Dental Degree (DDS). He continues to invest numerous hours to continuing his education and learning advanced technology.
When hes not practicing dentistry, Dr. Bergan enjoys spending time with his family at the lake. He was married in 2016 to his beautiful wife Megan. They have a son, Becker and a daughter, Bryce. As alumni the Bergans love to follow Bison athletics extensively. In his free time Dr. Bergan still tries his hand at softball, basketball, and golf.
Dr. Samuel, a Fargo native and graduate of the University of North Dakota, took an interest in dentistry after having the opportunity to shadow his family dentist, Dr. Thomas G. Fellman. Dr. Fellman, knowing Walter from an early age, entertained an opportunity upon completion of dental school to Walter. Over the next five years, things came together, and in October of 2010 Dr. Samuel joined Drs. Fellman and DeBates.
Dr. Samuel attended North Dakota State University his freshman year, then transferred to the University of North Dakota where he studied Aviation and then later attained his degree in Health Sciences. He went on to earn his Dental Degree (DDS) from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Walter continues his dedication to the field of dentistry, utilizing microscopes as a regular part of his practice, and spending countless hours learning more and more about the latest techniques in Dentistry.

As a new patient, I received a warm welcome and excellent service. The staff, hygienist, and doctor I saw were all wonderful and truly focused on exceptional patient care. I was back today for an urgent visit. They were able to get in me in right away. The doctor took time to call me personally and gather all the detail about my issue, and squeeze me into his very busy schedule. I highly recommend South University Dental, they go above and beyond for their patients!

All the staff are wonderful and kind. Sean and Dr. Althoff are great to work with my 3 year old son. Sean has so much patience and takes an interest and asks questions to my son about what his interests are. He is always so excited to go to the dentist and can't stop talking about it for days after

They went out of there way to ensure I could ge the dental care I needed. I was going on 3 years without a dental visit because the only insurance I have is MA. I was an existing patient and they helped me come up with an affordable plan for me! Because for their kindness I will never go anywhere else if I can help it. Highly recommend!!!

I have been going to South University Dental for 20 years. Over time my dentist has changed but never the quality of service. They listen to my concerns, work with me and my insurance and do a fabulous job. I will recommend them to anyone!

Front desk staff is very welcoming. The dental care at this office is top notch. When getting my teeth cleaned I'm educated on my dental health, and if there are areas I can improve on. If dental work is needed, I'm educated on what the procedure will be. I am in extremely good hands. Love my dental team.

I lost an old crown this am but didn't swallow it and came in without appointment for recementing and I was in and out of there in a half hour. So accommodating and fast! Successful in putting crown back in place!
