Dr. Marcos Garcia was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Growing up, he was an avid swimmer and Boy Scout, achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M Corpus Christi University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science and then graduated from Dental School earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. Dr. Garcia continued training for three more years at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston completing his post graduate training in Periodontics and receiving his Master of Science in Periodontics and Implantology. Following his residency, he became a candidate of the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Garcia has served as an officer in many organizations as a means of service to his professional community and was named to the Deans Honor List. He was a member of The Student Research Group and Psi Omega Dental Fraternity and is currently a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Laser Dentistry, Southwest Society of Periodontists, Texas Society of Periodontics, Texas Dental Association, Nueces Valley District Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Dr. Garcia enjoys staying active in these organizations to network, pursue continuing education, and professional development.

Dr. Garcia has always had a strong interest in research. He has completed multiple projects on the subject of color of dental biomaterials. Research projects include: Color Measurement Harmonization Between Instruments: Pilot Study, Color Compatibility Between Two Shade Guides, and Gloss of CAD/CAM Ceramics. He has enjoyed presenting his research project to others. He has presented at The University of Texas School of Dentistry Student Table Clinic and Star of the South Scientific Table Clinic where he presented over, Diagnosis Begins with a Handshake: Fingernail Pathology. He has also presented his research findings in the form of oral presentations at the UTSD Student Research Showcase and in the form of poster presentation at the International Association for Dental Research/American Association Dental Research dental for four consecutive years.

Dr. Garcia completed and defended his Master thesis on laser treatment of implants. This laser antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) clinical study was awarded and funded by the Academy of Laser Dentistry Dr. Eugene Seidner Research Grants Program. Dr. Garcia was given the opportunity to present the study and current results at the 2021 ALD annual conference.

Dr. Garcia has been honored with several awards throughout his dental training. He is a leader throughout the school and community and was recognized by being a Student Leader Scholarship Recipient. He was awarded with an In-Service Periodontics Scholarship, Nasjleti Periodontics Scholarship, Academy of Dental Materials Award, The Quintessence Award for Academic Achievement and Research, and The Danny D Anton Scholarship for Biomaterials.

Growing up around a family of dentists inspired Marcos to take on his dream of helping people and changing lives. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Dr. Ashley Garza, who is a general dentist. Together they have two beautiful children, Leila and Charles. Marcos enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, swimming, playing tennis and picking up new hobbies.
